Ryan benefitted from a big offensive performance by Minnesota's offense, which put up nine runs while the right-hander was in the game. Though he was dinged for five extra-base hits (two homers and three doubles), Ryan kept the damage -- and his pitch count -- reasonable enough to emerge with his second victory across his past three starts. The veteran hurler also finished with exactly nine strikeouts for the third straight outing after maxing out at seven punchouts through his first 10 starts of the season. Ryan ran into some trouble right out of the gate, allowing a leadoff double to Jackson Chourio, who later came around to score on a single from William Contreras. Ryan was able to quickly regain his composure on the mound afterward, allowing just three batters to reach base and no more runs to score through the sixth inning. Now with three quality starts in his last four outings, the 29-year-old righty will aim to extend his hot streak next week when he faces an Astros lineup that's posted a .654 OPS since the beginning of May.

After leaving his last start early with elbow soreness, the All-Star right-hander looked no worse for wear Saturday. Ryan threw a season-high 107 pitches (66 strikes), and, excluding his most recent injury-shortened outing, pitched at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer for the third time in his past four appearances. He'll carry a strong 3.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB over 44.2 innings into a tough assignment against the Brewers in his next scheduled start.
Ryan (elbow) is listed as the Twins' scheduled starting pitcher for Saturday's game in Cleveland, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Ryan threw only nine pitches in his last outing Sunday against the Blue Jays before being removed due to right elbow soreness. After an MRI returned negative, Ryan was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and he must have gotten through that workout without issue in order to be cleared to start Saturday. Ryan has collected a 3.72 ERA and 40:10 K:BB over 38.2 innings this season.
Ryan underwent an MRI on his right elbow after exiting his start in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays, but the Twins are still waiting on the results of his imaging before determining his next steps, MLB.com reports.
Ryan joined the team in Washington, D.C. on Monday for the start of its six-game road trip, so the Twins seemingly aren't closing the door on the right-hander making his next turn through the rotation, which will come up Saturday in Cleveland. The right-hander struck out Yohendrick Pinango to start the game and then walked Kazuma Okamoto, after which Ryan signaled to the dugout and exited the contest with training staff. His final pitch was a 90.9-mph fastball, which is nearly two ticks slower than his average fastball velocity (92.6 mph) in the early going this season. The nature of the injury isn't clear, but Ryan's availability for his next turn through the rotation is now in question.
Ryan (2-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Mariners, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings.
Ryan was effective for most of the outing, limiting Seattle to just three hits through the first five innings. In the sixth, back-to-back hits led to a run on a Josh Naylor RBI single, and after returning for the seventh the right-hander allowed a leadoff double that forced his exit and the runner later came around to score. Ryan scuffled from the outset, giving up a three-run homer to Brett Baty in the first inning. He gave up three more runs in the second, though a passed ball on a strikeout led to all three runs being unearned.
