Vikings' Caleb Banks: Expected back for training camp
    3d ago

Coach Kevin O'Connell said in June that Banks (foot), who did not participate in spring practices, is expected to be ready by the start of training camp, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.

Minnesota's rookies are set to report to training camp by July 26, with training camp kicking off for the full team Aug. 1. The Vikings took a cautious approach in the spring with Banks, whom Minnesota drafted 18th overall in April. He sat out spring practices while recovering from a broken bone in his foot, which the defensive tackle out of Florida sustained at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.

Jets' Omar Cooper: Solidifying spot in three-wide sets
    6d ago

Cooper was the Jets' most impressive rookie in spring practices and looks to have solidified his spot in three-receiver sets, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

The Jets traded up into the first round to draft Cooper 30th overall. The versatile rookie out of Indiana played both on the outside and in the slot in college, which should help Cooper get on the field consistently alongside Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell. Per Geoffrey A. Knox of USA Today Jets Wire, Mitchell and slot receiver option Isaiah Williams were two of the Jets' top performers during the offseason program, so Cooper will need to continue building on his strong spring to secure playing time. That being said, Cimini expects Cooper's physical playing style to help the rookie shine even more once the pads come on in training camp.

Wells earned the save in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Reds, allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not record a strikeout.

With Ryan Helsley (elbow) back on the injured list, Wells has been summoned for two straight save chances and delivered on both. He owns a 3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 43:10 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season and appears to be the early favorite to replace Helsley in the ninth inning as long as he continues to pitch well.

Young (7-2) earned the win against the Reds on Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings.

Young allowed four runs through the first two innings but finished with three scoreless and benefited from an eight-run outburst from the Orioles. The 25-year-old, who recently earned his first career All-Star nod, was able to turn the page on a subpar June in which he went 1-4 with a 4.26 ERA. A solo homer in the fifth inning was the only blemish on Burke's performance as he generated 16 whiffs on 95 pitches while registering a career-high 11 strikeouts. It continued a strong run for the 26-year-old, who's worked into the sixth inning or beyond in four straight outings while allowing just five earned runs during that span. Kings' Nique Clifford: Sinks game-winning shot Saturday
    9h ago

Clifford finished with nine points (4-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists across 29 minutes in Saturday's 79-76 California Classic Summer League win over Brooklyn.

Clifford didn't shoot well Saturday, though he managed to hit the game-winning three-point shot in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Kings. The 24-year-old is coming off a quality rookie campaign, averaging 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.4 blocks and 1.2 steals in 28 regular-season starts. Clifford may not get as many opportunities to start in 2026-27, barring injuries, as the Kings went through a laundry list of injuries in 2025-26 that yielded more time for Clifford. However, he should at least receive consistent playing time.

Nets' Drake Powell: Struggles in loss to Sacramento
    9h ago

Powell finished with four points (0-9 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and one steal over 24 minutes in Saturday's 79-76 California Classic Summer League loss to the Kings.

Powell couldn't get anything going to begin the California version of Summer League. He went 0-for-9 from the field (0-for-5 from three-point range) while committing three turnovers. The 2025 No. 22 overall pick averaged 6.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.2 blocks and 0.6 steals across 21.0 minutes in 63 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Although his first year wasn't the worst, he has more work to do in order to carve out a routine spot in the rotation heading into the 2026-27 campaign. His odds of accomplishing that won't improve unless he turns it around this summer.

Nets' Ben Saraf: Logs team-high 27 minutes in loss
    9h ago

Saraf finished with 10 points (4-10 FG, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one block across 27 minutes in Saturday's 79-76 California Classic Summer League loss to Sacramento.

Saraf had a slow start to his inaugural season in 2025-26. However, he had a strong finish to the campaign by averaging 14.0 points, 3.8 assists and 1.0 steals across five regular-season games in April. Saraf's production could improve in 2026-27, though he won't have an easy path to substantial playing time, especially with Egor Demin (foot) healthy and Nolan Traore looking for minutes. Additionally, the Nets added Louisville guard Mikel Brown using the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Nets' Tyler Bilodeau: Scores nine points in loss

Bilodeau finished with nine points (4-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one block over 23 minutes in Saturday's 79-76 California Classic Summer League loss to Sacramento.

Bilodeau played well enough in his first Summer League game, though he was still the second-lowest scoring starter behind Drake Powell, who finished with four points. The 22-year-old finished his collegiate career by appearing in 31 games for UCLA in 2025-26, averaging 17.6 points, 1.1 assists, 0.4 blocks and 0.5 steals on an efficient 46.4 percent shooting from deep across 30.2 minutes. With Michael Porter and Julius Randle on the roster, Bilodeau should receive most of his minutes off the bench during the 2026-27 campaign. He could also see some action at the center position if head coach Jordi Fernandez opts to stretch the floor.

Mogbo finished with six points (3-5 FG, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, two steals and five blocks across 32 minutes in Saturday's 79-76 California Classic Summer League victory over the Nets.

Mogbo wasn't heavily involved offensively, though he got after it on the defensive end by accruing a game-high five blocks to help lead the Kings to a narrow win. Mogbo, the No. 31 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, spent his first two seasons in Toronto, where he averaged 4.4 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 blocks and 0.3 steals over 14.9 minutes in 103 regular-season contests. While Mogbo has some positive attributes, he will need to improve in several areas if he hopes to earn a meaningful role with the Kings beyond a two-way contract.

Cardwell finished with eight points (3-4 FG, 1-6 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and four blocks across 28 minutes in Saturday's 79-76 California Classic Summer League win over Brooklyn.

Cardwell didn't do much on the offensive end, though he shined defensively by accumulating two steals and four blocks. The 24-year-old averaged 5.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.5 blocks and 0.7 steals over 20.6 minutes in 44 regular-season appearances with the Kings in 2025-26. While Cardwell has plenty to offer, he may have trouble finding minutes behind Domantas Sabonis (knee) and Maxime Raynaud. He will also need to address his free-throw shooting. If not, Cardwell could have an even tougher time getting involved.
