Top Ducks News

  • Ducks' Nikita Nesterenko: Pots goal in OT loss

Nesterenko scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars. He also recorded two shots, two hits and a plus-1 rating.

Nesterenko has found the back of the net in back-to-back games for the Ducks, but the team has lost both contests. The 23-year-old has been limited to just 10 games this season, but he's notched three goals, an assist, nine shots, 24 hits and six blocked shots in that span, so he's doing his best effort to make sure his presence gets noted every time he's on the ice.

  • Ducks' Leo Carlsson: Scores twice vs. Dallas

Carlsson scored two goals, including one on the power play, and took three shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Carlsson was the Ducks' biggest offensive threat in this contest, and the 20-year-old continues to show he can be a reliable fantasy option despite the fact he's only in his second year in the league. Carlsson has already surpassed what he accomplished as a rookie, and he's up to 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 62 contests in 2024-25.

  • Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Tagged with OT loss Tuesday

Dostal stopped 27 of 31 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Dostal has dropped three of his last four starts, and he's posted a save percentage of .880 or lower in the three losses he's endured over that stretch. The netminder has been a workhorse for the Ducks since he's started in all but two of the team's games since the 4 Nations break, going 5-5-2 with a 3.26 GAA and a .896 save percentage over that 12-game stretch.

  • Ducks' John Gibson: Not ready to suit up

Gibson (lower body) won't suit up for Tuesday's game versus the Stars, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.

Gibson was not expected to start Tuesday, but he also won't be able to back up. The 31-year-old netminder is on the Ducks' road trip and appears to be closing in on a return, so it's possible he could return for Thursday's game against the Predators.

  • Ducks' John Gibson: Game-time call in Dallas

Gibson (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's road matchup versus the Stars, according to Derek Lee of The Hockey News.

If Gibson is able to suit up Tuesday, he will be the No. 2 option behind Lukas Dostal. Gibson's last appearance was March 5 against Vancouver. Once he's given the green light, Ville Husso will probably be relegated to AHL San Diego.

  • Ducks' Ross Johnston: Likely won't play on road trip

Johnston (upper body) did not travel with the team for its two-game road trip, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports Tuesday.

Anaheim will face Dallas on Tuesday before wrapping up its brief two-game road trip Thursday in Nashville, so Johnston will presumably not be available until at least Sunday versus Carolina. The 31-year-old winger has chipped in one goal and three helpers across 43 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Ducks' Sam Colangelo: Skips road trip

Colangelo (upper body) didn't travel with the Ducks for their two-game road trip, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports Tuesday.

Colangelo has already missed a pair of games due to his upper-body issue and will now be sidelined for two more. Prior to getting hurt, the 23-year-old winger was rolling offensively with five goals and one assist in his last six outings. With Colangelo and Ross Johnston both on the shelf, Nikita Nesterenko should get an extended look at the NHL level.

  • Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Poised to start Tuesday

Dostal is expected to tend the twine on the road against the Stars on Tuesday, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.

Dostal looks to be back in the crease after getting the hook against the Blues on Sunday. In that appearance, the 24-year-old netminder gave up five goals on 14 shots (.643 save percentage). Still, the Czech native has already set a new personal high with 20 wins this year and is currently sporting a career-best 2.94 GAA that he'll look to maintain the rest of the way.

  • Ducks' Radko Gudas: Ends drought with helper

Gudas notched an assist in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Blues.

Gudas snapped an 11-game point drought when he helped out on a Cutter Gauthier tally in the second period. The 34-year-old Gudas has made small contributions on offense with 14 points over 66 outings, but he's been a defensive stalwart on a team whose blue line has undergone many changes this season. The heavy-hitting defenseman has added 231 hits, 148 blocked shots, 72 shots on net, 72 PIM and a plus-8 rating in 2024-25.

  • Ducks' Mason McTavish: Notches two helpers in loss

McTavish recorded two assists, two shots on goal and two PIM in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Blues.

McTavish has racked up four goals and five assists over nine outings in March. The center also had one of his strongest games at the faceoff dot this season, winning 11 of 13 draws. The 22-year-old is up to 18 goals, 22 assists, 125 shots on net, 57 hits, 32 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 61 appearances. He's three points shy of matching his career high, and given his momentum this month, he's got a good chance of challenging the 50-point mark by the end of the campaign.

  • Ducks' Nikita Nesterenko: Scores in blowout loss Sunday

Nesterenko scored a goal and blocked two shots in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Blues.

Nesterenko has taken over the spot of Sam Colangelo (upper body) on the Ducks' third line in the short term. He converted the Ducks' second goal Sunday off a primary assist from Cutter Gauthier. Nesterenko has three points, seven shots on net, 22 hits and six blocked shots over nine NHL outings this season. It's unclear if he'll be able to prove himself enough to stay with the big club once Colangelo or Robby Fabbri (upper body) return to the lineup.

  • Ducks' Cutter Gauthier: Collects two points in loss

Gauthier scored a goal on three shots and added an assist in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Blues.

Gauthier broke up Jordan Binnington's shutout bid in the second period and also set up a Nikita Nesterenko tally in the third. The goal was Gauthier's first in March, but he's added eight assists over nine outings while finally finding some success in a third-line role. Overall, the 21-year-old rookie has 13 goals, 21 helpers, 143 shots on net, 52 hits, 39 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 67 appearances.

  • Ducks' Ville Husso: Allows two goals in relief outing

Husso stopped 10 of 12 shots in relief of Lukas Dostal in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Blues.

Husso played in the third period, but the Blues didn't let up their pressure from earlier in the game. While he won't wear the loss for this performance, Husso has now allowed five goals on 51 shots over two outings with the Ducks, a fairly pedestrian showing. He is 1-6-2 with a 3.71 GAA and an .874 save percentage over 11 games when accounting for his time with the Red Wings earlier in the season. Husso will remain in the NHL until John Gibson (lower body) is cleared to return, but he's likely to stay in the backup role.

  • Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Chased after two periods

Dostal stopped nine of 14 shots in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Blues.

Dostal lasted two periods before Ville Husso was brought in to do some mop-up duty against one of his former teams. The 24-year-old Dostal has seen a heavy workload in the absence of John Gibson (lower body), and it may be wearing on the Czech netminder. Dostal is 3-4-0 with 19 goals allowed on 188 shots (.899 save percentage) over seven games in March. For the season, he's at a 20-18-5 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 43 appearances. The Ducks' road trip continues Tuesday in Dallas, which is a matchup Dostal's fantasy managers may want to avoid, though he did win a 4-2 game with a 34-save effort in Dallas on Nov. 18.

  • Ducks' Stian Solberg: Heading to North America

Solberg was assigned to AHL San Diego from Farjestad of the Swedish Hockey League on Sunday.

Solberg, the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft, will make his debut in North America after tallying three goals and 12 points in 47 games in the SHL. Still only 19 years old, the Norwegian blueliner is a highly-regarded defensive prospect, though he'll likely need some time to develop in the AHL.

  • Ducks' Sam Colangelo: Sitting out Sunday

Colangelo (upper body) won't play against St. Louis on Sunday, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.

Colangelo will miss his second straight game. He has contributed six goals, one assist, 28 shots on net and 42 hits through 20 NHL appearances this season. Due to the absences of Colangelo and Ross Johnston (upper body), Nikita Nesterenko and Jansen Harkins will be in the lineup versus the Blues on Sunday.
