  • Orioles' Vance Honeycutt: Promoted to Double-A

Honeycutt was promoted to Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Honeycutt will move up a level in the Orioles' minor-league system after batting .182 with 10 home runs, 31 RBI, 41 runs scored and 28 stolen bases over 63 games with High-A Frederick this season. The 23-year-old will likely have to prove he can hit for a higher average before he'd be promoted to Triple-A Norfolk down the road.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Improves to 8-8

Rogers (8-8) earned the win Sunday over the Rays, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Rogers was sharp Sunday, holding Tampa Bay to a Ryan Vilade solo homer in the fourth inning before giving up a second run with two outs in the sixth. Rogers has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in 10 of his last 11 outings -- he's posted a 2.33 ERA in that span (65.2 innings). The southpaw now sports a 4.15 ERA across 23 starts (125.2 innings) this season with a 1.25 WHIP and 108:35 K:BB. Rogers is tentatively lined up for a rematch with the Rays at home in his next outing.

  • Orioles' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Regaining playing time

Encarnacion-Strand will start at third base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Rays.

The former Red appeared to have moved into a timeshare at third base with Coby Mayo by the end of last week, but Encarnacion-Strand may be re-emerging as the Orioles' preferred option at the position. He'll cover third base for a fifth straight game after going 5-for-16 with two home runs, one stolen base, three RBI and an additional run over the previous four. Mayo will also remain in the lineup for a third straight game, this time at first base while Pete Alonso gets a break from defensive duties as the DH.

  • Orioles' Carlos Narvaez: Sitting after three straight starts

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Narvaez will take a seat after starting the last three games, giving way to Yohel Pozo behind the dish Sunday. Though he's been operating as the Orioles' primary backstop since being acquired from the Red Sox on Aug. 3, Narvaez will likely see a steep drop in playing time once Samuel Basallo (shoulder) is ready to return from the injured list. Basallo is set to begin a rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Hitting bench Sunday

O'Neill is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Per Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun, first baseman Pete Alonso is nursing a minor calf injury that will keep him from playing defense Sunday, but he'll remain in the lineup at designated hitter and bump O'Neill to the bench. O'Neill started the last eight games and went 6-for-28 (.214 average) with one home run and a 6:10 BB:K.

  • Orioles' Felix Bautista: Could begin rehab stint in late August

Bautista (shoulder) could begin a minor-league rehab assignment in late August, per MLB.com.

Bautista has been facing live hitters, with his most recent session coming Saturday. The right-hander is working his way back from shoulder surgery, which he underwent last August, and it sounds like he has a real chance to make his season debut at some point in September. With Ryan Helsley's (elbow) timeline for a return still uncertain, Bautista could rejoin Baltimore's bullpen before Helsley.

  • Orioles' Pete Alonso: Another multi-hit effort Saturday

Alonso went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Rays.

Alonso gave the Orioles the lead with a solo blast in the fifth inning, and he's now recorded multiple hits in five of his past six contests. It's been a stellar August for the 31-year-old, who owns a 1.059 OPS with four homers and nine RBI over 13 games this month. On the year, he's slashing .264/.356/.487 with 27 long balls, 78 RBI, 75 runs scored and five steals across 534 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Posts quality start in no-decision

Bradish did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Rays, allowing two runs on seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts over six innings.

Bradish threw just 52 of 93 pitches for strikes and allowed plenty of traffic on the basepaths, but he battled through six frames and departed in line for a victory his bullpen couldn't secure. The 29-year-old has now delivered three quality starts in five outings since the All-Star break, with one of those appearances shortened by a rain delay. He'll carry a 3.65 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 124:58 K:BB across 133 innings this season into a home matchup with the Yankees next week.

  • Orioles' Andrew Kittredge: Earns win despite blown save

Kittredge (2-3) blew a save but earned the win in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Rays.

Kittredge was called on to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning but allowed three straight hits with two outs to blow the save. However, he was credited with the win after the Orioles came through in the 10th. It ends a run of five straight appearances without allowing an earned run for the veteran, who owns six saves and eight holds to go along with a 3.62 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB across 37.1 innings this season.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Starting rehab assignment Sunday

Basallo (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Shoulder inflammation has kept Basallo on the shelf for most of the second half, but after getting the green light to resume taking batting practice Friday, the young backstop is now ready to test his shoulder in a game setting. The Orioles have traded Adley Rutschman to Boston since Basallo landed on the injured list, so the latter should have minimal competition for starts behind the plate once he's cleared to return. Basallo should also see ample playing time as a designated hitter on his non-catching days.

  • Orioles' Cam Sanders: Collects save with one pitch

Sanders was credited with the save in Friday's 6-5 win over the Rays after recording the final out.

Yennier Cano was brought in for the ninth inning to secure the Orioles' 6-2 lead, but he proceeded to give up three runs before getting the hook. Sanders answered the call, with his first pitch of the frame resulting in a flyout by Ryan Vilade to end the game. The Orioles have gone with a closing committee in the absence of Ryan Helsley (elbow) and Felix Bautista (shoulder) -- Andrew Kittredge worked the seventh inning Friday, while Rico Garcia handled the eighth -- but Sanders isn't likely to join the mix. He's appeared in three games out of the bullpen since he was recalled from Triple-A Norkolk on Monday, giving up two runs in 3.2 innings with a 2:1 K:BB.

  • Orioles' Chris Bassitt: No-decision in return from IL

Bassitt did not factor into the decision Friday against the Rays, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three across 5.1 innings.

Bassitt was cleared to return to the big leagues following a two-plus month rehab from surgery to remove bone spurs from his back. He built up his pitch count to 88 (53 strikes) and induced seven groundouts, though he generated only two whiffs. Bassitt now sits at a 5.11 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 40:25 K:BB over 61.2 innings this season. He's lined up to take on the Yankees at home next week.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Logs four hits in Friday's win

Henderson went 4-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and an additional run scored during the Orioles' 6-5 win over the Rays on Friday.

Henderson matched a season high with four hits, the last of which was a two-run homer off Chris Roycroft in the eighth inning to extend Baltimore's lead to 6-2. Henderson has recorded at least three hits 12 times this season, including twice over his last three outings. He has an .888 OPS with one steal, two home runs and four RBI across 49 plate appearances in August.

  • Orioles' Blaze Alexander: Hits in cage for first time

Alexander (hand) hit in the batting cage Friday, per MLB.com.

It's the first time Alexander has done so amid his recovery from a fractured left hand. The utility player has been on the injured list since mid-July, but he appears to be trending toward a return to the Orioles at some point in late August or early September.

  • Orioles' Pete Alonso: Batting leadoff for first time in career

Alonso is batting leadoff Friday against the Rays, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Alonso will be playing in his 1,130th career regular-season game Friday, and it will be the first time he's ever hit leadoff. The star first baseman has been one of the few bright spots for Baltimore this season, slashing .259/.353/.480 with 26 home runs, 77 RBI, 74 runs scored, five stolen bases and a 61:127 BB:K across 524 trips to the plate. Gunnar Henderson has moved down to the fifth spot in the lineup.
