  • Padres' Austin Davis: Returns to San Diego as NRI

The Padres re-signed Davis to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Davis, who turns 32 in February, made seven appearances for San Diego in 2024, allowing eight runs (seven earned) over seven innings of work. The lefty reliever will try to win a spot in the Padres' bullpen but is likelier to begin the 2025 season at Triple-A El Paso.

  • Padres' Niko Goodrum: Signs with San Diego

Goodrum signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Friday.

Goodrum had productive seasons from 2018-2020 but has played minimally in the majors since 2021. He'll likely serve as versatile organizational depth for the Padres.

  • Padres' Martin Maldonado: Signs on with San Diego

The Padres signed Maldonado to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Maldonado was released by the White Sox in July of this past season after slashing just .119/.174/.230 in 147 plate appearances. The 38-year-old has also earned a minus-21 Run Value via Baseball Savant over the last two seasons for his defensive work. The Padres do have a tenuous catching situation with Luis Campusano coming off a disappointing season and Brett Sullivan currently slated to back him up, so it's possible Maldonado wins a roster spot.

Wendelken is coming off a successful two-year stint in Japan with the Yokohama Bay Stars, having posted a 1.57 ERA and 87:33 K:BB over 92 innings. The 31-year-old reliever has collected a 4.00 ERA and 151:70 K:BB across 159.2 frames covering parts of six seasons at the big-league level.

Cease agreed to a one-year, $13.75 million contract with the Padres on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Cease will receive a raise of almost $6 million in his final year of arbitration eligibility. The 29-year-old posted a 3.47 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 224:65 K:BB over 189.1 innings during the regular season and is now entering a contract year.

  • Padres' Jason Adam: Gets $4.8 million from Friars

Adam agreed to a one-year, $4.8 million contract with the Padres on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

After arriving in San Diego from Tampa Bay at last season's trade deadline, Adam dominated to the tune of a 1.01 ERA and 0.79 WHIP over 26.2 innings. As a result, he's been rewarded with a $2.1 million raise and will likely continue to work as a setup man for closer Robert Suarez.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Avoids arbitration with San Diego

The Padres and Morejon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2 million contract Thursday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Morejon was in his second year of arbitration eligibility. The left-hander was excellent out of the San Diego bullpen in 2024, putting up a 2.83 ERA and 71:21 K:BB over 63.2 regular-season innings. However, the club is thinking about stretching him out this spring as a candidate to join its rotation.

  • Padres' Luis Arraez: Settles at $14 million

Arraez and the Padres agreed to a one-year, $14 million contract Thursday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Arraez will receive a raise of nearly $3.5 million for his final year of arbitration eligibility in 2025. The 27-year-old took a step back in 2024 with a .314/.346/.392 slash line in 150 regular-season games between Miami and San Diego, though he still won the National League batting title for the second straight year. Arraez underwent surgery in October to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, but he's expected to enter spring training at full health.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Gets $1 million from San Diego

The Padres and Campusano avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1 million contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

It was Campusano's first year of arbitration eligibility. The 26-year-old entered last season as the Padres' top catcher, but he was eventually passed on the depth chart by Kyle Higashioka and finished with just a .227/.281/.361 slash line while spending some time in the minors. Higashioka is now with the Rangers and Campusano is currently at the top of the catching hierarchy again in San Diego, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the club brought someone in to at least share the job.

  • Padres' Luis Patino: Back with San Diego on MiLB deal

The Padres re-signed Patino (elbow) to a minor-league contract Monday.

Patino was non-tendered by San Diego in November but returns to the organization as he continues his rehab from April 2024 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander is unlikely to be ready to pitch until around midseason.
