Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Completes side session Friday
Sasaki (finger) indicated that he felt good following a bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.
The Dodgers placed Sasaki on the injured list Aug. 27, one day after he developed a blister on his right middle finger during a start in Atlanta. He'll be eligible for activation Sept. 11, and Sasaki looks like he could be on pace to return that day. Sasaki will still likely need to complete at least one throwing session against live hitters before the Dodgers reinstate him.

Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Placed on IL
The Dodgers placed Sasaki on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a blister on his right middle finger.
Sasaki had a nice seven-game stretch with a 2.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP prior to taking a no-decision in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta. He surrendered four runs to Atlanta as he developed the blister, which has now sent him to the injured list. In a corresponding move Thursday, the Dodgers recalled Seth Halvorsen from Triple-A Oklahoma City while Eric Lauer will take over Sasaki's rotation spot.

Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Bound for injured list
Manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta that Sasaki will be placed on the injured list after sustaining a blister on his right middle finger, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Sasaki exited in the fourth inning of his start after developing the blister, and the team has already determined that the issue is severe enough to warrant a trip to the IL. The right-hander took a no-decision Wednesday, striking out three while allowing four earned runs on six hits and two walks across 3.1 innings. Rather than moving forward with a five-man rotation, the Dodgers will shift Eric Lauer back into the rotation to fill in as the team's sixth starter until Sasaki returns, per Harris.

Sasaki allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Wednesday.
Sasaki didn't give up any homers, but four of the hits he allowed were doubles, one of which plated two runs in the fourth inning. The Japanese righty has a 34:13 K:BB over his last 35 innings and has allowed just 10 runs (nine earned) in that span. The walk rate (3.6 BB/9) remains a concern, but Sasaki has found some success with limiting damage lately. He's at a 4.42 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 114:46 K:BB through 116 innings over 22 starts on the year. The right-hander's next outing is projected to be at Atlanta.

Sasaki allowed two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out two over six innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Thursday.
While it was Sasaki's third quality start in his last four outings, the five walks matched his season high. He's given up just eight runs (seven earned) over his last 30 innings while adding a 28:12 K:BB in that span. Overall, Sasaki is at a 4.46 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 108:45 K:BB through 111 innings over 21 starts this season. His next outing is projected to be on the road in Colorado, which could be trouble given that he's allowed 21 home runs this season.

Sasaki earned his third quality start over his last five appearances, though he wasn't able to pick up a third straight win. During this strong stretch, he's allowed nine runs (eight earned) over 30 innings with a 31:8 K:BB. Sasaki is now at a 4.54 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 106:40 K:BB through 105 innings over 20 starts this year. There's some real strikeout upside here despite the pedestrian ratios. His next start is expected to be at home versus the Brewers, which will provide a measuring stick for his recent success.

Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Continues turnaround
Sasaki (5-5) earned the win over Seattle on Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings.
Sasaki looked dominant for most of the outing, as he racked up 18 whiffs and kept the Mariners out of the scoring column through five frames. However, the right-hander ran out of steam in the sixth, when he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while retiring just one batter. Fortunately for Sasaki and the Dodgers, Jack Dreyer came on in relief and closed the inning without allowing any additional damage. That kept Sasaki in line for the win, which was his second straight victory following an eight-outing winless stretch. It's been an up-and-down campaign for the Japanese hurler, but he's closed July on a high note, posting a 2.25 ERA with a 26:7 K:BB over 24 innings spanning his past four starts. He's lined up to make his next appearance on the road against the Cubs.
