Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Not ready to return Wednesday
Heiskanen (knee) will miss Game 3 versus Colorado on Wednesday, per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now.
Heiskanen had five goals and 25 points across 50 regular-season appearances with Dallas in 2024-25. He hasn't played since Jan. 28, but he is getting close to returning, so perhaps Heiskanen will be an option for Game 4 on Saturday. When the 25-year-old is ready to return, he should serve in a top-four capacity and on the first power-play unit.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Traveling with team
Heiskanen (knee) will travel with the Stars for Games 3 and 4 in Colorado, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports Tuesday.
Heiskanen has been on the shelf since Jan. 28 versus the Golden Knights, a stretch of 34 games on the sidelines. Prior to getting hurt, the blueliner was struggling to find the back of the net, going 10 games without putting one over the goal line. Still, he did manage to pick up a helper in each of his last five appearances. If cleared to return for Game 3 on Wednesday, the Finn would likely reclaim his spot on the first power-play unit, making him a top-end fantasy target.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Ruled out for Game 1 of playoffs
Heiskanen (knee) has been ruled out for Game 1 of the Stars' first-round series against the Avalanche but could return later in the series, Sean Shapiro of DLLS Sports reports.
Initial reports suggested that Heiskanen would be unavailable for the entire first round of the playoffs, but he's only been ruled out for the first game of the opening series, and the Stars will likely evaluate him on a game-by-game basis after that. The 25-year-old has been sidelined since late January due to his knee injury. Over 50 appearances with Dallas this year, he's recorded five goals, 20 assists, 85 blocked shots and 17 hits while averaging 25:10 of ice time.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Facing extended absence
Heiskanen underwent successful knee surgery in New York on Tuesday and is being labeled month-to-month, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports.
Heiskanen's injury is a brutal loss for a Dallas club that is jockeying for playoff positioning in the Central division. Heiskanen was injured Jan. 28 against the Golden Knights after a collision with Mark Stone and placed on injured reserve Friday. Given his timeline, it's unclear whether Heiskanen will be back in time before the conclusion of the regular season. While he's unavailable, Brendan Smith should receive more opportunities, and Thomas Harley will quarterback the No. 1 power-play unit.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Designated for IR
Heiskanen (knee) has been placed on injured reserve, per the NHL media site Friday.
Heiskanen's placement on IR shouldn't come as a surprise considering he was labeled week-to-week and was ruled out for the 4 Nations Face-Off. The 25-year-old blueliner is still awaiting the results of an MRI to determine exactly how long he will be on the shelf. In the meantime, Thomas Harley is expected to take Heiskanen's spot on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Might need surgery
Heiskanen (knee) is out indefinitely and might need knee surgery, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports Thursday.
Heiskanen will meet with doctors Friday to have his MRI examined. It's not clear if he'll miss weeks or months, but the Stars believe he will at least return before the end of the 2024-25 campaign. He has five goals, 25 points, 17 hits and 85 blocks in 50 appearances in 2024-25. Kyle Capobianco might play regularly during Heiskanen's absence.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Out of 4 Nations Face-Off
Heiskanen (lower body) will be out of action through the 4 Nations Face-Off, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.
Heiskanen will not represent Finland during the tournament after he took a big hit Wednesday courtesy of the Golden Knights' Mark Stone. The Stars' top defenseman has a five-game point streak, giving him five goals and 25 points in 50 outings. Look for Thomas Harley to take over quarterbacking the top power play.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Deemed week-to-week
Heiskanen (lower body) underwent an MRI on Wednesday and is considered week-to-week, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports Thursday.
Heiskanen's status will be further determined once the Stars get the full results of Wednesday's MRI. The 25-year-old blueliner hasn't been ruled out for the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it certainly seems to be heading in that direction. Dallas recalled Kyle Capobianco from the minors, but it will likely be Ilya Lyubushkin who steps into a more prominent role with Heiskanen unavailable.

Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Leaves game after collision
Heiskanen (lower body) left Tuesday's game versus the Golden Knights after a collision with Mark Stone in the third period. There was no update on Heiskanen's status after the contest, Brien Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
Stone appeared to lose his footing when diving in for a poke-check, colliding with Heiskanen's left leg, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic. Heiskanen had trouble getting off the ice, so there's a realistic chance that this injury will cost him games. The Stars may go back to a regular six-defensemen lineup if Heiskanen is out, or they could keep Brendan Smith in the lineup at forward while having Nils Lundkvist pick up bottom-four minutes and power-play time.

He's added 104 shots on net, 79 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating and continues to see plenty of ice time in a top-pairing role.
