Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Reverts to IR
Jordan (undisclosed) reverted to injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Per the report, the running back plans to do an injury settlement with the Texans at some point, which would giving him a chance to play in 2024 once he's healthy. Jordan had 21 carries for 55 yards and five catches for 49 yards in four preseason appearances with Houston. The rookie was drafted in the sixth round by Houston back in April.

Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Leading rusher Friday
Jordan had six carries for 22 yards in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over Pittsburgh.
Jordan led the Texans in rushing, but it was all accumulated in the fourth quarter, which indicates a long climb to win a roster spot. He was used as a returner on kickoffs in the Hall of Fame Game last week but did not get that opportunity Friday.

Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Used as returner
Jordan logged three carries for five yards and returned one kickoff for 15 yards in Thursday's 21-17 preseason loss to Chicago.
Houston's top two backs were held out of the game, giving Jordan, Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale opportunities to impress the coaching staff. Jordan also rotated in on the kickoff-return team with Steven Sims and Johnny Johnson. Ogunbowale is likely the leader among the three at running back given his experience in the system, but a return job could be winnable for Jordan.

Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Expected to play Thursday
Jordan and Dameon Pierce are expected to play extensively in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Bears, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans plans to sit several key starters, including lead back Joe Mixon, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Wilson adds that Jordan has had a string of good practices in which he's shown some skill as a pass-catching back. His background and feel for a zone-scheme rushing attack from his college days could push Pierce, who had difficulty adjusting to the offense in 2023, for the second spot on the depth chart.

Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Joins crowded Houston backfield
The Texans selected Jordan in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 205th overall.
Jordan led Louisville in rushing yards last season (1,128) and compiled 13 touchdowns on the ground, but the running back will turn 25 at the start of the season and is very slight (5-foot-9, 193 pounds) for a ball carrier that doesn't have a ton of straight-line speed (4.53 40-yard dash). Jordan's vision and craftiness to set up blocks made him an explosive playmaker in college, but that sort of time won't be allotted to him at the professional level.
