Marlins' Max Meyer: Will not start Sunday's game
Meyer will not start Sunday's game against the Guardians as the Marlins give him extra rest around the All-Star break, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Sunday is Meyer's turn, but the Marlins will go with a bullpen game that day. Meyer is healthy, but he's already logged 108 innings and the club wants to be careful with his workload. The righty was elected to the All-Star team but will not pitch in the Midsummer Classic, either. Meyer finishes the first half with a 9-1 record, 2.58 ERA and 116:38 K:BB.

Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Resting up Thursday
Sanoja isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.
Sanoja has hit safely in each of Miami's last four games, but the team will keep him on the bench to begin Thursday's series finale while Leo Jimenez starts at the hot corner, batting ninth.

Marlins' Joe Mack: Idle Thursday
Mack isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Seattle.
Mack will catch a breather Thursday after going 0-for-6 with a walk during the first two games of the series. Liam Hicks will fill in as Miami's catcher, allowing Heriberto Hernandez to serve as the designated hitter.

Marlins' John King: Sent to IL with sprained ankle
The Marlins placed King on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left lateral ankle sprain.
It's unclear when or how King was hurt, but the injury will cost him at least the next two weeks of action. The lefty reliever has provided quality work out of the Marlins' bullpen, posting a 2.48 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB over 40 innings.

Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Returns to majors
The Marlins recalled Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Gusto has turned in a 5.55 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 24.1 innings with the Marlins this season, but he'll return to Miami on Thursday to provide the big club with an additional long-relief option for its final stretch of games before the All-Star break. Zach Brzykcy was optioned to Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Marlins' Rece Hinds: Officially summoned from minors
The Marlins recalled Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Hinds is a career .172/.221/.426 hitter with a 42 percent strikeout rate over parts of three major-league seasons, but he has loads of power when he does connect. He would be worth a deep-league flier if he plays regularly while Owen Caissie (calf) is out, but there's no guarantee of at-bats for Hinds.

Marlins' Owen Caissie: Lands on IL with strained calf
The Marlins placed Caissie on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right calf strain.
Caissie suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest against the Mariners. It's unclear what the severity of the strain is, but even a mild calf strain could result in longer than a minimum absence for Caissie. Rece Hinds is grabbing Caissie's roster spot, and he will be in the mix for starts in the outfield along with Heriberto Hernandez and Esteury Ruiz while Caissie is out.

Marlins' Zach Brzykcy: Back in minors
The Marlins optioned Brzykcy to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Brzykcy made just one appearance after being called up from Triple-A on June 30, giving up one earned run on one hit and two walks while fanning two batters across two innings. He'll now head back to Jacksonville to help make room on the active roster for Janson Junk (shin), who returned from the injured list Thursday, and Ryan Gusto, who was recalled from Triple-A.

Marlins' Janson Junk: Back from IL to start Thursday
The Marlins activated Junk (shin) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Junk will rejoin the Marlins' rotation with a start Thursday against the Mariners after being sidelined since late May with right shin bone inflammation. The right-hander made two rehab starts and threw 61 pitches in his last outing, so he's unlikely to shoulder a full workload versus Seattle.

Marlins' Rece Hinds: Coming up from Triple-A
The Marlins will recall Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of Thursday's contest versus the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Hinds is expected to take the roster spot of the injured Owen Caissie (calf). Acquired from the Reds via trade in May, the toolsy Hinds is a career .172/.221/.426 hitter with a 42 percent strikeout rate over parts of three major-league seasons. The 25-year-old could see some playing time in Miami's outfield while Caissie is out, but Heriberto Hernandez and/or Esteury Ruiz are also in the mix.

Marlins' Owen Caissie: Likely headed to injured list
The Marlins are likely to place Caissie (calf) on the 10-day injured list prior to Thursday's game against the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Caissie had to be lifted from Wednesday's contest with right calf tightness. He could be dealing with a strain, but the Marlins will have more specifics on Caissie's status later Thursday. Heriberto Hernandez and Esteury Ruiz will likely see an uptick in playing time while Caissie is shelved, and Rece Hinds is expected to take Caissie's spot on the active roster.

Marlins' Tyler Phillips: Rebounds in second win
Phillips (2-3) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing four hits and two walks across five scoreless innings. He struck out three.
It was a strong bounce-back effort from Phillips, who gave up five runs in just 3.1 innings in his last start against the A's. Prior to that outing, Phillips had turned in back-to-back quality starts, allowing just four runs across 13.1 innings in that span. Overall, the 28-year-old right-hander sports a 3.28 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP and 55:34 K:BB across 74 innings this season.

Marlins' Pete Fairbanks: Picks up 13th save
Fairbanks earned the save in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Mariners, allowing a hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
After giving up a one-out single to Josh Naylor, Fairbanks rebounded to strike out the final two batters in the ninth to log his 13th save in 15 chances this season. The 32-year-old Fairbanks has now turned in back-to-back scoreless appearances after giving up seven runs (six earned) over his previous four innings. Overall, Fairbanks sports a 6.75 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB through 28 innings this season.

Marlins' Owen Caissie: Pulled early Wednesday
Caissie was removed from Wednesday's game against Seattle due to right calf tightness, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Caissie was taken out of the game in the second inning before recording an at-bat. The severity of his injury remains unknown, though the team could provide some clarity in the near future. In the meantime, Griffin Conine will take over as Miami's right fielder.

Marlins' Griffin Conine: Idle Wednesday
Conine isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Conine will get a breather Wednesday after going 1-for-16 with nine strikeouts to begin the month of July. His absence will allow Heriberto Hernandez to bat sixth while picking up a start in left field.

Marlins' Janson Junk: Rejoining rotation Thursday
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough confirmed Wednesday that Junk (shin) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's game versus the Mariners, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Junk has been sidelined since late May with right shin bone inflammation, but he convinced the Marlins he was ready to go by yielding two runs with a 6:0 K:BB over 5.2 innings in two rehab starts with Triple-A Jacksonville. The right-hander threw 61 pitches in his last rehab outing, so Junk will be fairly limited from a workload perspective against Seattle.
