Texans' Ronald Darby: Finds work in Houston
Darby signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Texans on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 10-year NFL veteran was released by the Jaguars in early March after signing a two-year, $8.5 million deal with the team last offseason. However, Darby has quickly found a new home in Houston. He appeared in 13 games for Jacksonville in 2024, logging 46 total tackles and nine passes defended over 615 defensive snaps. Now with the Texans, Darby is expected to provide veteran leadership and depth in the secondary.

Texans' Jakob Johnson: Headed to Houston
Johnson signed a one-year deal with the Texans on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 30-year-old fullback from Tennessee is joining the Texans after spending his 2024 campaign with the Jets and Giants. Johnson appeared in just three games last season (all for the Giants), recording no offensive stats across 12 snaps. However, he contributed on special teams, playing 39 snaps and tallying one tackle. Now in Houston, Johnson is likely to compete for another special-teams role during the summer.

Texans' Derek Stingley: Becomes highest-paid DB
Stingley and the Texans reached agreement Monday on a three-year, $90 million extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Initial reports say $89 million is guaranteed, making Stingley the highest-paid defensive back in terms of both average annual value and guarantees. It isn't even close, in fact, with Stingley easily topping the deal recently signed by Carolina's Jaycee Horn ($25 million AAV, $46.7 million guaranteed, per OverTheCap). Selected third overall in the 2022 Draft, Stingley played just 10 games over his final two years at LSU and then missed 14 games during his first two professional seasons, before finally staying healthy for a full campaign in 2024 (17 regular-season games, two playoff appearances). He has 36 pass defenses and 11 interceptions in 37 career regular-season games, and he added five more PDs and two INTs in Houston's two playoff contests this January, shortly after being named as a First-Team All Pro.

Texans' Jalyn Holmes: Headed to Houston
Holmes and the Texans have agreed on a one-year contract, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Holmes was able to compile 14 total tackles (10 solo), including a career-high 2.0 sacks, over 11 regular-season games in 2024 with the Commanders. The defensive tackle will now likely operate as a depth option behind Sheldon Rankins and Tommy Togiai with Houston in 2025.
