Brewers' Trevor Megill: Puts out fire for save Thursday
Megill picked up the save in Thursday's 8-5 win over the Pirates after throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out one.
It was a spotless inning of work for Megill but not for the Brewers, who saw Carlos Rodriguez give up two earned runs in the frame. Megill allowed one of those runs to come across via a groundout, but it was still his 10th consecutive outing without yielding an earned run. The hard-throwing right-hander has strengthened his hold on Milwaukee's closing job after a rocky beginning in 2025, having converted each of his last six save chances while posting a 0.93 ERA and 9:4 K:BB across his last 9.2 innings.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Posts 11th career multi-homer game
Yelich went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI, three runs scored and a walk in Thursday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.
Thursday marked the 11th career multi-homer game for Yelich, who matched a season high in RBI. The veteran outfielder has struggled mightily at the plate overall this season, and he's batting just .116 with four big flies, seven RBI and 10 runs scored over his last 81 at-bats. Yelich has made just six appearances in the outfield this year, which should help keep the slugger healthy, and his strong 47.6 percent hard-hit rate on the campaign in addition to Thursday's performance present causes for optimism going forward.

Brewers' Aaron Civale: Inefficient in return
Civale didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Pirates after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out three.
It was an up-and-down performance by Civale, who made his first start since March after recovering from a strained left hamstring. The 29-year-old right-hander has now given up four home runs over just seven innings this season, and he also hit a batter Thursday while throwing just 42 of his 73 pitches for strikes. Civale was operating under a pitch count in his return, and he'll be aiming to sharpen his control and get stretched out further in his next scheduled outing against the Red Sox.

Brewers' Joel Payamps: Booted from 40-man
The Brewers designated Payamps for assignment Thursday.
After turning in a 2.78 ERA and 1.01 WHIP across his first two seasons with the Brewers, Payamps hasn't been anywhere near as effective in 2025, giving up 17 earned runs in only 18.1 innings. His poor performance will ultimately cost him his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters, though his previous success could make him a waiver target for other teams in need of bullpen help.

Brewers' Easton McGee: Sent back down
The Brewers optioned McGee to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
McGee made just one appearance after being called up May 18. He allowed no baserunners and struck out a batter across a full inning of relief. The 27-year-old is set to return to Nashville with Carlos Rodriguez getting recalled from Triple-A.

Brewers' Carlos Rodriguez: Will follow Civale on Thursday
Rodriguez is expected to enter Thursday's game in Pittsburgh in relief after starting pitcher Aaron Civale (hamstring), Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Previous reports had pegged Rodriguez as likely to make a start this week, but the Brewers have decided to go ahead and activate Civale from the injured list and have Rodriguez come out of the bullpen. Rodriguez is stretched out to provide length, if needed, but Civale is in line to throw 75-to-85 pitches Thursday, so Rodriguez might not be needed for more than an inning or two.

Brewers' Aaron Civale: Returning from IL to start Thursday
Civale (hamstring) will start Thursday's game in Pittsburgh, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Civale is slated to throw 75-to-85 pitches in what will be his first start for Milwaukee since he went down with a strained left hamstring in late March. The veteran hurler made two rehab starts with Triple-A Nashville, tossing nine scoreless innings with a 5:2 K:BB. Carlos Rodriguez is expected to follow Civale on Thursday.

Brewers' Jose Quintana: Throwing 45-pitch bullpen session
Quintana (shoulder) will throw roughly 45 pitches in a bullpen session Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The bullpen session will include two "up-downs" to simulate rest in between innings. The Brewers will make a determination on the next steps for Quintana based on how the hurler feels during the session and how he recovers. Quintana has been sidelined since mid-May with a left shoulder impingement.

Brewers' Aaron Civale: Scratched from rehab start
Civale (hamstring) didn't make his rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday as originally scheduled, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The Brewers haven't officially named a starter for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh, so the decision to scratch Civale from his minor-league start could indicate that the 29-year-old righty will be activated early to pitch against the Pirates. If he ends up starting Thursday, Civale would presumably operate under a workload restriction, as he built up to just 60 pitches during his last rehab outing.

Brewers' Luis Pena: Out with concussion
Single-A Carolina placed Pena on its 7-day injured list Wednesday due to a concussion, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The 18-year-old skipped complex ball and joined Single-A Carolina for his first taste of minor-league action this year, and he's raked in his first 25 games with three homers, 21 steals and a .327/.400/.505 slash line. Pena will be out for at least the next week due to the concussion, but once healthy, it may not be long before he's moved up to High-A Wisconsin given his strong performance.

Brewers' Chad Patrick: Fans seven in no-decision
Patrick didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-4 extra-innings loss to the Orioles, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.
The seven strikeouts tied the right-hander's season high, but Patrick had trouble putting batters away and got lifted after 89 pitches, with a whopping 27 of his 60 strikes coming on foul balls. He's failed to last five innings in three of his last six starts, a stretch in which he's posted a 3.98 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB over 31.2 innings, and that inability to provide the Brewers with consistent length could cost him his rotation spot when the staff gets healthier. Patrick is scheduled to make his next trip to the mound at home early next week against the Red Sox.

Brewers' Tyler Black: Rehabbing in Arizona
Black (hand) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last Thursday and has slashed .455/.571/.818 over 14 plate appearances through his first four games.
Black remains on Triple-A Nashville's injured list after he sustained a fractured hamate bone in his right hand late in spring training, but he looks to be close to making his season debut with Milwaukee's top affiliate. The 24-year-old appeared in 18 games with the big club in 2024 and retains a spot on the Brewers' 40-man roster, but once activated, he'll likely need to turn in a solid run of production at the plate with Nashville before he garners consideration for a call-up.

Brewers' Isaac Collins: Sitting after three straight starts
Collins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Collins will hit the bench after he went 2-for-10 with a walk, a run and two RBI while starting in left field in each of the last three games, including against a pair of right-handers. The switch-hitting Collins should remain the Brewers' preferred option in left field against lefties for the time being, but he might have to settle for a timeshare at the position with the lefty-hitting Jake Bauers when Milwaukee faces right-handed pitching. Bauers will get the nod Wednesday as the Orioles send righty Tomoyuki Sugano to the bump.

Brewers' William Contreras: Getting breather Wednesday
Contreras is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Orioles.
Contreras will get a rare day off after starting in each of the last 11 games, with all but one coming at catcher. Eric Haase will fill in behind the dish and bat sixth as the Brewers try to complete the sweep.

Brewers' Jose Quintana: Gets back on mound
Quintana (shoulder) was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday and will do so again Friday before the Brewers determine his next steps, MLB.com reports.
Quintana landed on the 15-day injured list May 14 due to a left shoulder impingement, and at the time, the Brewers were hopeful that he would be able to return when first eligible May 26. The veteran southpaw is no longer on track to be activated that day, but a return later on next week hasn't been ruled out. Quintana was recently sent in for a second opinion on his injury, but after the original diagnosis was confirmed, he received the green light to get back on the mound this week. Assuming Quintana's side session Tuesday went well, he'll throw what will presumably be a more intense bullpen session Friday. After that, the Brewers will assess whether he's ready to rejoin the big-league rotation, or if he'll need to complete a simulated game or go out on a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand.

Brewers' Logan Henderson: Three-start win streak
Henderson (3-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Orioles after allowing two hits and two walks in five scoreless innings. He struck out seven.
Henderson scattered two singles while tossing at least five innings and allowing two runs or fewer in his third consecutive start to begin his major-league career. The rookie right-hander registered an impressive 20 whiffs Tuesday, and he's now punched out at least seven in each of his first three outings. Henderson boasts a 1.69 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB over 16 frames, giving him plenty of fantasy appeal in his next scheduled start against a Pirates team that has a miserable .561 OPS through 18 games in May.
