  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Records 12 touches in loss

Sanders rushed 11 times for 42 yards and brought in his only target for four yards in the Browns' 23-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday.

Quinshon Judkins exited the game in the second quarter with what was eventually diagnosed as a broken fibula and dislocated ankle, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Sanders finished as the team leader in rush attempts. Backfield mate Trayveon Williams operated more as a change-of-pace option, and although Judkins will naturally miss the final two games of the season, Sanders and Williams could be joined by Dylan Sampson, who logged a second straight absence due to calf and hand injuries, for a Week 17 home matchup against the Steelers next Sunday, which would muddy the outlook for all three backs to a degree.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Activated but does not play

Sanders was added to the active roster but did not play in Sunday's 31-3 loss to the Bears in Week 15.

Sanders was poised to pick up some opportunities for the first time since the season opener, as both Dylan Sampson (calf) and Jerome Ford (shoulder) were unavailable, but it was the newly signed Trayveon Williams who served as the top backup to Quinshon Judkins. It speaks volumes that Sanders, who has been with the team all season and is familiar with the playbook, did not get on the field.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Inactive Sunday

Sanders (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Raiders.

Sanders hasn't played since the Browns' Week 1 loss to the Bengals, where he rushed three times on three snaps. The team will go with a three-man backfield with Quinshon Judkins, Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson again.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Healthy scratch again

Sanders (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Sanders played three snaps on offense during the Browns' season-opening loss to the Bengals but has not seen the field since. The Browns will go with a three-man backfield of Quinshon Judkins, Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson again.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Healthy scratch vs. Pittsburgh

Sanders (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

The undrafted rookie played three snaps on offense during the Browns' Week 1 loss to the Bengals but has not played since. The Browns will go with a three-man backfield of Quinshon Judkins, Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson for Sunday's AFC North tilt.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Sitting out in Week 2

Sanders (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens.

Sanders suited up as the Browns' No. 3 running back in the team's 17-16 loss to the Bengals in the season opener and was able to make an impact in his limited snaps, finishing with three yards and a touchdown on three carries. However, with rookie second-round pick Quinshon Judkins (not injury related) having been reinstated from the commissioner's exempt list and added back to the 53-man roster after turning in full practices Thursday and Friday, Sanders will slide to fourth on the depth chart at running back and won't dress Sunday. Unless the Browns lose Judkins, Jerome Ford or Dylan Sampson to an injury in a given week, inactive statuses could start to become the norm for Sanders, an undrafted rookie out of South Carolina.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: In line to be active

Sanders could be part of the active roster for Week 2 against the Ravens due to the unsettled status of Quinshon Judkins, who is still on the Commissioner's Exempt List.

Sanders, who was active in the 17-16 loss to the Bengals in Week 1, played only three snaps, but one of those was a one-yard touchdown plunge. He finished the game with three carries (two in the red zone) for three yards. Judkins missed all of the preseason and didn't sign a contract until the day prior to the season opener. He got on the practice field Thursday for the first time since mandatory minicamp in June and may not be up to speed for Sunday's game at Baltimore. The Browns were granted a two-week roster exemption for Judkins, so he won't count toward the roster if he remains held out Week 2.

  • Browns' Raheim Sanders: Scooped up by Cleveland

The Browns claimed Sanders off waivers from the Chargers on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The undrafted rookie out of South Carolina failed to make the cut with the Chargers, but he now gets a second NFL opportunity in short order. The Browns let go Pierre Strong on Tuesday, leaving the team with only Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson on the roster as backfield options. Quinshon Judkins remains unsigned and is uncertain to be available for Week 1, likely setting up a timeshare between Ford and Sampson. An injury could quickly thrust Sanders into playing time if he manages to stick around with Cleveland for at least a few weeks.

  • Raheim Sanders: Cut by Los Angeles

Sanders was waived by the Chargers on Tuesday.

Sanders signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent in April, ultimately putting together an impressive preseason. The running back turned 28 carries into 101 yards and two scores, while also adding five catches for 29 yards and a 21-yard kickoff return over three contests. If he clears waivers, Sanders appears to be a strong candidate to hang around as a member of the Chargers' practice squad.

  • Chargers' Raheim Sanders: Set to sign with Chargers

Sanders signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent.

Sanders started out at Arkansas as a wide receiver but moved to running back as a sophomore and quickly found his groove, piling up 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. His production cooled off during his senior season at South Carolina, where he posted 881 yards and 11 touchdowns on 183 carries (4.81 YPC) in addition to 27 receptions for 316 yards and two scores. Sanders joins a crowded backfield with no clear No. 3 option behind Najee Harris and first-round pick Omarion Hampton, providing a viable path to a roster spot in Los Angeles.
