Red Sox's Tommy Kahnle: Back with Boston on minors deal
The Red Sox signed Kahnle to a minor-league contract Monday.
Kahnle was DFA'd by Boston earlier this month and elected free agency July 6. After testing the market, Kahnle has returned to the Red Sox on a minor-league pact and will join Triple-A Worcester. The 36-year-old pitched in eight games out of the bullpen for Boston last month and allowed eight runs on 12 hits and six walks with five strikeouts across nine innings.

Red Sox's Nate Eaton: Sent to Triple-A
The Red Sox optioned Eaton to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Since going 3-for-4 with two doubles June 23 in Colorado, Eaton has been mired in an 0-for-20 slump and will make his way off the major-league roster. Jahmai Jones was acquired from the Tigers to round out the Red Sox's bench unit.

Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Shipped to Boston
The Red Sox acquired Jones from the Tigers on Tuesday in exchange for a player to be named later, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
The 29-year-old was designated for assignment by Detroit last week and will now make his way to Boston. Jones has excelled against lefties throughout his big-league career but has yet to get on track in 2026. Jones has a .440 OPS in 105 overall plate appearances and has a .154/.250/.256 slash line in 88 plate appearances versus southpaws. A short-side platoon role is a best-case scenario for the veteran outfielder.

Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Still not throwing baseballs
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said Thursday that Crochet (shoulder/lat) has yet to resume a formal throwing program and is limited to playing catch with weighted plyometric balls, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Initially placed on the injured list April 29 due to shoulder inflammation, Crochet advanced to facing live hitters in late May, but after experiencing a setback and being diagnosed with a low-grade lat strain, he's essentially back to square one in the rehab process. While he hasn't been shut down from activity entirely, Crochet will need to eventually restart a throwing progression before the Red Sox have a better sense of when he might be ready to return. Even if he gets the green light to start playing catch with a baseball during the All-Star break, Crochet would likely need at least a month to check all the boxes in his throwing program and complete a rehab assignment, so a return in late August probably represents a best-case scenario for the 27-year-old.

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Continuing rehab in Florida
Interim manager Chad Tracy confirmed Thursday that Anthony's (finger) recent follow-up appointment with Dr. Gary Lourie revealed no new information about his injury, and the outfielder will continue to rehab at the Red Sox's complex in Florida through at least the All-Star break, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Anthony is still trying to get over the hump in his recovery from the partially torn tendon in his right ring finger that has kept him on the shelf since May 7. Though Tracy noted that Anthony's finger is healing as expected, the 23-year-old has struggled to regain full strength in his hand, which has thus far prevented him from starting a hitting progression. Until Anthony reaches that step in the recovery process, the Red Sox won't be able to map out a minor-league rehab assignment for him. Though Anthony remains without an official timeline to return from the 60-day injured list, fantasy managers can safely rule him out through the rest of July.

Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Excels in long relief
Bello struck out five and allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks across 4.1 innings of long relief Sunday in the Red Sox's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Mets.
Boston recalled Bello from Triple-A Worcester prior to their final game of the first half, after the right-hander submitted a 4.34 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 22:4 K:BB in 18.2 innings across his four starts in the minors. Though Bello had previously been used as a traditional starter or bulk reliever in his prior 13 outings with Boston this season, he was deployed as part of a piggyback arrangement with Payton Tolle, whom interim manager Chad Tracy indicated prior to the game would be deliberately limited as a means of workload management. After Tolle covered the first 3.2 innings, Bello entered midway through the fourth and was able to keep the Red Sox competitive before the Boston offense finally broke through with two runs in the ninth inning to send the game to extras. Boston will have an opening in its rotation until either Ranger Suarez (groin) or Connelly Early (elbow) return from the injured list, and Bello or Eduardo Rivera -- who made an abbreviated start Saturday -- would appear to be the top candidates to fill the void.

Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Notches second save
Whitlock earned the save in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning victory over the Mets, striking out one in a perfect 10th inning.
After Aroldis Chapman held New York scoreless in the bottom of the ninth inning, Whitlock got the call in the 10th after the Red Sox took a run-one lead in the top half. He'd set the Mets down on 15 pitches, stranding the free runner at second base to notch his second save this season. Whitlock has been excellent in the backend of Boston's bullpen of late. He's allowed just one run in his last 14 appearances (13.1 innings), posting a 0.68 WHIP with 12 strikeouts and no walks over that span. Whitlock will head into the All-Star break with a 2.18 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 37:6 K:BB across 33 innings this year.

Red Sox's Payton Tolle: Abbreviated outing Sunday
Tolle did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing a run on three hits and a walk across 3.2 innings. He struck out seven.
Tolle was scheduled for a shorter outing heading into the All-Star break, per Tim Healey of The Boston Globe. The left-hander gave up just one run on a Francisco Lindor first-inning double before eventually departing in the fourth inning after throwing 66 pitches. Tolle will head into the All-Star break with a 3.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 87:25 K:BB across 15 starts (84 innings).

Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Activated and optioned
The Red Sox activated Sogard (oblique) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.
Sogard is healthy again after completing a rehab assignment following his five-week stint on the shelf due to a right oblique strain, but the Red Sox don't have room for him on the 26-man roster and will keep him at Worcester. The quality performances of Anthony Seigler and Tsung-Che Cheng in recent weeks has lessened the need for the team to keep Sogard on hand as infield depth in the big leagues.

Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Heading to bench Sunday
Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Narvaez will hit the bench for the second time in the series while Connor Wong gets the nod behind the dish. Since the start of June, Narvaez is slashing just .111/.160/.133, and that lack of offensive production could put him at risk of falling out of a timeshare with Wong and moving into a clear No. 2 role.

Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Taking seat against lefty
Yoshida is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Yoshida has gone 7-for-17 with a home run, two doubles and two walks while starting four straight matchups against righties, but he'll move to the bench Sunday while the Mets send southpaw Zach Thornton to the bump. Jarren Duran will fill in for Yoshida as Boston's designated hitter, batting seventh.

Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Joining big-league bullpen
The Red Sox recalled Bello from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.
The right-hander was in the mix to be called up for a spot start Saturday, but Boston instead turned to Eduardo Rivera to fill Ranger Suarez's (groin) rotation spot. Bello will still join the big club for the final game before the All-Star break and will be available out of the bullpen, with interim manager Chad Tracy suggesting that the 27-year-old could be called upon to cover multiple innings in relief since starter Payton Tolle will likely be in line for a shorter outing by design Sunday, per Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. Since being optioned to Worcester in early June, the 27-year-old posted a 4.34 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 22:4 K:BB across 18.2 frames in four starts after struggling to a 6.34 ERA in 12 outings for the Red Sox.

Red Sox's Eduardo Rivera: Quiets Mets in spot start
Rivera took a no-decision Saturday against the Mets, allowing no runs on one hit and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out three.
Making his second major-league appearance of 2026, Rivera fared well Saturday while giving up one single across 3.2 scoreless frames. The 23-year-old southpaw has impressed for the Red Sox in limited action this season, delivering seven shutout innings while yielding only two hits. Rivera was likely just making a spot start for Boston's banged-up rotation, as Connelly Early (elbow) and Ranger Suarez (groin) could both be back shortly following the All-Star break.

Red Sox's Danny Coulombe: DFA'd after Saturday's game
The Red Sox designated Coulombe for assignment following Saturday's 4-0 win over the Mets, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Coulombe finished out Saturday's game for the Red Sox, issuing three walks without allowing a hit over two scoreless frames. Altogether, the veteran southpaw produced a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 22 innings with Boston this season. If he clears waivers, Coulombe could elect free agency and may garner solid interest from teams looking to add a southpaw to its bullpen.

Red Sox's Jace Mataczynski: Popped by Red Sox
The Red Sox selected Mataczynski with the No. 96 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
The 18-year-old was a two-sport athlete at Hudson High School in Wisconsin and offers elite athleticism, but his tools are fairly raw. The power and speed potential is obvious, but Mataczynski needs some definite refinement.
