Analysis

I feel this line is a gift from the sportsbooks so take that for what it's worth. The Brewers are 8-1 in their last nine home series', including 5-0 after the All-Star Break. After a 22-0 thrashing on Tuesday, Milwaukee fell to Seattle 7-5 on Wednesday but rallied late after a dreadful start. Mariners starter George Kirby enters with a 4.55 road ERA and 5.05 daytime ERA, neither of which bode well on the road at one of the National League's best teams. Robert Gasser is nothing special as a starter for the Brewers, but Seattle's lineup isn't very good so he should have a better than average outing. I'm risking 1.5 units for the first time in a while on an MLB play.

Analysis

This isn't so much about Grant Holmes himself as it is I think the Braves need him to eat at least five innings even if he's getting hit around a bit because this is an awful spot in the schedule for Atlanta. It just got swept in the Twin Cities on Wednesday, had to fly late to the Windy City for this makeup game and then I assume bus immediately out for a big series in Milwaukee. So, yeah, for this "pit-stop" game you leave Holmes out there a bit -- to save the bullpen for the weekend as best as possible after using four guys Wednesday -- whereas maybe you wouldn't otherwise. The model has him at 5.5 innings.

Analysis

Gavin Williams is one of the biggest K machines in baseball with 190 in 149 innings this season. The Giants' K rate is low, but increasing as the season goes. They struck out 10 times against Parker Messick Wednesday. Williams recently had five straight 10-K games. He only had five last time out, but there's no reason regression should be hitting.

Analysis

Getaway day and obviously a crazy body-clock time for the Giants and for these purposes, I'm glad they pulled the upset last night. Because a playoff hopeful like the Guards simply can't lose a home series like this. I don't know if MLB managers give pep talks like that before a Thursday matinee but I'm sure it's made clear this would be an unacceptable loss. Pitching matchup sure favors Cleveland with Gavin Williams (11-7, 3.74 ERA) vs. SF's Landen Roupp (0-3, 5.74 ERA this month). This may close near -200 and one of our books is already about there. Certainly a spot where -1 would be fine if want to save 40 cents or so.

Analysis

A late add of the Cardinals ML as I noticed that starting pitcher Michael McGreevy has held current Reds hitters to a .103 average over 39 at bats. Plus, St. Louis has won his last three starts and McGreevy has a daytime ERA of 2.61, nearly 1.5 runs lower than at night. Brady Singer is the opposite for Cincinnati, with a 5.57 daytime ERA vs. 4.20 at night. Give me the Cardinals to win this rare five game series with a victory this afternoon.
