Orioles' Rico Garcia: Notches win Tuesday
Garcia (3-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 9-7 victory over the Marlins, walking one and striking out two over 1.1 scoreless innings.
After Miami tied the game at 7-7 in the eighth inning off Andrew Kittredge, Garcia came on to get the final out of the frame and then delivered a perfect ninth after the O's struck for two runs in the top of the ninth. Garcia appears to be the top high-leverage option in the Baltimore bullpen while Ryan Helsley (elbow) is on the shelf, a role he's earned with a 0.56 ERA, 0.38 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB through 16 innings. Over his 17 appearances so far in 2026, Garcia has recorded three wins, seven holds and one save, and he could be poised to boost the latter number over the next couple weeks.

Orioles' Pete Alonso: Crosses plate four times in Miami
Alonso went 2-for-3 with two walks, two doubles, four runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Marlins.
Facing a familiar foe from his NL East days with the Mets, Alonso put together one of his best performances as a member of the Orioles. The veteran first baseman has caught fire over the last week after a sluggish start to the season, hitting safely in six straight games while batting .400 (8-for-20) with four doubles, two homers, five RBI and nine runs.

Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Powers offense in wild win
Basallo went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Marlins.
The 21-year-old rapped an RBI double in the first inning, a two-run single in the third and an RBI triple in the fifth as part of an impressive offensive eruption by the O's. Basallo has four multi-hit performances in his last 10 games, batting a blistering .395 (15-for-38) over that stretch with seven of his 15 hits (four doubles, a triple and two homers) going for extra bases, along with four runs and eight RBI.

Orioles' Chris Bassitt: Escapes with no-decision Tuesday
Bassitt didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Marlins, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out three.
Miami tagged the veteran righty for runs in each of the first three frames before Bassitt finally delivered a clean fourth, but he still got the hook after 76 pitches (42 strikes) with Baltimore holding a 7-4 lead. Bassitt has been able to keep the ball in the yard this season, serving up just three homers in 32 innings, but that's about the only positive takeaway from his performance so far. He'll carry a 5.91 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 20:17 K:BB into his next outing, which is set to come at home this weekend against the A's.

Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Taking seat Tuesday
Rutschman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami.
It's a routine day off for Rutschman, who had started each of the previous four contests for the Orioles. Samuel Basallo is doing the catching and batting fifth in the series opener.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Throws over weekend
Rogers (illness) has rejoined the Orioles in Miami after doing some throwing at Camden Yards this past weekend, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Rogers landed on the 15-day injured list last Friday due to a nasty illness that sapped him of his strength. He's still regaining some of his energy, but the expectation is that Rogers will be ready to rejoin the Baltimore rotation when first eligible May 11.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Another turn in rotation awaits
Povich is slated to start Thursday's game against the Marlins in Miami, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.
With Trevor Rogers (illness) hitting the injured list, the Orioles summoned Povich from Triple-A Norfolk last Friday to fill the opening in the rotation. Povich stumbled in a tough matchup with the Yankees on the road, striking out four batters over four innings but yielding five earned runs on seven hits and two walks en route to taking a loss. The lefty will get a more favorable draw for his upcoming turn through the rotation, but given that he maintains a 5.14 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 208.1 career innings in the majors, he won't be a comfortable lineup option for fantasy managers looking to protect their ratios.

Orioles' Shane Baz: Knocked around in third loss
Baz (1-3) took the loss Monday against the Yankees, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits and five walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out four.
The 26-year-old right-hander struggled across the board in a tough matchup Monday. Baz gave up a season-high five earned runs, issued a season-worst five free passes and matched his lowest output in strikeouts of the campaign. Although Baz has tossed at least five frames in each of his first seven starts, he'll bring a rocky 4.99 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB over 39.2 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Athletics.

Orioles' Albert Suarez: Accepts assignment to Triple-A
Suarez cleared waivers Monday and was assigned outright by the Orioles to Triple-A Norfolk, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.
Suarez was DFA'd by the Orioles on Saturday, and after not being claimed off waivers by another team, he will opt to stay with the organization in the minors. It's the second time in as many weeks that Suarez has been booted from Baltimore's 40-man roster, but he could see some action with the big club this season. Across six major-league outings this season, Suarez has a 3.45 ERA, 1.28 wHIP, one save and a 9:9 K:BB in 15.2 innings.

Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Seeking clearance for rehab games
The Orioles announced Monday that Kjerstad (hamstring) will be re-evaluated soon to determine his readiness for a rehab assignment, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Kjerstad hasn't played in a game since he strained his right hamstring back on March 19, but he's finally closing in on a rehab assignment. Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com notes that the 27-year-old could begin an assignment over the weekend with Double-A Chesapeake if all goes according to plan during the week. Kjerstad is a good bet to remain in the minors once he's activated rather than being added to the Orioles' 26-man active roster.

Orioles' Ryan Helsley: Could resume throwing this week
Helsley (elbow) could be cleared to resume a throwing program later this week, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Helsley was placed on the 15-day injured list this past Friday with right elbow inflammation. Imaging on the closer's elbow came back clean, and he might be ready to throw in a few days after being re-evaluated. Rico Garcia is the top candidate for saves in the Orioles bullpen while Helsely is out, though Yennier Cano, Andrew Kittredge and Anthony Nunez could also be in the mix.

Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Shut down from throwing
Westburg has been shut down from throwing after feeling discomfort in his right elbow, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Westburg has been sidelined by a partial UCL tear in his right elbow since mid-February. He was steadily progressing through his recovery, including swinging a bat and a throwing program, but he has recently hit a setback and will be shut down until he's reevaluated by the Orioles' medical staff. Westburg is eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list in late May, but he may need a longer stint on the IL depending on how his elbow responds over the coming days.

Orioles' Trey Gibson: Sent down after spot start
The Orioles optioned Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Gibson made his major-league debut with a spot start Sunday against the Yankees, getting charged with three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while notching a pair of strikeouts. The right-hander's spot on the active roster will be absorbed by Lou Trivino.

Orioles' Lou Trivino: Agrees to majors deal with Orioles
The Orioles signed Trivino to a one-year contract Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Trivino recently opted out of his minor-league contract with the Phillies when he didn't receive a promotion despite a 2.77 ERA and 20:4 K:BB over 13 innings at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Orioles were willing to give him the major-league deal he sought, and Trivino will provide Baltimore with an experienced middle reliever.

Orioles' Blaze Alexander: Claiming fourth straight start
Alexander will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Yankees.
Alexander will stick in the lineup for the fourth straight game at his fourth different position, after previously making starts at second base, center field and shortstop. The Orioles will likely continue to make room for Alexander in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to start against righties may be more sporadic while he maintains a weak .472 OPS over 80 plate appearances on the season.

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Exiting starting nine Monday
Mayo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Jeremiah Jackson will step in at third base in place of Mayo, who will hit the bench after going 1-for-16 with a 0:7 BB:K over his last six games. The young infielder has already endured multiple lulls in production less than two months into the season and is slashing just .165/.234/.306 while striking out at a 29.8 percent clip over 94 plate appearances. Once the Orioles get the likes of Jackson Holliday (hand) and Jordan Westburg (elbow) back from the injured list, Mayo will be in danger of moving into more of a part-time role, if Baltimore doesn't option him to Triple-A Norfolk.
