  • Rockies' Brett Sullivan: Goes deep in win

Sullivan went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Sunday's 13-7 win over the Giants.

Sullivan has found a groove at the plate lately, going 10-for-29 with three homers and 11 RBI over his last 10 contests. He's seen a short-term bump in playing time while Hunter Goodman (shoulder) battles an injury. Sullivan is batting .241 with a .733 OPS, seven homers, 26 RBI, 21 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 175 plate appearances this season.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Pops homer in loss

Amaya went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 11-4 loss to the Cardinals.

Amaya has homered twice over his last four games, going 4-for-14 in that span. The catcher has started three of the Cubs' last four contests as he starts to take a chunk out of Carson Kelly's playing time versus right-handed pitchers. On the year, Amaya is batting .241 with a .726 OPS, five homers, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored and nine doubles over 203 plate appearances.

  • Astros' Christian Vazquez: Poaching playing time from Diaz

Vazquez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Though he'll hit the bench for the series finale, Vazquez may have temporarily pushed his way into a timeshare at catcher with the slumping Yainer Diaz. Since closing July with a pair of four-hit games, Diaz has produced a lowly .179/.233/.179 slash line through 12 contests in August. Vazquez drew starts over Diaz in each of the previous three games, going 2-for-6 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored.

  • Dodgers' Hunter Feduccia: Bound for bench Sunday

Feduccia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Feduccia will head to the bench for the series finale after he started behind the plate in both of the previous two contests. Ben Rortvedt will check in at catcher Sunday and form a battery with starting pitcher Tarik Skubal.

  • Angels' Tyler Heineman: Resting up Sunday

Heineman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Heineman had started behind the dish in the first two contests of the series but will hit the bench in the rubber match. Travis d'Arnaud will handle catching duties for the Angels on Sunday.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Earning more opportunities vs. RHPs

Amaya will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Amaya will crack the lineup for the third time in four games, with each of those starts coming against right-handed pitching. He's produced a .720 OPS and 105 wRC+ in 138 plate appearances versus righties this season, putting him well ahead of what fellow backstop Carson Kelly (.594 OPS, 72 wRC+ in 211 plate appearances) has done in that split.

  • Tigers' Eduardo Valencia: Sitting after three straight starts

Valencia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Valencia started the last three games, all against left-handed pitchers, and went 5-for-11 with two home runs, a double and four RBI, but he'll head to the bench against White Sox righty Sean Burke. The Tigers haven't yet cleared the way for Valencia to receive a full run of at-bats against right-handed pitching, but with a 1.291 OPS through his first 54 plate appearances in the majors, it wouldn't be a surprise if he soon gets a look in a near-everyday role between catcher and DH.

  • Guardians' Patrick Bailey: Getting rest Sunday

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Bailey will rest up after he started behind the dish the previous two days. Austin Hedges will handle catching duties in the series finale.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Taking seat Sunday

Kelly is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Kelly will hit the bench for a second consecutive game and for the third time in the last four contests. He appears to be moving into more of a timeshare at catcher with Miguel Amaya, who will receive another turn behind the plate Sunday.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Missing third consecutive game

Goodman (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

After being scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 7-1 loss due to left shoulder inflammation, Goodman will wind up missing a third straight start on account of the injury. The Rockies will go with Brett Sullivan behind the plate Sunday in place of Goodman, who is being viewed as day-to-day heading into the team's three-game series with the Dodgers that begins Monday.
