  • Sharks' Ty Dellandrea: Still day-to-day

Dellandrea (upper body) remains day-to-day, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Friday.

Dellandrea did skate on the fourth line during Friday's practice, but it seems his status for Saturday's game against Vancouver remains uncertain. He has one goal, two PIM, six shots and 24 hits in nine outings with the Sharks in 2024-25. If Dellandrea is able to play Saturday, then Danil Gushchin might be a healthy scratch.

  • Sharks' Cody Ceci: Puts up assist

Ceci logged an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Ceci has two helpers through 12 contests this season. The 30-year-old has received a big opportunity in San Jose -- he's seeing top-four minutes, to the tune of 22:35 of ice time per game, his largest share since 2018-19. Ceci doesn't have a lot of scoring upside, though he's topped the 25-point mark on four occasions in his first 11 NHL seasons. This year, he's added 17 shots on net, 20 hits, 21 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating.

  • Sharks' Luke Kunin: Lends assist Thursday

Kunin notched an assist and two hits in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Kunin has a helper in each of the last two games, and he's gotten on the scoresheet in three of the last four contests. The 26-year-old forward set up Will Smith's first career goal at 6:52 of the first period. Kunin now has four points, 18 shots on net, 26 hits, 17 blocked shots, 13 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 12 appearances. He can bring physicality and some defensive stats in a middle-six role, but Kunin's typically not much of a scorer, which hinders his fantasy value.

  • Sharks' Jake Walman: Generates helper in win

Walman logged an assist, two shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Walman helped out on an Alexander Wennberg tally in the second period, which tied the game at 2-2. With seven points over his last three games, Walman has exploded on offense as the Sharks have won three in a row. The 28-year-old defenseman is up to nine points, 32 shots on net, 19 blocked shots, 14 hits, 12 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 12 appearances. He's already nearly halfway to his production from 63 games in 2023-24 -- a top-pairing role and power-play spot in San Jose has made Walman a viable option in standard fantasy formats, though he won't sustain his recent scoring pace.

  • Sharks' Fabian Zetterlund: Point streak up to four games

Zetterlund logged an assist, three hits and two PIM in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Zetterlund has racked up three goals and two assists during a four-game point streak. He's been a key part of the Sharks' offense as they've turned things around following a nine-game winless stretch to begin the year. The winger has eight points, 28 shots on net, 29 hits and a plus-1 rating over 12 appearances this season.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Stays warm with goal

Wennberg scored a goal and blocked two shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Wennberg has two goals and four assists over his last five contests. The 30-year-old center has warmed up, and it's helped the Sharks be more successful as a team. In addition to his six points, he has 17 shots on net, 13 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating through 12 appearances. Three of his points have come on the power play.

  • Sharks' Will Smith: Tallies first two goals

Smith scored twice on three shots, including one power-play goal, in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Smith hadn't logged a point in his first eight NHL appearances. The 19-year-old center changed that, opening the scoring in the first period and then adding a power-play game-winner midway through the second. He's added 14 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-3 rating over nine contests. Smith has sat out three times so far, including one game in each of the Sharks' first two back-to-back sets. He will likely continue to have his minutes managed as he adjusts from the NCAA schedule to a full-length NHL campaign, so don't be surprised to see him be a healthy scratch with some regularity.

  • Sharks' Mackenzie Blackwood: Wins again Thursday

Blackwood stopped 28 of 30 shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Blackwood picked up his second win in a row, getting help from Will Smith's first two NHL goals and another Alexander Wennberg tally. The Sharks have won three games in a row after losing their first nine contests. Blackwood has a 2-3-2 record with a 3.59 GAA and an .895 save percentage over seven appearances, and he has a slight edge over Vitek Vanecek for playing time. The Sharks' next game is Saturday at home versus the Canucks.

  • Sharks' Mackenzie Blackwood: Facing Blackhawks

Blackwood was the first netminder off the ice at morning practice, per Max Miller of NHL.com, and is slated to defend the home crease versus Chicago on Thursday.

Blackwood picked up the overtime win Monday despite stopping only 19 of 23 shots in a 5-4 victory over Utah. The 27-year-old netminder is 1-3-2 with a 3.89 GAA and .888 save percentage. He is currently the No. 1 goaltender with the Sharks, but that may not last long, as Yaroslav Askarov is 5-0-0 with a 1.20 GAA and .959 save percentage at AHL San Jose after another brilliant performance Wednesday, stopping 36 shots in a 5-1 win over Coachella Valley. Blackwood will face the Blackhawks, who are averaging 2.70 goals per game.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Getting close to return

Celebrini (lower body) will return to team activities Thursday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.

Celebrini has made positive progress of late and is gearing up to return to the lineup. He has been out of action since Opening Night, when he had a goal and an assist in his NHL debut. Celebrini has missed the last 10 games and is likely out at least another week, but he is getting closer to a return.

  • Sharks' Timothy Liljegren: Dealt to San Jose

Liljegren was traded from the Maple Leafs to the Sharks on Wednesday, in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick, a 2026 sixth-round pick and Matt Benning.

Liljegren has fallen out of favor with the Maple Leafs, but he should get a larger opportunity to play with the Sharks. The 25-year-old is also under contract for one more year. Liljegren will likely get bottom-four minutes once he makes his Sharks debut, but the lack of proven talent on his new team's blue line gives him a better chance to earn a bigger role.

  • Sharks' Mario Ferraro: Adds assist

Ferraro recorded an assist, six hits and six blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.

Ferraro's two helpers this season have come over the last three games. The 26-year-old defenseman continues to see top-four minutes, but he plays in a shutdown role that is unlikely to yield much offense for a team that struggles to score. He has accumulated 30 hits, 24 blocked shots, 13 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 11 appearances.

  • Sharks' Carl Grundstrom: Finds assist in win

Grundstrom posted an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.

Grundstrom helped out on a Jake Walman tally early in the second period. The 26-year-old Grundstrom has filled a fourth-line role when in the lineup, but he's also twice been a healthy scratch. The winger has two assists, seven shots on net, four PIM, 25 hits and a minus-2 rating over nine appearances. Grundstrom will compete with the likes of Ethan Cardwell, Klim Kostin and Givani Smith for playing time.

  • Sharks' Nico Sturm: Logs helper Tuesday

Sturm notched an assist and two hits in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.

Sturm picked up his third point of the season and his second in the last three games when he set up Jake Walman's opening goal at 2:20 of the second period. The 29-year-old Sturm is firmly in a fourth-line role, giving him little opportunity to help on offense. The center has collected 18 hits, six shots on net and a minus-4 rating through 11 appearances.

  • Sharks' Luke Kunin: Posts helper in win

Kunin logged an assist, two shots on goal, two hits, two PIM and three blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.

Kunin set up William Eklund's empty-net tally to seal the Sharks' second win in a row. After a slow start to the year, Kunin has a goal and an assist over his last three outings. He's at three points, 17 shots on net, 24 hits, 16 blocked shots, 13 PIM and a minus-2 rating through 11 contests overall. The 26-year-old offers grit and decent defensive play in a middle-six role, though his offense is likely to remain limited.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Generates assist in win

Wennberg notched an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.

Wennberg's resurgence on offense has seen him pick up five points over his last four games. That's all of his scoring this season, and the center has added 16 shots on net, 11 blocked shots, eight hits and a minus-3 rating through 11 appearances. Wennberg looks set to hold down the second-line center spot until Macklin Celebrini (lower body) is able to return, at which point Wennberg would likely move to the third line.

  • Sharks' William Eklund: Puts away empty-netter

Eklund scored an empty-net goal on three shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.

Eklund has two goals and three assists over his last six games. The 22-year-old winger hasn't been particularly flashy, but he's been consistent while seeing top-six usage for the Sharks -- his 18:26 of ice time Tuesday was a season low. He's collected eight points, 23 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 10 appearances, and while the scoring pace might dip, he should do better than the 45-point campaign he had in 2023-24.
