Top Maple Leafs News

  • Maple Leafs' William Villeneuve: Signs two-way deal

Villeneuve signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, per PuckPedia.

Villeneuve had 30 points in 61 regular-season outings for AHL Toronto in 2025-26. He also logged three appearances with the Maple Leafs late in the campaign. The 24-year-old defenseman will likely spend most of 2026-27 in the AHL again, though he could push for a depth role during training camp.

  • Maple Leafs' Jacob Quillan: Pens two-way deal Monday

Quillan inked a one-year, two-way contract with Toronto on Monday, according to PuckPedia.

Quillan appeared in 23 games with the Maple Leafs in 2025-26, chipping in a goal, two assists and 46 hits while averaging 10:16 of ice time. The 24-year-old was much more productive with the Marlies en route to their Calder Cup championship, earning 14 goals, 36 points and a plus-12 rating over 40 regular-season games. He also had three goals and six helpers over 19 playoff games in the minors. Quillan will contend for an Opening Night roster spot with the big club in training camp ahead of the 2026-27 season.

  • Maple Leafs' Ryan Tverberg: Inks one-year contract

Tverberg signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs on Saturday, per PuckPedia.

Tverberg had 15 goals, 36 points and 36 PIM in 63 regular-season appearances with AHL Toronto in 2025-26. He also had six goals and 14 points in 24 playoff outings with the Marlies to help them win the Calder Cup. The 24-year-old enjoyed a two-game stint in the NHL last campaign, including his NHL debut April 13. He had no points, two PIM and three hits across those two appearances. Tverberg will probably start the upcoming season in the minors.

  • Maple Leafs' Emil Andrae: Inks two-year deal

Andrae signed a two-year, $3.1 million contract with Toronto on Saturday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Andrae produced two goals, 13 points, 36 shots on net, 58 blocked shots and 68 hits across 61 regular-season outings with Philadelphia in 2025-26. The Maple Leafs acquired the 24-year-old blueliner from the Flyers on June 16. Andrae will compete for a third-pairing spot with Toronto during training camp.

  • Maple Leafs' Gavin McKenna: Inks entry-level contract

McKenna signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on Friday.

Toronto took McKenna with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. He was fantastic with WHL Medicine Hat in 2024-25, supplying 41 goals and 129 points in 56 regular-season outings. McKenna was similarly dominant as a freshman with Penn State University last season, finishing with 15 goals and 51 points in 35 appearances. Although there's always the potential for growing pains with a young player, even when they are exceptionally talented, it wouldn't be surprising to see McKenna be a major contender for the Calder Trophy in 2026-27. He's likely to play in Toronto's top six and receive power-play ice time.

  • Maple Leafs' Samuel Hlavaj: Signs one-year deal

Hlavaj inked a one-year contract with Toronto on Friday.

It's a two-way contract for the goalie, per PuckPedia. Hlavaj figures to enter the season as Toronto's No. 4 backstop and will likely spend the year in the minors sharing the crease with Artur Akhtyamov. In 22 games with AHL Iowa last year, the 25-year-old Hlavaj went 7-11-4 with an .887 save percentage and 3.28 GAA.

  • Maple Leafs' Vinni Lettieri: Inks one-year contract

Lettieri signed a one-year contract with the Maple Leafs on Friday. Per PuckPedia, it's a one-way deal worth $850,000.

Lettieri had 14 goals, 42 points and 32 PIM in 55 regular-season outings with AHL Toronto in 2025-26. He added another 11 goals, 26 points and 36 PIM in 23 playoff outings in 2026 to help the Marlies win the Calder Cup. Lettieri is slated to participate in the Maple Leafs' training camp, but he'll probably spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

  • Maple Leafs' Cole McWard: Inks two-year deal

McWard signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Thursday, per PuckPedia.

McWard's new deal is a one-way contract in both years. The 25-year-old defenseman has logged nine career NHL games, earning one goal, eight shots on net, nine hits and 11 blocked shots. McWard will likely get a chance to compete for a roster spot with the Maple Leafs in 2026-27, but he'll probably spend most of the campaign with AHL Toronto.

  • Maple Leafs' Henrik Rybinski: Links up with Toronto

Rybinski signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs on Thursday, per PuckPedia.

Rybinski had 30 points in 59 regular-season games with AHL Hershey in 2025-26. He's spent the last four years in the AHL and has yet to make his NHL debut. Expect Rybinski to play much of 2026-27 in the AHL.

  • Maple Leafs' Zack MacEwen: Signs with Toronto

MacEwen (knee) signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

MacEwen has been sidelined since mid-November due to an ACL injury, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for the start of the 2026-27 campaign. He's made 54 regular-season NHL appearances between the Senators and Devils across the last three years, racking up four goals, two assists, 110 hits, 78 PIM and 15 blocked shots while averaging 6:55 of ice time.

  • Maple Leafs' Nick Paul: Heading north

Paul was acquired by Toronto from Tampa Bay on Wednesday in exchange for Dennis Hildeby, a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 third-round selection.

Paul comes with a $3.15 million cap hit through 2028-29, which is very reasonable given the contracts middle-six forwards are receiving thanks to the rising cap. The 31-year-old is coming off a down campaign in which he had seven goals and 15 points in 51 regular-season outings with the Lightning. However, he surpassed the 40-point milestone in each of the 2023-24 and 2024-25 regular seasons. Toronto will probably use him primarily on the third line, and he might also receive some power-play ice time.

  • Maple Leafs' Brandon Duhaime: Inks three-year deal with Toronto

Duhaime signed a three-year, $7.8 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, per PuckPedia.

Duhaime appeared in all 82 regular-season games with the Capitals in each of the past two campaigns. He generated four goals, five assists, 159 hits, 78 PIM and 57 blocked shots while averaging 11:04 of ice time in 2025-26. He will attempt to bounce back with the Maple Leafs after being held to a single-digit point total last year for the first time in five NHL seasons.

  • Maple Leafs' Teddy Blueger: Signing with Toronto

Blueger signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

After appearing in all 82 regular-season games with the Canucks during the 2024-25 campaign, Blueger missed most of the first half of the 2025-26 season due to injury. Overall, he made 35 appearances last year while recording nine goals, eight assists, 55 hits, 22 PIM and 16 blocked shots while averaging 16:31 of ice time.

  • Maple Leafs' Colton Sissons: Joining Maple Leafs

Sissons signed a two-year, $8.5 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

After spending the first 11 campaigns of his career in Nashville, Sissons joined the Golden Knights last year and is on the move again. Across 66 regular-season appearances with Vegas in 2025-26, he recorded six goals, five assists, 93 hits, 46 blocked shots and 28 PIM while averaging 12:30 of ice time.

  • Maple Leafs' Sergei Bobrovsky: Signs three-year deal

Bobrovsky agreed to terms on a three-year, $21 million contract with Toronto on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Bobrovsky figures to immediately step into the top spot between the pipes for the Leafs, which is a blow to Anthony Stolarz's fantasy managers. In the last 10 years, the 37-year-old Bobrovsky has missed the 50-game mark just once, in the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season. For his part, Bobrovsky is coming off the worst save percentage of his career (.877), but he didn't have much in the way of help in front of him, given Florida's extensive injury list. Still, he has plenty of bounce-back appeal.

  • Maple Leafs' Jack Roslovic: Heading to Toronto

Roslovic signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Roslovic will join his fifth team in the last four seasons, though he received a multi-year deal from his new club ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Across 69 regular-season appearances with the Oilers last year, he recorded 21 goals, 15 assists, 46 hits, 27 blocked shots and 16 PIM while averaging 15:46 of ice time. He's racked up at least 30 points in six consecutive seasons, and he should have a chance to carve out a decent role with his new team.

  • Maple Leafs' Troy Stecher: Inks two-year deal

Stecher penned a two-year, $2.7 million contract with Toronto on Monday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Stecher played in 58 regular-season games for the Maple Leafs last year after being plucked off waivers from the Oilers, producing three goals and 11 assists to go with 76 blocked shots and 28 hits. With Brandon Carlo shipped off to St. Louis, the 32-year-old Stecher should see more opportunities, though he's never been much of a power-play contributor.

  • Maple Leafs' Patriks Plumins: Value pick for Leafs

Plumins was the 114th overall pick by Toronto in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Plumins spent last season playing professionally, albeit in a lower-level league in his native Latvia. His numbers (1.50 GAA, .927 save percentage in 16 regular-season games) were awesome, but it was how he finished his year at the World U18's that had everybody talking. Plumins posted a 1.62 GAA and .947 save percentage in five games for the Latvians en route to being named the tournament's top goaltender. All netminders this age are a major risk, but Plumins has size (6-foot-4) and a history of playing well in big spots, so he's as reasonable a selection as any netminder at this stage of the draft.

  • Maple Leafs' Juuso Ainasto: Picked by Toronto in Round 3

Ainasto was the 85th overall pick by Toronto in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

All players taken at this stage of the draft are obviously major risks, especially goaltenders, but Ainasto does bring elite size to the table at 6-foot-4 and close to 200 pounds. He moves well for such a big kid and has spent the past two seasons playing in Jokerit's junior program in Finland. Ranked No. 14 among European goaltenders by NHL Central Scouting, Ainasto should continue to develop in his home country for the foreseeable future.

  • Maple Leafs' Mans Gudmundsson: Reliable defender off to Toronto

Gudmundsson was the 76th overall pick by Toronto in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Checking in at a shade under 6-foot-3, Gudmundsson turned 18 years of age just a couple of weeks before the draft. His game is all about reliability. He had 25 points in 35 games in the Swedish Jr. league this past season and even made his SHL debut, appearing in one game as a 17-year-old. Gudmundsson skates well for a big guy, and he's always played hard. It's a nice all-around package, albeit one that seems likely to result in a somewhat limited ceiling. Gudmundsson, who has represented his country in multiple international tournaments, is likely to remain in Sweden for the time being.
