Dodgers' Zach Penrod: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Dodgers outrighted Penrod to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.
Penrod cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization. The lefty has a 4.85 ERA with a 7:13 K:BB over 13 innings at Oklahoma City since being acquired via trade from the Red Sox in late June.

Dodgers' Zach Penrod: Shipped to champs
The Red Sox traded Penrod to the Dodgers on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Penrod was designated for assignment by Boston on Sunday, but he'll get a fresh start with the Dodgers. The 28-year-old has spent the entire 2025 campaign in the minor leagues. He's only thrown 6.1 innings at Triple-A Worcester after spending around two months on the injured list due to a UCL sprain. Penrod logged a 2.25 ERA in four big-league innings in 2024. Per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Red Sox got cash in return.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Dropped from 40-man roster
The Red Sox designated Penrod for assignment Sunday.
Penrod will now be exposed to waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he'll likely remain in the organization with Triple-A Worcester. The left-hander has posted a 5.68 ERA and 2.05 WHIP with seven strikeouts over 7.1 innings in six appearances with Worcester this season. The transaction makes room for left-hander Kyle Harrison and right-hander Jordan Hicks (toe) on Boston's 40-man roster after the team dealt designated hitter Rafael Devers to the Giants on Sunday.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Activated, optioned to WooSox
Penrod (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday and optioned to Triple-A Worcester, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Penrod opened the year on the IL with a left elbow UCL sprain and he was activated after one scoreless rehab appearance Saturday in the Florida Complex League. The 27-year-old lefty will knock some rust off at Triple-A before potentially being an option in the majors later this summer.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Goes on 60-day injured list
The Red Sox placed Penrod on the 60-day injured list Thursday with a left elbow UCL sprain, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
The move clears a spot on Boston's 40-man roster. Penrod is attempting to rest and rehab his injury rather than undergoing surgery, but it will be months before he can pitch in a game, even in a best-case scenario.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Doesn't need surgery
Penrod isn't expected to need surgery on his injured left elbow, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Penrod has been dealing with a sore left elbow and got an MRI on Thursday. The results of the test were encouraging, as the lefty reliever doesn't appear to be slated to go under the knife. However, manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Penrod will be "out a while," which could impact his chances of making the Opening Day bullpen.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Gets MRI on elbow
Penrod is dealing with a sore left elbow and was sent in for an MRI on Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
The Red Sox will wait on the results of the MRI before a prognosis is made available, but at the very least, Penrod will likely be shut down for a few days. The 27-year-old southpaw made seven appearances in relief for Boston last September and is competing for a spot in the big club's Opening Day bullpen.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Sent down Sunday
Penrod was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.
The 27-year-old lefty split the majority of his season between Double-A and Triple-A, establishing himself as a fringe prospect despite his age. Control was an issue for Penrod at Triple-A (16.1 percent walk rate), and he walked four batters in four innings while up with the big club.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Up from Triple-A
The Red Sox selected Penrod's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
After starting the season at Double-A Portland, Penrod will now get his first taste of the big leagues. The 27-year-old southpaw owns a 5.93 ERA and 1.70 WHIP through 27.1 innings at Triple-A, however, so he will likely be limited to low-leverage situations while with the Red Sox.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Fans seven in return
Penrod allowed two runs on three hits and struck out seven over 2.2 innings for Triple-A Worcester on Friday.
Penrod, who had been sidelined since June 6 with a leg injury, started for the WooSox but was not given a long leash in his return. He fanned six of the first seven hitters faced before allowing runs in his third and final frame. The 27-year-old left-hander, whom the Red Sox signed out of independent ball last season, could be a bullpen option for Boston down the stretch.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Coming off IL on Friday
Penrod (shin) will return from Triple-A Worcester's 7-day injured list to start Friday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
A 27-year-old lefty whom the Red Sox signed out of independent ranks last August, Penrod had been one of the organization's better upper-level starters before he landed on the IL on June 9 with left shin inflammation. He'll slot back into the Worcester rotation this weekend, but since he didn't head out on a rehab assignment beforehand, he could be limited from a workload standpoint in his return to the mound. Penrod has turned in a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB across 43.1 innings between Worcester and Double-A Portland this season.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Dealing with shin injury
Penrod was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Worcester due to left shin inflammation Sunday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Penrod will be forced to miss a week of action with what the Red Sox are hopeful will be a "short-term" shin issue. The left-hander has made two starts with Worcester after being promoted in late May, producing a 3.38 ERA with eight strikeouts over eight innings.

Red Sox's Zach Penrod: Moving up to Triple-A
The Red Sox promoted Penrod from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
The 26-year-old was pitching in independent ball while contemplating retirement a year ago, but he's revitalized his career since joining Boston on a minor-league deal last August. After impressing in four starts with High-A Greenville late last season, Penrod continued his success while moving up to Portland to begin the currenet season. After striking out nine over five innings in his final outing for Portland on Friday, Penrod wrapped up his time in the Eastern League with a 2.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 37.1 percent strikeout rate over 35.1 innings.
