  • Padres' Manny Machado: Opens scoring with homer

Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. The third baseman opened the scoring when he took MacKenzie Gore deep in the first inning Tuesday. Machado is still playing catch-up after a slow start to the campaign, but he's up to a .260/.314/.389 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and five stolen bases through 76 contests. His .703 OPS is the highest it's been since May 5.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Racks up four hits in win

Machado went 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers.

Machado has multiple hits in four of his last five games, going 10-for-21 in that span. The third baseman was batting just .240 at the start of June, but he's pushed that up to .263 with a .704 OPS, seven home runs, five stolen bases, 37 RBI and 32 runs scored across 72 contests this season. While his power production has been a career low so far, the 31-year-old could still put together a surge over the second half of the campaign.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Slugs seventh homer

Machado went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Thursday's win over Milwaukee.

Machado jumped on a four-seamer from Bryse Wilson with two outs in the bottom of the first inning and sent it into the stands in right field to put San Diego up 3-1. The third baseman would also add a single, giving him his third multi-hit performance in his last four games. Machado is now up to seven homers on the season, though Thursday's long ball was only his second since May 3.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Gets ejected Sunday

Machado was ejected from Sunday's game against the Mets in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two strikeouts.

Padres manager Mike Shildt was also tossed from the game after leaving the dugout to argue with the home plate umpire. Machado slammed his bat in frustration with the called third strike but didn't make any contact with the umpire, so he shouldn't be subject to any further punishment from MLB.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Returns to third base Saturday

Machado started at third base and went 0-for-4 in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Machado recently missed four games due to a strained right hip flexor and was limited to DH duties in four straight contests following his return. The veteran was able to resume playing the field Saturday, though he didn't look like he was up to full speed while running out a grounder in the seventh inning. It's unclear how much the hip issue is bothering Machado, as he's batting just .200 (4-for-20) with no runs or RBI and seven strikeouts since returning to the lineup.
