Nuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nuggets add around him
The Nuggets added another playmaker with the signing of DeMar DeRozan on Friday to pair alongside Jokic to help handle the offensive pressure in 2026-27.
Jokic averaged a triple-double for the second straight season in 2025-26, though it's possible the addition of DeRozan slightly cuts into his ball-handling responsibilities. Regardless, the presence of DeRozan, a six-time All-Star, as opposed to the more defensive-minded Peyton Watson, should aid Jokic's efficiency as well as his ability to find open looks all around the court in 2026-27.

Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Denver adds another playmaker
The Nuggets signed DeMar DeRozan on Friday, giving Murray another competitor for usage in 2026-27.
There could be a tighter squeeze for usage in Denver this season, as DeRozan is effectively replacing the more defensive-minded Peyton Watson on the roster. Murray should remain the team's clear-cut No. 2 scoring option behind Nikola Jokic, but it remains to be seen if the addition of DeRozan, who should compete for a starting job during training camp, will adversely impact Murray's productivity.

Nuggets' Lonnie Walker: Set to battle for bench role
Walker has a chance to compete for a bench role at training camp after Denver shipped Peyton Watson to the Cavaliers.
Walker is returning to the States in 2026-27 after playing in the EuroLeague last season, but it remains to be seen if he'll be part of the Nuggets' Opening Night rotation. He'll be battling primarily with rookie Alpha Diallo for playing time as a reserve this year, as Watson's exit creates a significant void for Denver.

Nuggets' Spencer Jones: Could play expanded role
Jones should open the new year in a significant role for the Nuggets after Peyton Watson was dealt to the Cavaliers.
The Nuggets made an effort to keep Jones this offseason, matching the Thunder's two-year, $12 million offer sheet, and the forward should occupy a key reserve role off the bench now that Watson is out of the mix. Jones made 64 regular-season appearances (37 starts) in 2025-26, averaging 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.8 steals in 22.1 minutes per game.

Nuggets' Aaron Gordon: Set for big role again
Gordon (calf) could see more usage for Denver in 2026-27 after Peyton Watson was shipped to Cleveland.
Much like teammates Christian Braun and Cameron Johnson, Gordon experienced an injury-plagued 2025-26 campaign but maintained strong productivity when healthy. Gordon averaged 16.2 points, his most since his time with Orlando, 5.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 three-pointers in 27.9 minutes per game over 36 regular-season appearances, and Watson's departure presents one less obstacle for usage.

Nuggets' Cameron Johnson: Role solidified for 2026-27
Johnson looks to be solidified as a starter for Denver in 2026-27 after Peyton Watson was dealt to Cleveland.
Johnson's debut season with Denver may have been a disappointment, but he still started all 54 of his regular-season appearances. The 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 2.0 three-pointers per game he averaged were his lowest since his days with the Suns, but Johnson did shoot a career-high 43.0 percent from deep last year and should continue to find plenty of open looks playing alongside Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

Nuggets' Christian Braun: Locked in as starter
Braun appears cemented as a starter for the Nuggets in 2026-27 after Peyton Watson was traded to Cleveland.
Despite playing a career-low 44 regular-season games, Braun was a full-time starter last year and should be locked into a similar role this season. The swingman is searching for a bounce-back campaign, closing last regular season with averages of 12.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 31.8 minutes per game.

Nuggets' Julian Strawther: Opportunity for larger role
Strawther could play an expanded role for the Nuggets in 2026-27 after Peyton Watson was traded to the Cavaliers.
Strawther is still ticketed for a bench role this season, even with Watson now out of the picture, but his playing time could be more consistent after finishing last postseason outside the rotation. The sharpshooter averaged 7.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 three-pointers in 15.1 minutes per game over 57 regular-season appearances in 2025-26.

Nuggets' Julian Reese: Headed to Denver
The Wizards traded Reese to the Nuggets on Wednesday, and he's expected to be waived by Denver, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
It appears Reese will head to free agency once this trade is finalized. Over 13 games with the Wizards last season, Reese averaged 11.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Nuggets' Lonnie Walker: Inks pact with Denver
Walker agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Nuggets on Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
After spending the 2025-26 season in the EuroLeague with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Walker is returning stateside on a one-year pact with the Nuggets. The 2018 first-round pick owns career averages of 10.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists across seven NBA seasons. He's slated to serve as wing depth off the bench for Denver during the 2026-27 campaign.
