Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Hands out assist in loss
Veleno notched an assist and five hits in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Flyers.
Veleno has been in and out of the lineup frequently this season. His helper ended a 21-game point drought dating back to his assist in a Jan. 8 game versus the Panthers. He ends the regular season with five points, 52 shots on net, 166 hits, 32 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating over 61 appearances. Veleno will likely continue to be a part-time option in the postseason.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Set to play Thursday
Veleno (illness) is set to play Thursday against Tampa Bay, per J-F Chaumont of NHL.com.
Veleno has two goals, four points, 17 PIM and 149 hits in 58 outings with Montreal in 2025-26. After missing Tuesday's game against Florida, Veleno is projected to serve on the fourth line alongside Jake Evans and Josh Anderson.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Not available Tuesday
Veleno (illness) won't play Tuesday versus the Panthers, Marc Antoine Godin of Radio Canada reports.
Veleno had played in nine of the last 10 games, exclusively in a bottom-six role. This is his second illness in as many months, but the 26-year-old should be back in the mix soon. He's day-to-day ahead of Thursday's game versus the Lightning.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Back at practice
Veleno (illness) participated in Thursday's practice as an extra forward.
Veleno appears ready to return to the lineup after missing Monday's practice, but that doesn't mean he will play against Anaheim on Friday. He also sat out Tuesday's 7-5 loss to San Jose, but it's unclear if he was available for that contest because he was a healthy scratch for two straight outings before the matchup. Veleno has two goals, four points, 45 shots on net and 119 hits in 49 appearances this season.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Remains unavailable
Veleno (illness) will not be in the lineup against the Sharks on Tuesday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
Veleno has been a healthy scratch in five of the Habs' last eight outings, so it's not immediately clear if he is still under the weather or if he is just being left out of the lineup. Even when he does play, the forward hasn't offered much in the way of fantasy value, considering he has zero goals and one assist in his last 22 outings.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Absent from practice
Veleno (illness) didn't participate in Monday's practice, per Eric Engels of Sportsnet.
Veleno has been a healthy scratch in five of the last eight games. Even if he's healthy, he may not play against the Sharks on Tuesday. Veleno has earned two goals, four points, 45 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and 119 hits across 49 appearances this season.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Loses place in lineup
Veleno was a healthy scratch for the third straight game in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Avalanche.
Jake Evans and Alexandre Texier recently returned from injuries, leaving no room for Veleno in the lineup. Over 46 outings this season, Veleno has just four points with 44 shots on net, 111 hits and 15 PIM. Even if he draws back in, he'll be limited to bottom-six usage.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Scores in Sunday's win
Veleno scored a goal and added five hits in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Oilers.
Veleno got on the scoresheet for the second game in a row. That follows a stretch of 10 games without a point. The 25-year-old forward will likely remain limited in his scoring potential in a bottom-six role -- he's most often been on the fourth line this year. He's at three points, 24 shots on net, 63 hits, 18 blocked shots, 13 PIM and a minus-9 rating over 27 appearances so far.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Pockets helper in overtime loss
Veleno logged an assist and four blocked shots in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Rangers.
Veleno saw 15:51 of ice time in this contest, his second-highest total of the season. The 25-year-old also landed on a line with defensive ace Jake Evans, which could lead to more ice time if that duo, plus Brendan Gallagher, stays together. Veleno is not a fantasy option in most formats -- he has just two points with 23 shots on net, 58 hits and a minus-10 rating over 26 outings.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Gets first goal, point of season
Veleno scored a goal on four shots, blocked three shots and added two hits in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Capitals.
The goal was Veleno's first point with the Canadiens. The Montreal native has gone from healthy scratch to potentially a middle-six role as the Canadiens try to navigate without Kirby Dach (foot), Alex Newhook (ankle) and Jake Evans (undisclosed). Veleno has added 14 shots on net, 30 hits, 10 blocked shots, 13 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 15 appearances, but his offense should improve if he can earn an uptick in ice time -- he skated 17:00 in Thursday's contest as a result of Evans' early exit.

Canadiens' Joe Veleno: Lands with hometown team
Veleno inked a one-year contract with Montreal on Wednesday.
Veleno split the 2024-25 campaign between Detroit and Chicago, racking up eight goals and nine helpers in 74 combined regular-season games. After being traded to Seattle and then bought out by the Kraken, the 25-year-old center was free to return to his native Montreal. With the Habs, Veleno should challenge for a middle-six role and figures to push for the 20-point threshold after missing that mark last time around.

Kraken's Joe Veleno: Lands on unconditional waivers
Veleno was placed on unconditional waivers Sunday to buy out the final season of his two-year, $4.55 million contract.
Seattle acquired Veleno from Chicago on June 21 in exchange for Andre Burakovsky. The 25-year-old Veleno had eight goals, 17 points, 75 shots on net and 139 hits across 74 regular-season appearances between Detroit and Chicago in 2024-25. Assuming he clears waivers, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Kraken's Joe Veleno: Dealt to Seattle
Veleno was acquired by Seattle from Chicago on Saturday in exchange for Andre Burakovsky, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.
Veleno's time in Chicago was brief after being acquired from Detroit at the trade deadline in March. The 25-year-old had three goals and seven points in 18 regular-season games with the Blackhawks, giving him eight goals and nine assists across 56 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. He should be a bottom-six forward, at best, in Seattle.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Finds twine Tuesday
Veleno scored a goal and put two shots on net in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.
Veleno lit the lamp for Chicago's second goal of the contest just over six minutes into the first period. Overall, the 25-year-old center posted eight goals, 17 points, 139 hits and 75 shots on net in 74 games this season. Veleno's first 18 games with the Blackhawks saw him raise his play offensively with three goals and seven points in that span. He wrapped up the season with back-to-back games with a point and was a bright spot down the stretch on the Blackhawks' fourth line. He is signed through next season and should challenge for a middle-six role to begin the 2025-26 campaign.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Posts helper Sunday
Veleno produced an assist, three shots on goal, five hits and two PIM in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Penguins.
Veleno has two goals and three assists over his last seven games, which is solid work for a bottom-six forward. The 25-year-old wasn't able to find much consistency with the Red Wings prior to the trade deadline, but he's been a little better with the Blackhawks. Overall, he's at 15 points, 64 shots on net, 127 hits, 40 blocked shots, 15 PIM and a minus-20 rating over 69 appearances.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Finds twine Sunday
Veleno scored a goal in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Utah.
Veleno has four points over his last four games. The 25-year-old is seeing a larger role on the third line while Colton Dach (elbow) is injured and Jason Dickinson (wrist) is out for the season. Veleno is up to 14 points, 60 shots on net, 119 hits, 38 blocked shots and a minus-19 rating over 66 appearances. He's still not a strong option for most fantasy managers given his bottom-six deployment on a weak team.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Pockets helper in loss
Veleno registered an assist and three hits in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Golden Knights.
Veleno has three points over his last three contests. The 25-year-old has played in nine of 10 games since he was traded to the Blackhawks from the Red Wings. He's not a lock for the lineup, but when he plays, he's often been in a bottom-six role. Veleno is up to 13 points, 59 shots on net, 118 hits, 37 blocked shots and a minus-18 rating over 65 appearances this season.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Multi-point performance Sunday
Veleno notched a goal and an assist in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Flyers.
Veleno cracked the scoresheet for the first time since Feb. 4, when he recorded an assist in a 5-4 shootout win over the Kraken, and he scored for the first time since Jan. 7, when he bagged a goal versus the Senators. These were his first two points since he was traded to the Blackhawks from the Red Wings. Fantasy managers can't overreact to this two-point performance, though, as the 25-year-old has recorded only 12 points in 63 appearances this season. Thus, his fantasy upside is minimal.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Expected to play Thursday
Veleno (illness) is slated to be in the lineup Thursday versus San Jose, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.
Veleno missed practice Wednesday with his illness, but has not missed any game action. Veleno was dealt from Detroit at the deadline with Petr Mrazek going to Detroit. Veleno had five goals and five assists in 56 games with the Red Wings this season and has yet to hit the scoresheet in two games with Chicago since the trade.

Blackhawks' Joe Veleno: Absent from practice
Veleno is under the weather and wasn't on the ice for practice Wednesday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Veleno should tentatively be considered questionable for Thursday's matchup with the Sharks. In his two games with Chicago, the 25-year-old center has yet to register a point while generating six hits, two blocks and one shot. Even when healthy, Veleno is far from a lock to suit up on a nightly basis and could find himself serving as a healthy scratch periodically.
