Gray has been shelved for all of September with right elbow inflammation, but he'll go back directly onto the active roster without having made a rehab appearance. The rookie reliever has pitched well out of the Texas bullpen this season, logging a 3.93 ERA and 58:16 K:BB over 55 innings.

Texas placed Gray on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right elbow inflammation.
The 31-year-old has struggled over his last 15 appearances out of the Texas bullpen, registering a 5.17 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB through 15.2 innings. The Rangers recalled Robby Ahlstrom from Triple-A Round Rock to replace Gray in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster.

Gray (5-0) earned the win Friday against the Mariners after pitching a scoreless sixth inning, allowing one hit and striking out two. He did not issue a walk.
Gray entered the game in the sixth inning, and while he gave up a single to Cole Young, he closed out the inning by striking out Luke Raley and Colt Emerson. Gray needed just 14 pitches (12 strikes) to complete the frame, and the 31-year-old right-hander has been pitching well of late. He's held the opposition scoreless in six of his nine relief appearances this month, including each of the last three.

Gray entered the game in the sixth inning and did not allow a single hitter to reach base. Gray seems to be turning things around of late, as he's given up just one earned run over his last four outings while posting a 7:0 K:BB in 4.1 innings in that stretch. That represents a huge bounce-back after he gave up nine runs (five earned) over a two-game stretch against the Astros and Rockies between May 18 and May 25.
