Royals' Maikel Garcia: Reaches three times in loss
Garcia went 2-for-2 with a stolen base, a walk and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Astros.
Garcia singled and stole second in his first trip to the plate, and he was later thrown out while attempting to swipe a second bag after drawing a walk in the fifth. The third baseman has hit safely in four straight games, batting .500 (7-for-14) with three RBI, four runs and three stolen bases. Garcia has also logged multiple hits in three of his last six games.

Royals' Maikel Garcia: Back on bench Wednesday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Garcia had picked up starts at either second base or third base in each of the last five games, going 6-for-19 with a home run, a double, two stolen bases and a walk during that stretch. The Royals faced left-handed starters in three of those contests, so Garcia may still be stuck in a part-time role in the Kansas City infield. With right-hander Tanner Bibee on the bump for the Guardians on Wednesday, Royals manager Matt Quatraro will go with Michael Massey at second base and Paul DeJong at third base.

Royals' Maikel Garcia: Three hits in nightcap
Garcia went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in a 9-4 win over the Guardians in the second game of Monday's doubleheader.
Garcia went hitless in the matinee, which was the fourth time in five contests he had been held without a hit. The infielder bounced back in the nightcap, earning his first three-hit effort since he had four knocks May 21 versus the Tigers. Garcia is now at a .238/.285/.347 slash line with seven home runs, 23 doubles, a career-high 51 RBI, 81 runs scored and 30 stolen bases through 128 contests. He'll continue to split time between second base and third base, though Garcia is not guaranteed an everyday spot in the lineup.

Garcia's homer was his first since July 7. Over 35 contests between long balls, the infielder hit .250 and added seven doubles, six RBI, 25 runs scored and nine stolen bases. He's still in the lineup more often than not, but the Royals have also deployed Paul DeJong at third base and Michael Massey and Adam Frazier at second base on occasion. Garcia is slashing .236/.284/.344 with seven homers, 30 steals, 50 RBI and 79 runs scored over 126 games this season.

Royals' Maikel Garcia: On bench again
Garcia is absent from the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.
Garcia is out of the lineup for a second consecutive game, a curious development considering the Royals had a team off day Thursday. It's unclear if Garcia is battling an injury, but this will be the first time the 24-year-old has sat in back-to-back games this season.

Royals' Maikel Garcia: Joins 30-steal club
Garcia went 0-for-1 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Twins.
Garcia entered the game as a pinch runner in the seventh inning and wreaked havoc on the basepaths by stealing second and third. He then scored on a Vinnie Pasquantino double. The pair of steals give Garcia 30 thefts on 31 attempts this season, the first time he's reached that milestone. He's added a mediocre .236/.284/.341 slash line with six home runs, 48 RBI, 74 runs scored, 21 doubles and five triples over 118 contests. While he's no longer starting on an everyday basis, Garcia is firmly ahead of Paul DeJong for playing time at third base.

Royals' Maikel Garcia: Picks up 28th steal
Garcia went 1-for-5 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Cardinals.
Garcia has gone 9-for-37 (.243) over nine contests in August, adding three doubles and three steals this month. The infielder is up to 28 thefts on 29 attempts this year after swiping a bag following his RBI single in the seventh inning. Garcia is at a .238/.287/.345 slash line, six home runs, 48 RBI, 73 runs scored, 21 doubles and five triples over 115 contests. While he's still been able to make an impact on the basepaths, he's gotten on base at a .258 clip since the start of June, which continues to limit his effectiveness in fantasy since he hasn't displayed much power.
