Rosario will start at second base and bat second in Thursday's game against Atlanta.
Rosario will draw a third consecutive start out of the Washington infield, but his run of regular playing time will likely come to an end during this weekend's series in Baltimore. Luis Garcia (personal) is expected to be activated from the paternity list Friday and should take back an everyday role at second base, leaving Rosario to fend with Jose Tena for playing time at third base.

Rosario went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Guardians.
Getting the start at third base against southpaw Logan Allen and batting second, Rosario produced his second three-hit effort in his last three games. Rosario went 3-for-6 with a home run, a double and four RBI in an 11-6 win against the Reds on Saturday.
Rosario doubled home a run in the fourth inning and later recorded the biggest hit for the Nationals, cracking a three-run home run in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. The long ball was the second of the season for the veteran infielder -- the other came in his season debut March 29. Rosario's performance Saturday was also his first multi-hit effort since April 5. In between, he batted just .200 over 40 at-bats.

Rosario was a late scratch from the lineup for Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros after his knee "didn't feel right" while taking part in defensive drills prior to the contest, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Shortly before first pitch, the Nationals pulled Rosario from the lineup in favor of Cayden Wallace, who started at second base and batted eighth. Rosario suggested that the knee injury was minor, noting that he would have been able to play if it was a regular-season game.

Nationals' Amed Rosario: Gets one-year deal with Nats
The Nationals signed Rosario to a one-year, $2 million contract Wednesday.
All four of the Nationals' projected starting infielders bat left-handed, so the right-handed-hitting Rosario is a nice fit as someone who should play regularly against lefty pitchers. The 29-year-old sports a career .298/.337/.460 batting line versus southpaws and slashed .294/.325/.412 against them in 2024.

Reds' Amed Rosario: Exits 40-man roster
The Reds designated Rosario for assignment Monday.
The team needed to make a couple 40-man roster moves in order to activate two players from the 60-day injured list. Rosario is set to be a free agent this offseason, so this will simply allow him to reach the market a few days earlier. He hit .280/.306/.380 with three homers and 13 steals for the Rays, Dodgers and Reds in 2024.

Rosario is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.
After a recent stretch of 10 starts in an 11-game span, Rosario now finds himself on the bench for the second straight day, with both absences coming against right-handed pitchers. Though Rosario looked to be gaining traction as the Reds' primary designated hitter, the team has seemingly pulled the plug on using him as an everyday player while he's managed a lowly .184/.216/.245 slash line since being claimed off waivers from the Dodgers on Aug. 18. The Reds may instead prefer to rotate a number of players at the DH spot rather than giving consistent at-bats to the struggling Rosario.

Where may be useful is in steals; the utility infielder has swiped three bags in 16 games for Cincinnati and 13 for the season.
