  • Capitals' Andrew Cristall: Racking up points in WHL

Cristall is leading the WHL in scoring with 35 goals and 60 assists over 40 games between Kelowna and Spokane in 2024-25.

Cristall was traded from the Rockets to the Chiefs on Jan. 8. Since then, the British Columbia native has registered nine goals and 35 points in just 12 games with his new club. That includes three performances of at least five points and eight multi-point efforts altogether. Cristall could prove to be a steal for the Capitals -- the 20-year-old was selected in the second round, 40th overall, in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The left-shot winger, along with Ryan Leonard and Ivan Miroshnichenko, should help balance out Washington's veteran-laden forward group in the coming seasons.

  • Capitals' Cole Hutson: Named Beanpot MVP

Hutson was named the tournament MVP after recording three goals and two assists in the two Beanpot games, Chris Peters of Flo Hockey reports Monday.

Hutson is putting together an impressive freshman campaign at Boston University, registering eight goals and 20 helpers in 26 games for the Terriers. Selected by the Capitals in the second round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the 18-year-old blueliner will likely spend another year or two in college before making the jump to the NHL ranks.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Snags assist in shootout loss

McMichael notched an assist in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

McMichael has two goals and seven helpers over his last 10 outings. The 24-year-old's production looked to have dipped in December and January, but he's bounced back well as he continues his breakout campaign. He's now at 19 goals, 22 helpers, 119 shots on net and a plus-15 rating over 55 appearances and should have a shot at securing his first 60-point season.

  • Capitals' John Carlson: Extends assist streak

Carlson logged an assist and four shots on goal in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

Carlson picked up an assist for the sixth straight game when he helped out on Tom Wilson's game-tying tally late in the third period. The 35-year-old Carlson is up to 35 points over 55 outings, putting him right in line to match his 52-point output from the 2023-24 regular season. He's added 117 shots on net, 93 blocked shots and a plus-20 rating in 2024-25. Carlson wasn't selected to Team USA for the 4 Nations Face-Off, so he'll get some valuable rest over the next two weeks to refresh himself for the stretch run.

  • Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Turns to playmaking Sunday

Ovechkin registered three assists (one on the power play), four shots on goal and three hits in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

Ovechkin's goal streak ended at four games, but he has four goals and five helpers during a five-game point streak. He's also logged multiple hits in all of those contests and multiple shots on net in 13 straight contests. The 39-year-old winger wasn't able to add a goal to his chase of the all-time record, but a trio of helpers makes for a good consolation prize for fantasy managers. He's up to 26 tallies, 43 points (12 on the power play), 141 shots on net, 74 hits and a plus-18 rating through 39 appearances this season.

  • Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Pair of points Sunday

Dubois scored a goal on five shots and added an assist in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

Dubois' pair of points came on the power play, and both were in the first period. The 26-year-old had been held off the scoresheet over the previous two contests, his first multi-game drought since Jan. 10 and 11. The center has a total of 13 goals, 44 points (eight on the power play), 93 shots on net, 45 hits, 42 blocked shots, 38 PIM and a plus-19 rating over 55 appearances in a strong bounce-back campaign. He's on pace to return to the 60-point mark after missing it in 2023-24 with the Kings.

  • Capitals' Dylan Strome: One of each Sunday

Strome scored a goal on two shots and added a power-play assist in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

Strome appeared to be hurt at one point in the third period, but he was able to return to the game, finishing with 18:45 of ice time. He has four goals and four assists during his six-game point streak, which has helped him bounce back after struggling in the middle of January. The center is up to 16 goals, 54 points, 99 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through 55 appearances. If he's dealing with any lingering pain from this contest, he'll have a couple of weeks to rest and heal before the Capitals' schedule resumes Feb. 22 in Pittsburgh.

  • Capitals' Tom Wilson: Three-point effort in shootout loss

Wilson scored twice on five shots and added an assist in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

Wilson's first goal and his assist both came on the power play, and he also redirected in an Alex Ovechkin pass for the game-tying tally late in the third period. With four goals and three assists over his last five outings, Wilson has bounced back from a sluggish January. He's up to 24 goals -- matching his career high -- and 42 points (14 on the power play, two shorthanded) through 55 outings. This is the fourth time in his career that Wilson has reached the 40-point mark, and he's got a good chance of surpassing the career-best 52 he put up in 2021-22. Wilson has added 126 shots on net, 156 hits, 50 PIM and a plus-13 rating this season.

  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: Drops result in shootout

Thompson allowed four goals on 27 shots in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah.

Thompson still hasn't lost in regulation since Dec. 17 -- he's 12-0-3 over his last 15 games. Sunday was just the fifth time in that span he's allowed three or more goals, though he was strong when needed in the third period to help the Capitals snag a standings point. Thompson enters the 4 Nations Face-Off break at 24-2-5 with a 2.23 GAA and a .921 save percentage over 31 games. Despite his strong play, he was left off of Team Canada's roster, so the 27-year-old netminder will have two weeks to rest before a Feb. 22 game in Pittsburgh.

  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: Tending twine Sunday

Thompson will patrol the home crease against Utah on Sunday, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post.

Thompson is coming off a 30-save performance in Tuesday's 6-3 win over Florida. He has a 24-2-4 record with two shutouts, a 2.18 GAA and a .923 save percentage through 30 appearances this season. Utah ranks 24th in the league with 2.78 goals per game in 2024-25 and lost 7-3 to Carolina on Saturday.

  • Capitals' Lars Eller: Ties game in third period

Eller scored a goal and went plus-3 in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Flyers.

Eller has scored in back-to-back games for the first time this season. He netted the equalizer at 6:23 of the third period, tying the game at 3-3. Eller has four points over his last eight contests and a total of 10 goals, 19 points, 67 shots on net, 38 hits, 26 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 52 appearances between the Capitals and the Penguins this season.

  • Capitals' John Carlson: Five-game, five-assist streak

Carlson tallied an assist Thursday in a 4-3 win over Philadelphia.

He has assists (five) in five consecutive games, which matches his best streak this season. Carlson continues to pace toward yet another 50-plus point campaign while blocking a lot of shots. His 3.6 shooting percentage is low this season -- his career average is 6.3. Carlson may see an uptick in goal scoring as Jakob Chychrun's pace slows -- his 12.0 shooting percentage is well above his 7.3 percent career average, and the younger defender has recently gone through his longest goal drought (seven games) of the season.

  • Capitals' Taylor Raddysh: Two apples keep doctor away

Raddysh had two assists in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Flyers.

Raddysh has three points (one goal, two assists) in his last three games and 19 points, including 14 apples, in 53 games played this season. Prior to that, he had just one assist in his previous 15 games. Raddysh doesn't put up enough production in other categories to be fantasy relevant, but it's still a nice night for the pride of Caledon.

  • Capitals' Dylan Strome: Five-game, six-point streak

Strome had an assist in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Flyers.

He's on a five-game, six-point scoring streak that includes three goals and three assists. Strome's assist came on Alex Ovechkin's goal that moved him within 16 of a new NHL all-time record. The center's dream season continues -- he has 52 points (15 goals, 37 assists), including 21 on the power play, in 54 games this season.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Eight points in last nine games

McMichael scored a goal Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Flyers.

He put the Caps up 2-1 early in the second period when he redirected an Aliaksei Protas pass past Ivan Fedotov. It was McMichael's 19th goal -- a new career high -- and 40th point of the season (54 games). He has eight points (two goals, six assists) and 14 shots in his last nine games.

  • Capitals' Jakob Chychrun: Two-point night in win

Chychrun scored a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 4-3 win against Philadelphia.

Chychrun scored the winner at 12:05 of the third period on a snap shot from the left face-off circle. It was his 14th of the season which moves him into a tie with Quinn Hughes (lower body) for third overall for NHL defenders. The goal was Chychrun's first in eight games. That's the longest goal drought for the hard-shooting defender this season, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. Some regression was expected for Chychrun, who has been scoring at a 12.7 percent success rate, -- that's significantly higher than his career 7.3 percent. Still, he's a solid fantasy play. His 34 points (49 games) put him in the top 15 in the NHL.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Grounds Flyers with strong effort

Lindgren notched a win Thursday with a 19-save performance against the Flyers. The final score was 4-3.

Lindgren was sharp, handing the Flyers their seventh loss in eight games. He was beaten twice by Matvei Michkov, and Tyson Foerster put a power-play snipe past him. Lindgren is 2-1-1 with one shutout, 10 goals allowed and a .903 save percentage in four starts since his upper-body injury. He and Logan Thompson have been time-sharing starts since his return from injury, and that will likely continue even with Thompson's recent contract extension (six years, $35.1 million).

  • Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Multi-category four-game streak

Ovechkin scored a goal in Thursday's 4-3 win against the Flyers. It was goal 879 of his career.

He snapped a shot past Ivan Fedotov, going far side from the right circle in the last minute of the first period. Ovechkin is now 16 goals to 895 and overtaking Wayne Gretzky for the most career NHL goals. He has a goal in each of his last four games (six points) and 26 snipes on the season. He also has 12 hits and 14 shots in that span. Ovechkin's longevity is impressive. He's delivering yet another point-per-game pace (40 in 38 games), and he's on his best goal pace in several seasons. Gretzky's record is within reach in 2024-25.
