Sabres' JJ Peterka: Goal in third straight game
Peterka scored a goal and recorded two hits in Sunday's 5-3 win over Winnipeg.
Peterka has found the back of the net in each of the Sabres' last three contests, tallying eight shots in that span, though in the last two games he's needed just one shot to score. Peterka is aiming to end the season on a strong note, but it's worth mentioning he's been playing at a high level for the last few weeks. Since the beginning of February and over a 15-game stretch, the 23-year-old has recorded 14 points (eight goals, six assists), 37 shots, 10 hits, three blocked shots and a minus-5 rating.

Sabres' JJ Peterka: Strikes on power play in return
Peterka scored a power-play goal on six shots and went minus-3 in Thursday's 5-2 loss to Utah.
Peterka missed three games due to a lower-body injury. He made an early impact in his return, scoring his 20th goal of the campaign late in the first period to tie the score at 1-1. The 23-year-old winger immediately slotted back onto the top line, though the Sabres are running thin at forward with all of Josh Norris (undisclosed), Jiri Kulich (concussion) and Zach Benson (illness) missing Thursday's game. Peterka now has 20 goals, 52 points, 142 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 62 appearances. It's a career year in points for Peterka, but he's down from last year's 28-goal total, in large part due to a drastically reduced shot volume, which has dropped by nearly half a shot per game.

Sabres' JJ Peterka: Dealing with lingering injury
Peterka is being evaluated for a lower-body injury and his status for Wednesday's game in Detroit has yet to be determined, according to Heather Engel of NHL.com.
Peterka was unable to practice Tuesday, and according to Engel, his lower-body injury has been a lingering issue. With that in mind, the Sabres may opt to rest Peterka on Wednesday -- the club will have two days off after facing the Red Wings before Saturday's home matchup against Vegas. If the 23-year-old winger is forced to miss any time, Zach Benson could slide into a top-six role.

Sabres' JJ Peterka: Two helpers in OT loss
Peterka picked up two assists in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canadiens.
Both helpers came in the third period as the Sabres completed a rally from an early 3-0 deficit, but they couldn't finish the job in OT. Peterka extended his point streak to five games in the process, and over his last 13 contests, he's piled up an impressive seven goals and 15 points. The 23-year-old winger is just three points away from tying the career-high 50 he amassed in 2023-24.

Peterka scored a hat trick and had an assist in a 7-2 win against the Bruins on Tuesday. It was his first NHL hat trick.

His second made it 5-2 at the midpoint of the third period when he split the D and pushed through, scoring blocker side from in front. Peterka's third went into the empty net. He has seven points, including four goals, in his last four games, and his 39 points (48 games) puts him second on the Sabres scoring list, behind Tage Thompson, who has 44 points in 45 appearances. Sabres' JJ Peterka: Fourteen points in last 13 games
Peterka had two assists in a 6-2 loss to Seattle on Saturday.
Peterka has 14 points, including 12 assists, and 27 shots in his last 13 games. He has 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) and 86 shots in 41 games this season, and his 11.6 shooting percentage is right around his career mark of 11.4. While he's on pace for a new career high in points, Peterka needs to increase his shot volume dramatically to come close to the 226 he put up last season when he scored 28 times. He's a sniper, so the goals will go up when the shots go up.

Peterka notched a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights.
The winger has a helper in consecutive contests and four assists over six games since his last goal. Peterka's ice time was back up to 16:47 in Saturday's outing, his highest total in five games. He remains on the third line for now, but with the Sabres having lost three straight, any potential lineup shuffle would likely benefit the 22-year-old. Peterka has a total of 28 points (eight on the power play), 77 shots on net and a minus-7 rating through 38 appearances.

Sabres' JJ Peterka: Contributes assist in overtime loss
Peterka notched an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Avalanche.
Peterka's 11:53 of ice time Thursday was his lowest total this season in a game where he wasn't injured. While he's earned 10 points over his last 11 outings, he's been shuffled down to a third-line role, which limits his upside in the near future. The 22-year-old has 10 goals, 27 points, 75 shots on net and a minus-6 rating through 37 outings overall, so he remains on track to surpass his 50-point output from last year.
