Stars' Mikko Rantanen: Struggles against Oilers
Rantanen delivered an assist in a 6-3 Game 5 loss to Edmonton on Thursday.
Rantanen was all but invisible against the Oilers. After putting up 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 13 games in the first two rounds, Rantanen tallied just three assists, two of which were secondary, and 11 shots in five contests in the Western Conference Finals. In fact, 17 of his 22 playoff points came in just five games. When he's hot, he's an inferno. However, the Stars needed more against the Oilers. Rantanen has plenty of time to show Dallas brass and fans that he can deliver excellence with consistency. He's inked to the end of the 2032-33 season on an eight-year, $96 million extension that kicks in this fall.

Stars' Mikko Rantanen: Offers assist in loss
Rantanen posted an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 3.
Rantanen's goal drought reached six games after this loss, and he has just three assists with 13 shots on net in that span. The winger is up to 21 points (nine goals, 12 helpers) in 16 playoff contests, but he hasn't been able to keep pace in the postseason scoring race, as Connor McDavid (22 points) has passed Rantanen while Leon Draisaitl (21 points) is tied for second place. Rantanen has added 45 shots on net, 13 hits, 20 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating.

Stars' Mikko Rantanen: Generates power-play helper
Rantanen notched a power-play assist and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Oilers in Game 1.
Rantanen was held off the scoresheet in the last two games of the second round versus the Jets. He's had few quiet moments this postseason, playing a huge role with five multi-point efforts, including a pair of hat tricks. He's at 20 points (seven on the power play), 42 shots on net, 17 blocked shots, 11 hits and a plus-2 rating over 14 playoff contests. Rantanen continues to lead the postseason in points, one ahead of Edmonton's duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and it's a battle between those superstars that could define this series.

The 28-year-old winger is up to nine goals, 10 assists, 32 shots on net, 13 blocked shots, 10 hits and a plus-3 rating across 11 playoff outings. Rantanen will look to add to his totals in Game 5 on Thursday as the Stars try to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
