Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Lands on waivers
Brannstrom was placed on waivers Sunday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.
Brannstrom figures to join AHL Abbotsford, should he clear waivers. The 25-year-old defenseman had been a healthy scratch in Vancouver's last six games after logging three goals and eight points in 28 contests earlier this year.

Canucks' Elias Pettersson: First point since return
Pettersson notched an assist and five blocked shots in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Maple Leafs.
Pettersson got on the scoresheet early in his second game back from an undisclosed injury. He helped out on a Brock Boeser tally just 31 seconds into this game. Pettersson saw just 16:08 of ice time, but the Canucks rested a handful of key forwards while in control of this contest, which was the second half of a back-to-back. The 26-year-old center is at 10 goals, 19 helpers, 67 shots on net, 44 blocked shots, 34 hits and a minus-3 rating through 36 outings. Getting Pettersson in peak form will be key for the Canucks to keep their place in what could be a tight wild-card race over the second half of the campaign.

Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood: Gets back in goal column
Sherwood scored a goal on three shots and added five hits in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Maple Leafs.
The goal was Sherwood's first since the holiday break -- he has just two points over his last eight contests. The winger has been bumped down to the third line, but he led all Vancouver forwards with 17:38 of ice time Saturday. He's now at 13 goals, 21 points, 83 shots on net, 249 hits and a plus-4 rating through 42 appearances.

Canucks' Brock Boeser: Nets 15th this season
Boeser scored a goal Saturday in a 3-0 win over Toronto.
It stood as the winner. Tyler Myers wired a point shot that ricocheted off Boeser and past Dennis Hildeby. It was his first goal in six games. He has 15 goals, 12 assists and 66 shots in 35 games. Boeser is well off the pace he set last season when he tickled twine 40 times. But 30-plus goals are within reach.

Canucks' Tyler Myers: Four points in last six games
Myers picked up two assists Saturday in a 3-0 win over Toronto.
Myers has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last six games. He's not a prototypical point-getting defender -- he has only 12 in 42 games -- but he also has 75 blocks and 40 hits on the season, which puts Myers on pace to block close to 150 shots. Use him in a deep league if you need that help.

Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Keeps piling up points
Hughes scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-0 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
His goal was a gimme. Leafs defender Simon Benoit inadvertently swatted the puck out of the air and into the net, and Hughes was the last Canuck to touch the puck. The 25-year-old Hughes has nine goals and 47 points in 38 games this season. The next closest Canuck has 30 points. Among all defenders, Hughes is the leader in assists and ranks third in points. He is making an intriguing case for himself for the Norris Trophy and possibly the Hart Trophy.

Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Fourth shutout of season
Lankinen made 20 saves Saturday in a 3-0 win over Toronto.
It was his fourth shutout this season and seventh in the NHL. Lankinen has continued to see a solid workload while Thatcher Demko recovers from back spasms. Monitor daily activations closely to take advantage of Lankinen's play.

Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Slated to face Toronto
Lankinen is set to start on the road against Toronto on Saturday, per Mark Masters of TSN.
Lankinen is 0-1-2 across his past three starts, but he limited the competition to two or fewer goals on two occasions. He's 15-7-6 with a 2.60 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 28 outings this season. Toronto ranks 12th in goals per game with 3.14.

Canucks' Thatcher Demko: Gives up two goals Friday
Demko stopped 18 of 20 shots in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Hurricanes.
Demko played for the first time since Jan. 2 after missing three games in a row due to back spasms. Even though he looked competent between the pipes, he didn't get much support from the offense in this low-scoring matchup. Demko has gone winless in his last three appearances, going 0-1-1 with a 3.24 GAA and an .869 save percentage in that span. With the Canucks playing on the second leg of a back-to-back Saturday at Toronto, it wouldn't be surprising if Demko is rested, with Kevin Lankinen guarding the Canucks' crease instead.

Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Activated off IR
Pettersson (undisclosed) was taken off injured reserve ahead of Friday's matchup with Carolina.
Pettersson's return to action will almost certainly see him retake a top-six role in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit. Prior to his six-game absence, the 26-year-old center was struggling offensively with just two points in his last seven appearances. At this point, Pettersson should probably be expected to miss the 80-point mark for the first time since 2021-22 but could still push for 60 if he gets out of his funk soon.

Canucks' Thatcher Demko: Slated to guard cage against Canes
Demko is expected to be in goal on the road versus Carolina on Friday, per Patrick Johnston of The Providence.
Demko will make his first start since Jan. 2 against the Kraken, having missed the last three games with back spasms. Injuries have limited the 29-year-old netminder to just seven appearances this season in which he posted a 2-1-3 record, 3.33 GAA and .881 save percentage -- ratios that would mark career-worst numbers if they hold the rest of the way.

Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood: Ends point drought with helper
Sherwood logged a power-play assist, seven hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Capitals.
Sherwood ended a five-game point drought with the helper. Since his Dec. 16 hat trick versus the Avalanche, Sherwood has been limited to three points over 10 contests, but he's still bringing the boom with 53 hits in that span. The winger secured the second 20-point campaign of his career Wednesday (12 goals, eight assists), and he's added 79 shots on net, 16 PIM and a career-high 237 hits, which remains a historic pace in the physical category.

Canucks' Conor Garland: Strikes on power play Wednesday
Garland scored a power-play goal on three shots in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Capitals.
This was Garland's first power-play point since Dec. 10 versus the Blues. The winger has still been decent on offense lately, earning three goals and two assists over his last eight outings. The 28-year-old is in a top-six role and has 11 goals, 30 points (10 on the power play), 92 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 40 appearances.

Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Sent back to minors
Silovs was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.
With Thatcher Demko serving as the backup against Washington on Wednesday, Silovs' services were no longer needed in the NHL. The 23-year-old netminder will return to the minors where he is 2-3-0 with a .900 save percentage in five outings. If Demko or Kevin Lankinen picks up another injury at some point this year, Silovs figures to return to the NHL roster.

Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Gets little help in OT loss
Lankinen made 16 saves in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Capitals.
The 29-year-old netminder shut down most of the Washington lineup, but Pierre-Luc Dubois got pucks past him late in the first period and in the final minute of OT, and the Vancouver offense wasn't able to get much going. Lankinen has appeared in five straight games, starting four of them, while Thatcher Demko has dealt with back spasms, but the former has gone just 1-2-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .882 save percentage. Demko dressed as the backup Wednesday, and he could resume No. 1 duties as soon as Saturday's game in Carolina.
