  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Gives up four goals in loss

Georgiev stopped 16 of 20 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens.

Georgiev is winless in his last six outings (0-5-0), and he's given up at least four goals in four of those games. The 28-year-old netminder at least kept this one close, but Joel Armia's shorthanded tally late in the third period was decisive in favor of the Canadiens. Georgiev is now 10-18-0 with a 3.66 GAA and a .875 save percentage over 32 outings. He may have an easier time getting starts now that Yaroslav Askarov is back with AHL San Jose and Vitek Vanecek has recovered from a facial injury, but Georgiev's performance is tough to stomach in fantasy. The Sharks' next game is at home versus the Canucks on Thursday.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Facing Montreal

Georgiev will defend the home cage against the Canadiens on Tuesday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.

Georgiev concluded January with a 1-6-0 record, .886 save percentage and 3.93 GAA across eight outings. The 28-year-old has just two wins with the Sharks since being acquired in a trade from Colorado on Dec. 9. Montreal lost the first contest of its three-game West Coast road trip 3-2 to Anaheim on Sunday.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Steady in relief

Georgiev stopped 20 of 22 shots in relief of Yaroslav Askarov in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Kraken.

The Kraken didn't relent after the swap, but Georgiev was more effective in this contest. It's the first time in six appearances he's allowed fewer than three goals, though all of the previous outings in that span were starts. The 28-year-old remains at a 10-17-0 record with a 3.64 GAA and an .877 save percentage. Since Askarov has been slumping, Georgiev could be back in a goaltending tandem with Vitek Vanecek (face) by the time the Sharks face the Canadiens on Tuesday.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Chased by champs

Georgiev stopped 11 of 15 shots in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Panthers.

Georgiev exited the game after A.J. Greer's goal, which came early in the second period, but Yaroslav Askarov didn't stop the bleeding. Georgiev has lost four straight outings, allowing 17 goals on 119 shots in that ugly span. He's now 10-17-0 with a 3.65 GAA and an .876 save percentage through 30 appearances. The 28-year-old will have a tough time turning things around in San Jose, so he's best left off most fantasy rosters.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Starting vs. Panthers

Georgiev will guard the home net Saturday against Florida, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Georgiev will look to get back on track after dropping his last three starts, struggling to an .875 save percentage in that span. It won't come easy against a Panthers team that's averaging 3.16 goals per game this season.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Allows six goals Tuesday

Georgiev stopped 34 of 40 shots in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Predators. The seventh goal was an empty-netter in the final period.

Georgiev was making his fourth start across San Jose's last five games, and he was tagged with the loss for the third outing in a row. Even though the 34 saves represented his second-highest output of the campaign, the fact that he allowed six goals erases every single high statistical output he might have accomplished. Over his last four starts, Georgiev has gone 1-3-0 with a 4.04 GAA and a .879 save percentage.

Georgiev will defend the road net against Nashville on Tuesday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Georgiev will get the second half of San Jose's back-to-back after Yaroslav Askarov played in Monday's 6-3 loss to Boston. • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Tagged with another loss Saturday

Georgiev surrendered four goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders.

This game appeared to be trending toward a low-scoring affair after the opening stanza, but the Islanders blitzed Georgiev for three goals in the middle frame. He conceded all four tallies at even strength. The 28-year-old has allowed 15 goals on 159 shots (.906 save percentage) through five appearances in January, going 1-4-0 in that span. Georgiev's won just two of 10 starts with San Jose since being acquired in a trade from Colorado on Dec. 9. Overall, he has a 10-15-0 record, .880 save percentage and 3.45 GAA split between both clubs in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Slated to start Saturday

Georgiev was the first goaltender off the ice at morning practice, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports, and is expected to guard the visiting crease against the Islanders on Saturday.

Georgiev will make his third consecutive start on the current road trip. The former Avalanche netminder is 2-7-0 with a 3.51 GAA and an .890 save percentage over nine starts since his trade to San Jose on Dec. 9. The Islanders are 27th in NHL scoring, averaging 2.61 goals per game this season.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Gets little help in loss

Georgiev stopped 30 of 33 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jackets, with Columbus' final goal getting scored into an empty net.

The Jackets scored twice in the first period due to a few defensive breakdowns by the Sharks, and the offense wasn't able to dig out of the early hole. Georgiev has started four of the last five games, going 1-3-0 with a 2.80 GAA and .914 save percentage, and San Jose may be showcasing the 28-year-old -- he becomes a free agent this summer, and Yaroslav Askarov is the team's goalie of the future -- ahead of the March 7 trade deadline.

Georgiev will tend the twine on the road against Columbus on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Georgiev snapped a six-game losing streak Tuesday against Detroit, and he'll attempt to stay hot in his second consecutive start Thursday. The 28-year-old has made eight starts since joining San Jose, going 2-6-0 with a 3.57 GAA and .887 save percentage. He'll have a tough test Thursday, as the Blue Jackets rank fifth in the NHL with 3.36 goals per game.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Gets second win with new team

Georgiev made 25 saves in a 6-3 win over Detroit on Tuesday.

It was just his second win in eight starts in San Jose. Georgiev has been a workhorse over the past few years, but the wheels have come completely off his game. He's 10-13-0 in 25 starts with a combined 3.44 GAA and .879 save percentage. Start Georgiev at your own peril.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: In goal against Detroit

Georgiev will protect the road crease Tuesday against the Red Wings, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.

Georgiev allowed less than three goals in a game in Friday's 2-1 loss to Utah for the first time since Dec. 7. The 28-year-old is mired in a six-game losing streak, and it won't get any easier against one of the hottest teams in the NHL on Tuesday. Detroit has won seven consecutive games and has lost only once since Todd McLellan took over as head coach Dec. 27.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Loses it late Friday

Georgiev gave up two goals on 26 shots in Friday's 2-1 loss to Utah.

Georgiev's losing streak reached six games Friday, but this was his best performance during the skid. The 28-year-old gave up a goal to Barrett Hayton with 1:32 left in the third period, which was the difference. Georgiev is now 9-13-0 with a 3.46 GAA and an .878 save percentage over 25 appearances this season. Yaroslav Askarov is set to start at home versus the Wild on Saturday, and Georgiev could find himself on the bench more often until he gets back into the win column.

Georgiev will be between the visiting pipes in Utah on Friday, according to Max Miller of NHL.com.

Georgiev won his first start with San Jose after his trade from Colorado in December and promptly lost his next five games. The 28-year-old netminder has ceded his spot as the No. 1 goaltender to Yaroslav Askarov with the Sharks. Georgiev is 9-12-0 in 24 appearances split between Colorado and Utah, allowing 76 goals on 615 shots (.876 save percentage). Utah is tallying 2.85 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Alexandar Georgiev: Falls to Vegas

Georgiev stopped 38 of 41 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Georgiev watched from the bench for the previous two games as Yaroslav Askarov defeated the Lightning and the Devils. The 28-year-old Georgiev couldn't keep things going for the Sharks, taking his fifth straight loss, though this was the first time he gave up fewer than four goals in that span. The veteran netminder is now 9-12-0 with a 3.53 GAA and an .876 save percentage through 24 appearances. If Askarov keeps playing well, Georgiev could find himself in the backup role and potentially even in danger of being scratched on occasion once Vitek Vanecek (face) is ready to return.
