Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Opens homer account for 2025
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Atlanta.
The first baseman struck out against Spencer Strider in the first inning, but Guerrero was perfect the rest of the day and got his revenge on the right-hander with a no-doubt solo shot in the sixth inning that traveled 412 feet to left field. It was Guerrero's first homer of 2025, but he's been productive with a .292/.373/.389 slash line, seven runs and 10 RBI in 19 games.

Blue Jays' Jeff Hoffman: Secures fourth save
Hoffman gave up one run on one hit while striking out one in the ninth inning Wednesday to record his fourth save of the season in a 3-1 win over Atlanta.
The Toronto closer served up a solo shot to Drake Baldwin to ruin a combined shutout bid, but otherwise Hoffman was in control once again. The right-hander is 4-for-4 in save chances to begin his first season as the unquestioned top option in a big-league bullpen, posting a 1.74 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 14:1 K:BB through 10.1 innings.

Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Fans 10 in second win
Bassitt (2-0) collected the win in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over Atlanta, scattering three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out 10.
While Drake Baldwin eventually ruined the combined shutout bid with a solo shot in the ninth inning off Jeff Hoffman, the Blue Jays bullpen picked up where Bassitt left off en route to a franchise-record 19 strikeouts in a nine-inning game. The Ks kept Bassitt from lasting long enough to record a quality start -- he left after 90 pitches (59 strikes), including 33 called or swinging strikes -- but the veteran right-hander has been brilliant to begin the season, allowing just two runs over his first four starts. Bassitt will take a 0.77 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 31:5 K:BB through 23.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Houston.

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Resumes throwing, checkup on tap
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Scherzer (thumb) is scheduled to meet with a doctor Wednesday after throwing on consecutive days, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Scherzer experienced renewed soreness in his thumb after throwing late last week, but after a brief shutdown, the right-hander was able to start playing catch again. He'll get a checkup Wednesday from a different hand specialist than the one he had been meeting with previously with the hope that he's cleared to ramp up the intensity and volume of his throwing. Easton Lucas should continue to hold down a spot in the rotation until Scherzer is able to return from the injured list, perhaps in late April or early May if he incurs no further setbacks in the recovery process.

Blue Jays' Myles Straw: Making fourth straight start
Straw will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Straw will pick up his fourth straight start while the Blue Jays remain short on alternatives in center field with Daulton Varsho (shoulder) on the injured list, Nathan Lukes (personal) on the paternity list and George Springer day-to-day with a wrist injury. To his credit, Straw has capitalized on the opportunities he's received this season, slashing .379/.419/.552 with one home run and one stolen base in 32 plate appearances. Straw's strong play might be enough for him to stick around on the big-league roster as a depth outfielder ahead of Lukes -- who has a minor-league option remaining -- once Varsho is cleared to make his 2025 debut with Toronto.

Blue Jays' Will Wagner: Sitting against righty again
Wagner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
The lefty-hitting Wagner is off to a 3-for-28 start to the plate in April, and the ongoing slump has started to cost him some playing time. He'll be on the bench for the second time in the Blue Jays' last three matchups versus right-handers, with Ernie Clement getting the nod at third base as Atlanta sends Spencer Strider to the mound.

Blue Jays' George Springer: Another game off due to injury
Springer (wrist) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Springer will end up going without a start in all three games of the Blue Jays' series versus Atlanta while he tends to a swollen left wrist. He could be available off the bench Wednesday, though with an off day on tap Thursday, the Blue Jays could prefer to stay away from him. If Springer's wrist is still bothering him heading into the weekend series with the Mariners, a stint on the injured list could be necessary.

Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Earns strong win over Atlanta
Gausman (2-1) allowed two runs on six hits while striking out six in six innings in a win over Atlanta on Tuesday. He did not issue a walk.
Gausman found himself trailing early after Austin Riley took him deep in the opening frame. Gausman cruised from there, however, allowing four base hits over the next four innings with just one runner reaching scoring position. Matt Olson was able to get a hold of one in the sixth, but the Blue Jays were still leading comfortably. Gausman has posted consecutive starts of six-plus innings and no walks. He's been ace material thus far, posting a 2.49 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB in 25.1 innings. He's set to take the mound again next week versus the Astros on the road.

Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Supplies three-run homer in win
Santander went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's win over Atlanta.
Santander broke the game open with a three-run blast off Spencer Schwellenbach in the fifth inning to put Toronto up 6-1. It was Santander's second long ball of the season and his first at home as a member of the Blue Jays. Though his average currently sits at just .211, Santander now has a hit in six straight games, including homers in two of his last four, and has struck out once over his last 17 at-bats.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Swats first career homer
Roden went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over Atlanta.
Roden got out to a fast start offensively off one of the better pitchers in the league in Spencer Schwellenbach. Roden began his day with a double before pushing the Blue Jays ahead for good with a two-run blast in the fifth. Roden doubled his season RBI total on one swing and has held his own thus far with just a 15.1 percent strikeout rate. The 26-year-old is slashing .277/.340/.404 with a 3:8 BB:K in 53 plate appearances.

Blue Jays' George Springer: Remains sidelined Tuesday
Springer (wrist) remains out of the Blues Jays' lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Springer tweaked his wrist Sunday against the Orioles and will sit for the second straight game, as Myles Straw gets the nod in center with Addison Barger manning right field. Springer continues to be listed as day-to-day. His next chance to start will be Wednesday against Spencer Strider and Atlanta.

Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Placed on paternity list
The Blue Jays placed Lukes on the paternity list Tuesday.
Lukes figures to miss at least a couple of days while he awaits the birth of his child. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays recalled Addison Barger from Triple-A Buffalo. The lefty-hitting Lukes is slashing .167/.310/.208 with one extra-base hit, three RBI, six runs and a 4:4 BB:K across 29 plate appearances this season.

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Recalled from Triple-A
The Blue Jays recalled Barger from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
With Nathan Lukes placed on the paternity list, Barger gets the call to the big leagues after opening the season in the minors, where he slashed .211/.311/.421 with two home runs, seven RBI and six runs scored across 45 plate appearances. Barger will provide depth at third base and in the corner outfield spots for Toronto.

Blue Jays' Myles Straw: Surprising power display Monday
Straw went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's loss to Atlanta.
Getting a start in center field and batting seventh, Straw got hold of a sixth-inning fastball from Grant Holmes and drove it over the fence in center field. It was Straw's first homer in the majors since 2023, and only the seventh of his career. The 30-year-old speedster has taken advantage of his opportunity in Toronto, batting .385 (10-for-26) with a steal, three RBI and five runs in 12 games, but it's not clear if there will be a spot for him on the 26-man roster once Daulton Varsho (shoulder) is ready to come off the IL.

Blue Jays' Easton Lucas: Tagged with eight runs
Lucas (2-1) yielded eight runs on six hits and four walks over five innings Monday, striking out three and taking a loss against Atlanta.
Lucas was taken deep three times Monday, starting with Sean Murphy's two-run shot in the first inning before Austin Riley went deep twice. Lucas threw 10.1 scoreless frames in his first two starts before this brutal performance. His ERA jumped to 4.70 with a 14:7 K:BB through 15.1 frames. Lucas is currently lined up to face the Mariners at home this weekend.
