Bills' Ray Davis: Scores in second preseason game
Davis rushed seven times for 21 yards and a touchdown while adding a 10-yard catch on his lone target in Saturday's 31-7 preseason win over the Browns.
Davis got the start at running back due to James Cook resting. Davis, a 2024 fourth-round pick, capped Buffalo's opening drive with a one-yard touchdown run and stayed in for the team's second possession. Cook will continue to lead Buffalo's backfield in the regular season as long as he's healthy, but Davis would be a must-roster fantasy option running behind Buffalo's elite offensive line if Cook gets hurt.

Bills' Khalil Shakir: Won't play Saturday
Shakir (undisclosed) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Cleveland, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Shakir will join DJ Moore, Keon Coleman (foot/toe), Joshua Palmer and Skyler Bell (lower body) on the sidelines for Saturday's exhibition contest. Shakir is currently working through an unspecified injury, and while it doesn't appear to be a severe issue, it could prevent him from playing in the Bills' preseason finale against the Steelers on Thursday.

Bills' Skyler Bell: Won't play Saturday
Bell (lower body) will not participate in Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Bell has been limited in practice due to a lower-body injury he sustained in practice before last week's preseason opener against the Panthers. The Bills made it clear the injury was very surmountable, but the team is being careful with the rookie fourth-rounder until the regular season commences.

Bills' Keon Coleman: Not slated to play Saturday
Coleman (right foot/toe) isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Coleman suffered a sprained right foot/toe during the Bills' preseason opener against the Panthers this past Saturday, when he caught three passes (on four targets) for 17 yards and a touchdown in a 29-14 win. Coleman will be joined by DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir (undisclosed), Joshua Palmer and Skyler Bell (lower body) on the sidelines for Saturday's exhibition contest, leaving Mecole Hardman, Trent Sherfield and Dante Pettis as the Bills' top pass catchers

Bills' Josh Allen: Will sit Saturday
Allen will sit for Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Allen played in the preseason opener against the Panthers on Saturday, Aug. 15, when he completed six of eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in a 29-14 win. However, it looks like the superstar quarterback and other key skill position players will be sidelined against Cleveland. It's unclear whether Allen will also be held out of the Bills' preseason finale against the Steelers this upcoming Thursday.

Bills' Jackson Hawes: Talked up by Allen
Hawes drew some praise from Josh Allen for his pass-catching skills Thursday, Alex Brasky of SI.com reports.
"Everyone thinks of Jackson as the blocking tight end," Allen said. "He has some nuance to his receiving game. His hands are better than people give him credit for. He stays quiet, makes plays." Across 17 regular-season appearances last season, Hawes played 487 offensive snaps and was asked to block on 384 of those. On 103 routes, Hawes caught 16 of his 19 targets for 187 yards and three touchdowns. While Allen credited Hawes for his receiving acumen, the tight end isn't expected to be a featured player in the Buffalo passing game this season.

Bills' Skyler Bell: Back to side work Thursday
Bell (lower body) was present for Thursday's practice but was limited to side work, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Bell missed Buffalo's preseason opener last week and still isn't quite yet 100 percent ahead of Saturday's exhibition. The fourth-round rookie should make the Bills' 53-man roster, but him potentially not being able to practice much or play in preseason games would likely hurt his chances for earning a role on game days to begin the regular season.

Bills' DJ Moore: Taking part in team drills Thursday
Moore (lower body) is participating in team drills Thursday, Matthew Bove of 7 News WKBW reports.
Moore was limited in practice Tuesday after getting banged up in preseason action Saturday against the Panthers. He has progressed back to full participation Thursday, indicating that the injury is no longer hampering him. Buffalo is battling injuries to its wide receiver room behind Moore, as Khalil Shakir (undisclosed), Keon Coleman (foot) and Skyler Bell (lower body) are all hurt.

Bills' Khalil Shakir: Managing unspecified injury
Shakir (undisclosed) didn't practice Tuesday due to an injury, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
The nature of Shakir's injury has not been revealed. He seems unlikely to suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, though no official declaration has come on that front. DJ Moore (lower body), Keon Coleman (foot) and Skyler Bell (lower body) are also dealing with injuries in Buffalo's banged-up wide receiver room.

Bills' Greg Gaines: Signs with Buffalo
The Bills signed Gaines to a contract Tuesday.
Gaines is a 6-foot-1, 312-pound nose tackle. The Bills' defense currently has standout second-year player Deone Walker set to fill the starting nose tackle role, but the team does not have much further depth at the position. Gaines is a strong space eater with a chance to fulfill a key depth role for the Bills in 2026 if he can prove himself throughout the preseason. The 30-year-old's first opportunity to show his stuff will be Saturday's showdown against the Browns. The Bills waived defensive lineman Tommy Akingbesote in a corresponding move.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Busy in preseason opener
Bass went 3-for-4 on field-goal tries and made both his extra-point attempts in Buffalo's preseason win over the Panthers on Saturday.
Bass is back at full health after recovering from a pelvic injury that cost him the entire 2025 season. The Bills don't even have another kicker on the roster, so Bass will be the beneficiary of what should be a productive offense led by superstar Josh Allen, a new offensive-minded head coach in Joe Brady, and a new home stadium that could help minimize the impact of the wind, even if it lacks a roof.

Bills' Keon Coleman: Suffers sprained foot/toe in preseason
Coleman has been diagnosed with a sprained right foot/toe, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Coleman was a spectator at the start of Tuesday's practice, wearing a low walking boot on his right foot. The issue likely stems from Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers, when he limped off the field during the Bills' third possession. At the moment, a number of Buffalo wide receivers are tending to injuries, including DJ Moore (lower body), Coleman, rookie fourth-round pick Skyler Bell (lower body) and Tyrell Shavers (knee, active/PUP). Coleman's own health concern may impact his status for Saturday's exhibition at Cleveland.
