  • Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Three hits in Tuesday's win

Kiermaier went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox.

Getting the start in center field and batting ninth, Kiermaier produced his first multi-hit performance since May 8. The veteran defensive whiz came into the game slashing a woeful .111/.135/.194 over 38 plate appearances in June with a 46.2 percent strikeout rate, and only a recent back issue for Daulton Varsho has given Kiermaier consistent starts again. He remains a long way from fantasy utility, even in deep formats.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Drives in four at Fenway

Guerrero went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Red Sox.

He did get charged with two errors, but Guerrero made up for his fielding gaffes with two-run doubles in the third and fourth innings. The first baseman is red hot, slashing .349/.364/.628 over the last 10 games with three doubles, three homers and 10 RBI.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Mashes sixth homer

Springer went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Red Sox.

The 34-year-old outfielder capped a seven-run eruption for the Blue Jays in the third inning when he drove a Brayan Bello slider into the right-center field bullpen at Fenway Park. Springer is having the worst season of his career by a wide margin -- Tuesday's long ball snapped a 17-game homer drought, and it highlighted his first multi-hit performance since June 3. Through 300 plate appearances in 2024, Springer has managed a .196/.283/.298 slash line with six homers, eight steals, 17 RBI and 32 runs.

  • Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Notches sixth win

Gausman (6-6) picked up the win Tuesday in a 9-4 victory over the Red Sox, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.

A Vladimir Guerrero error let Gausman squeak out his seventh quality start of the season, but the rest of the damage off the right-hander came on a Rafael Devers solo shot in the second inning and a two-run blast over the Green Monster by Tyler O'Neill in the sixth. Gausman has been taken deep eight times in his last five outings, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 4.45 ERA despite a 1.11 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 32.1 innings. He could have trouble keeping the ball in the park once again in his next start, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Yankees.

  • Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Idle Tuesday

Schneider is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Schneider is 4-for-26 across his last seven games (.153) and will get a breather Tuesday. Instead, Addison Barger will fill left field and bat sixth.

  • Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: On bench again

Varsho (back) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Varsho will be out of the starting nine for the third straight game after tweaking his back Saturday. Kevin Kiermaier will make another start in center field and bat ninth Tuesday.

  • Blue Jays' Steward Berroa: Sent back to minors

The Blue Jays optioned Berroa to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Berroa was with the major-league club for two days and saw some action as a defensive replacement and pinch runner, but he did not receive a plate appearance. He's clearing out to make room for Bo Bichette's return from the injured list.

  • Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Back from IL, as expected

The Blue Jays activated Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Bichette will skip a rehab assignment and rejoin the floundering Blue Jays following a minimum 10-day stay on the IL. He'll bat leadoff Tuesday against the Red Sox. Isiah Kiner-Falefa had been handling shortstop while Bichette was on the shelf but now will slide back to third base.

  • Blue Jays' Bowden Francis: Works in relief of Rodriguez

Francis tossed 3.2 innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Guardians, giving up two unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four.

Francis has now made each of his last three appearances out of the bullpen, but he's been utilized as a bulk reliever on two of those occasions. Heading into Friday's game, the Blue Jays likely didn't plan on using Francis quite as heavily, but he was pressed into extended action after starter Yariel Rodriguez gave up five runs (four earned) while recording just four outs in his return to the rotation following a seven-week stay on the injured list. Before Rodriguez landed on the shelf in late April, he and Francis had been deployed as tandem starters, and it's possible that manager John Schneider could proceed with that arrangement when Rodriguez's next turn through the rotation comes up Wednesday in Boston. Considering Rodriguez built up to four innings and 79 pitches during his rehab assignment prior to coming off the IL, he should be expected to work deeper into Wednesday's game than he did Friday.

  • Blue Jays' Yariel Rodriguez: Picking up another start

Rodriguez is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Red Sox in Boston.

Rodriguez built up to four innings and 79 pitches over six rehab appearances with Triple-A Buffalo prior to coming off the 15-day injured list this past Friday, but he wasn't able to improve upon that workload in his return to the big club. He needed 52 pitches to record just four outs and took a loss to the Guardians while giving up five runs (four earned) on two hits and three walks in his first start for Toronto since April 29. Rodriguez's abbreviated outing appears to be performance-related rather than the result of him incurring a setback with his spine, but the Blue Jays could still look to keep his workloads in check compared to their other starters in an effort to increase his effectiveness. Bowden Francis ended up piggybacking Rodriguez for 3.2 innings Friday and could be deployed in tandem with him again Wednesday, if Francis isn't needed in relief before then.

  • Blue Jays' Zach Pop: Stuck with loss Monday

Pop (0-2) took the loss and was charged with a blown save Monday against the Red Sox, giving up an unearned run on two hits in one-third of an inning.

His only out was a strikeout, but Pop helped create his own misfortune in the bottom of the ninth -- after Ceddanne Rafaela reached on an error, the right-hander balked him over to second base before Jarren Duran smacked a walk-off single. Pop was only working in a high-leverage spot due to all the injuries in the Blue Jays bullpen, and on the season he carries a 4.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 21.2 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Stays hot Monday

Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Monday's 7-6 loss to Boston.

Guerrero knocked a three-run blast to cap off Toronto's five-run seventh inning. The 471-foot blast traveled clear over the Draft Kings sign above the Green Monster and is the longest of his career. He hit (.235) through 14 games to begin the month but has since gone 12-for-34 (.353) with three homers over his last eight contests. Those three homers have come in his last four games after he hit just three over his previous 39 appearances. Guerrero is slashing .286/.368/.429 with 36 RBI and 23 extra-base hits.

  • Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Tosses seven innings

Bassitt allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out two during the loss to Boston.

Aside from Rafael Devers' two-run shot in the fourth inning, Bassitt had little trouble during the quality start. Bassitt was in line for the win before Toronto's bullpen was tagged with five runs. After producing a 5.03 over his first nine starts, he owns a strong 1.67 ERA over his last seven outings. Bassitt's season ERA sits at 3.45 alongside an 83:35 K:BB. He is currently projected to face the Yankees at home this weekend.

  • Blue Jays' Joey Votto: Back tightness in rehab game

Votto (ankle) is being held out of games with Single-A Dunedin due to lower-back tightness, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

It's considered minor, as the Blue Jays anticipate Votto returning to game action later this week. The veteran first baseman recently returned to games following a long absence with a sprained ankle. Votto should be ready to move up to Triple-A Buffalo soon if he can avoid more setbacks.

  • Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Remains on track to return Tuesday

Bichette (calf) went through a full workout Monday and remains on track for activation from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Tuesday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Bichette's placement on the IL earlier this month with a right calf strain seemed to be precautionary more than anything else and he's slated for a minimum absence. He will resume everyday shortstop duties upon activation, pushing Isiah Kiner-Falefa back to third base.

  • Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Long-tossing from 120 feet

Garcia (elbow) has progressed to long-tossing from 120 feet, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Working his way back from right elbow ulnar neuritis, Garcia would seem close to throwing off a mound if he can continue to progress. He was closing for the Blue Jays before getting hurt a week ago and could eventually get that job back, although Jordan Romano (elbow) and Chad Green will be factors.
