Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Goal, assist help defeat Canada
Larkin had a goal and an assist Saturday in Team USA's 3-1 win against Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.
Larkin's shot was near perfect. He broke in on a 2-on-1 with J.T. Miller in the second period and fired a blocker-side shot from the right circle past Jordan Binnington. Larkin earned the game's second star for his work. Team USA face Sweden on Monday night in Boston with a guaranteed spot in the final already secured.

Red Wings' Trey Augustine: Racking up wins in NCAA
Augustine has won two of his last three outings to improve to 15-5-3 through 23 appearances this season with Michigan State University.
Augustine has posted a 2.07 GAA and a .926 save percentage this season, improving from a 2.96 GAA and a .915 save percentage across 35 appearances during his freshman campaign in 2023-24. He has allowed two goals or fewer in four of his last seven starts. The Red Wings selected the 19-year-old netminder in the second round, with the No. 41 pick, of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Excellent in third pro season
Cossa has gone 14-9-3 with a 2.23 GAA and a .918 save percentage over 26 games with AHL Grand Rapids this season.
Cossa also made his NHL debut Dec. 10, 2024, allowing two goals on 14 shots. His AHL numbers are better in 2024-25 than they were last year -- he had a 2.41 GAA and a .913 save percentage over 40 outings in 2023-24. With all of Alex Lyon, Ville Husso and Jack Campbell coming off the books this summer, Cossa may be given a chance to claim an NHL job in the fall, though the team is likely to sign at least one other veteran goalie to keep the organizational depth steady. Cossa is not far off from being an impact player in fantasy, especially if the Red Wings continue to improve overall.

Red Wings' Nate Danielson: Slumping at AHL level
Danielson has not had a point in his last eight AHL contests.
Danielson was selected ninth overall in 2023 and is spending his first professional season with AHL Grand Rapids, where he has four goals and 18 assists in 45 appearances. Danielson is expected to be a middle-two center at the NHL level, as he has a strong two-way game. He could get a taste of NHL action later in the season, once he snaps out of his current slump.

Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: Third star In loss at 4 Nations
Raymond tallied two assists Wednesday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
The 22-year-old stood out all night long, and he earned the game's third star for the effort. He even threw down one his somewhat patented shot-fake to backdoor passes to Joel Eriksson Ek for the game-tying goal in the third. Raymond rode a three-game, three-point streak (11 shots) into the tournament, and he was trusted in big situations including the last two minutes of the game. This tournament could be Raymond's ascension into stardom. Or at least wide-spread awareness of his excellence. He's that good

Red Wings' Michael Brandsegg-Nygard: Holding his own in Sweden
Brandsegg-Nygard has five goals and 11 points in 31 appearances with SHL Skelleftea this season.
Those offensive numbers might not jump out as being impressive, but keep in mind that Brandsegg-Nygard is a 19-year-old playing in a men's pro league. He's the youngest player to record at least one point with Skelleftea this campaign. Brandsegg-Nygard likely still needs time to develop, so it'll be difficult for him to make the jump to the NHL next season, but he does have the potential to become a solid winger for the Red Wings in the years to come. Detroit selected him with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, which makes him the highest Norway-born player.

Red Wings' Elmer Soderblom: Heads to AHL
Soderblom was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday.
Soderblom is likely to be back with the big club in time for the Red Wings' Feb. 22 game against the Wild. In the meantime, his demotion saves Detroit cap space.

Red Wings' Marco Kasper: Reassigned Saturday
Kasper was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday.
Kasper's demotion during the 4 Nations Face-Off is likely just a cap-saving maneuver by the Red Wings. He should be back in a top-six role for the Feb. 22 contest against the Wild.

Red Wings' Erik Gustafsson: Goes cold on offense
Gustafsson went an 11th straight game without a point in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning.
Gustafsson is minus-7 in that span while seeing time on the third pairing and second power-play unit. The Red Wings' offense has leaned more heavily on the team's top players under head coach Todd McLellan, leaving little chance for Gustafsson to get involved on offense. The veteran blueliner has 13 points, a minus-16 rating, 53 shots on net, 34 blocked shots and 20 PIM through 47 outings this season.

Red Wings' Justin Holl: Enters break in slump
Holl was held off the scoresheet for the 14th consecutive game in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning.
Holl went minus-4 with 12 blocked shots in that span. The 33-year-old has settled into a third-pairing role during the absence of Jeff Petry (undisclosed), and barring any trades for defensive reinforcements, Holl should resume playing there when the Red Wings' schedule restarts Feb. 22 versus the Wild. He's unlikely to interest most fantasy managers given his lack of offense -- he has five points with 20 shots on net, 51 blocked shots, 25 hits and a minus-7 rating over 47 outings this season.

Red Wings' Patrick Kane: First goal since return from injury
Kane scored a power-play goal in a 6-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.
He one-timed an Alex DeBrincat pass across the slot past Andrei Vasilevskiy to pull the Wings to within two in the first period. It was Kane's first goal and point in three games since his return from an upper-body injury. Kane is on pace to deliver more than 50 points this season, with about half on the power play. There's value in that profile, even if he's a risk for injury and a plus-minus liability (minus-11).

Red Wings' Vladimir Tarasenko: Gets 300th NHL goal
Tarasenko scored a goal Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the Lightning.
He scored early in the first period, tipping Moritz Seider's pass between Andrei Vasilevskiy's pads for his 300th NHL goal. Tarasenko had been stalled at 299 since Jan. 14th, a span of 10 games. He's had a forgettable season with just seven goals and 22 points in 53 games. It's fair to say that Tarasenko has been a poor fit in Detroit. There have been murmurs that he could be on the move in a trade, even with a two-year deal and no-trade clause. Keep an eye on this because a new home could result in a big scoring boost for this talented winger.

Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Four-game, seven-point streak
DeBrincat had a goal and two assists in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning.
His goal was a good one -- DeBrincat stole the puck from Darren Raddysh in the second period and quickly beat Andrei Vasilevskiy to cut the lead to 4-3. DeBrincat has three goals on 16 shots and four assists during his four-game point streak. If he can continue at this pace, DeBrincat will deliver his fourth 30-plus goal and fifth 65-plus point season.

Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Forced into relief early
Talbot allowed three goals on 14 shots in relief and took the loss in a 6-3 defeat against Tampa Bay on Saturday after Alex Lyon got the hook at 2:56 of the first period.
The Red Wings struggled from the drop of the puck, and Lyon allowed two goals on three shots. Talbot allowed two more in the next 11-plus minutes, and Detroit never recovered. The loss was Talbot's first in six games, snapping a five-game run of wins. He was 10-1-0 before Saturday in games played in 2025. He's helped get the Wings into a Wild Card spot, so the two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off will help the 37-year-old Talbot get some much-needed rest for the remainder of the season.

Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Rough outing leads to early hook
Lyon was chased from Saturday's game against Tampa Bay after yielding two goals on three shots.
He lasted until the 2:56 mark of the first period. Lyon's start was the shortest by a Detroit goalie since Jimmy Howard left a 3-1 loss to Washington due to an injury after 1:53 of a game on Jan. 10, 2015. Lyon had won his previous two starts going into Saturday's game. He will have two weeks to rest before the Red Wings host the Wild on Feb. 22 after the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

Following a five-game absence, Compher will return to the lineup against Tampa Bay on Saturday. Lyon is 10-6-1 with a 2.58 GAA and a .908 save percentage across 21 games this season. Lyon has a tough matchup as the Lightning are scoring 3.49 goals per game, third in the NHL this season.

Red Wings' J.T. Compher: Set to return against Bolts
Compher (upper body) looks poised to return to the lineup versus the Lightning on Saturday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
According to head coach Todd McLellan, he is still awaiting final medical clearance for Compher but is expecting the winger to be available Saturday. Assume he does return, the 29-year-old Compher figures to slot into a middle-six role and will undoubtedly be eager to end his seven-game goal drought during which he managed just one helper and 11 shots.
