Laurent Duvernay-Tardif: Hangs up cleats
Duvernay-Tardif announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Duvernay-Tardif played five games for the Jets last season and was a free agent at the time of his announcement. The 32-year-old spent the first six seasons of his career with the Chiefs, starting 57 games for them at right guard after being selected in the sixth round of the 2014 Draft. He stepped away from football in 2020, opting out of his contract to work as an orderly at a long-term care facility in Canada. He ultimately returned to the NFL, signing with the Jets in 2021 and then again returning with them in 2022 after he completed a residency program at a Montreal-area hospital.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif: Finds new home
Duvernay-Tardif signed with the Jets' practice squad Thursday, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
Duvernay-Tardif announced in June he was pausing his NFL career to begin a residency program at a Montreal-area hospital. With his residency completed, he now returns to the team he played with last season and started seven games for. The 31-year-old will work to earn his way onto the active roster.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif: Pausing NFL career
Duvernay-Tardif announced Wednesday that he's pausing his NFL career to begin a residency program at a Montreal-area hospital, the Associated Press reports.
Duvernay-Tardif became a free agent in March after starting seven games for the Jets last season, and he's now opted to continue his career in medicine. The 31-year-old stressed that he's not retiring from football but is simply stepping away for now, and he could still end up seeing the field in 2022.

Duvernay-Tardif (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday.
Duvernay-Tardif tested positive for COVID last week but has cleared the health and safety protocols. He should return to his starting spot at right guard Sunday versus Tampa Bay.

Duvernay-Tardif (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Duvernay-Tardif has tested positive for the virus, though he'll still have the chance to suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Jaguars assuming he's vaccinated. Duvernay-Tardif has served as New York's starting right guard since Week 10 after being traded by the Chiefs earlier in the season.
