  • Mariners' Brock Rodden: Handling everyday role at shortstop

Rodden will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Since being called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Rodden has started at shortstop in each of the Mariners' ensuing five games. Rodden has gotten off to a nice start to his big-league career by going 4-for-13 with two doubles, three walks, three RBI and two runs, but his playing time will likely fall by the wayside once J.P. Crawford (wrist) returns from the injured list. Crawford is slated to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A on Thursday and could be ready to rejoin the Mariners within a week.

  • Mariners' Luke Raley: Moved to 60-day IL

The Mariners transferred Raley (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to July 31.

The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Jhonathan Diaz, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. The move also means Raley will be sidelined for the rest of the regular season, though he would be eligible to play in the postseason should the Mariners qualify. He'll finish the 2026 regular season with a .225/.284/.439 slash line with one steal, 15 home runs and 39 RBI over 287 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Josh Simpson: Optioned to Triple-A

The Mariners optioned Simpson to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

The move corresponds with the Mariners promoting Jhonathan Diaz from Triple-A. Simpson struggled in his last outing Tuesday against the Brewers, when he allowed five runs on three hits (including two home runs) and two walks while striking out one batter in two-thirds of an inning. He'll head back down to Triple-A, where he has a 2.53 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over 32 innings this season.

  • Mariners' Jhonathan Diaz: Brought up by Seattle

The Mariners selected Diaz's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Diaz has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 7-9 record across 24 games (23 starts) with a 6.22 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 83:42 K:BB over 111.1 innings. He's been used in both the rotation and bullpen in his limited outings in the majors, but he could make a start for Seattle in the coming days depending on the status of Bryan Woo, who is working through right shoulder soreness. In corresponding moves, Josh Simpson was optioned to Triple-A and Luke Raley (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Cleared for rehab assignment

Crawford (wrist) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford has been cleared to take the next step in his recovery from the left wrist inflammation that landed him on the 10-day injured list July 31. The veteran infielder may need only a couple of outings in the minors before he's cleared to return to the big club for the final stretch of the season. Prior to his stint on the IL, Crawford was slashing .212/.330/.345 with one steal, 10 home runs and 30 RBI over 364 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Taylor Ward: Drawing back into starting nine as DH

Ward (quadriceps) will start at designated hitter and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

A sore quad kept Ward out of the starting nine for each of the previous five games, though he made enough improvement for the Mariners to make him available off the bench Tuesday, per MLB.com. However, with the Mariners falling behind by six runs after five innings in what was ultimately a 22-0 loss, Ward wasn't called upon to pinch hit. He'll be able to return to the lineup Wednesday in a non-defensive role, and assuming his quad responds well, Ward should be ready to resume playing right field in short order.

  • Mariners' Bryce Miller: Tagged for six runs in rout

Miller (4-7) took the loss Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings.

Miller held Milwaukee to a single unearned run through his first four innings before everything unraveled in the fifth. He was charged with five runs in the frame, with Christian Yelich's three-run homer delivering the biggest blow, before Seattle's bullpen allowed the game to turn into a 22-0 rout. It marked Miller's first start this season in which he failed to complete five innings, while the five earned runs matched his season high. The right-hander has struggled mightily over his last seven outings, posting a 0-5 record with a 6.57 ERA. On the season, he owns a 3.71 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 87:18 K:BB across 89.2 innings. Miller will seek to find any kind of improvement in his next start, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Cubs.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Back in action Tuesday

Robles (shoulder) will start in right field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Robles was unavailable to play in the Mariners' last contest Sunday versus the Astros due to right shoulder soreness, but he's good to go after Monday's team off day. He'll handle right field for Seattle while Taylor Ward (quadriceps) is on the mend.

  • Mariners' Taylor Ward: Missing fifth straight start

Ward (quadriceps) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee.

Ward has not played since last Wednesday as be battles nagging tightness in his quad. The Mariners have been listing him as day-to-day, but he's available off the bench for Tuesday's series opener and could be back in the lineup Wednesday, per Tim Booth of The Seattle Times. Victor Robles will cover right field in Ward's stead.

  • Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Delivers 13th homer in win

Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 win over Houston.

Raleigh took advantage of Daikin Park's hitter-friendly dimensions by lifting a 327-foot solo homer into the left-field Crawford Boxes in the sixth inning. It marked the catcher's second homer of August, a month in which he's slashing just .114/.250/.250 through 13 contests. It's been a deeply disappointing 2026 for the 29-year-old, as Raleigh has mustered just a .158/.268/.300 slash line with 13 homers, 44 RBI, 27 runs and two stolen bases across 91 games after launching 60 long balls during the 2025 regular season.

Arozarena turned on an elevated fastball and launched a solo homer into the Crawford Boxes in left field, giving the Mariners a 1-0 advantage in the first inning. The left fielder has had his power stroke on display of late, clubbing three homers and two doubles across his past six games. Overall, the 31-year-old is hitting .276/.369/.459 with 17 homers, 53 RBI, 78 runs and 20 stolen bases in 117 contests.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Secures 22nd save

Munoz picked up the save Sunday against the Astros. He allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning.

Munoz issued a one-out walk but was otherwise able to stifle the Astros' offense in the ninth inning to secure a road win for the Mariners. It was a much-needed positive outing for the right-hander, who imploded for five runs (four earned) in the 10th inning of Friday's loss. Overall, it's been a down year for Munoz, who owns a 4.37 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 72:18 K:BB across 45.1 innings while converting 22 of 29 save opportunities.

  • Mariners' Bryan Woo: Dealing with shoulder soreness

Woo (shoulder) was lifted after throwing 75 pitches in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Astros, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Woo finished his day having tossed six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and walk while striking out five batters on his way to a win. The right-hander began experiencing right shoulder soreness, and as a result, he was removed from the game after six frames. Manager Dan Wilson described the decision as precautionary, and Woo said the soreness was "nothing he was concerned about." With the victory, Woo now owns a 9-8 record with a 4.10 ERA and 137 strikeouts over 138.1 innings in 24 starts this season.

  • Mariners' Andy Ibanez: Inks minor-league deal with Seattle

Ibanez and the Mariners agreed on a minor-league contract Sunday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Ibanez was released by the Mets on Thursday, and it took only a few days for him to find his next opportunity. The 33-year-old has gone 2-for-23 with five RBI and one run scored over 23 at-bats in 14 contests with the Athletics and Mets this season. Ibanez batted .269 with four home runs, 18 RBI and 15 runs scored over 31 games with Triple-A Syracuse, and he will report to Triple-A Tacoma with his new organization.
