Castillo's failed to get through five frames in any of his last four starts -- he's given up 17 earned runs on 30 hits in just 15.1 innings during that span. The 33-year-old's ERA is up to 5.57 across 126 innings between the White Sox and Mariners this season. He's tentatively lined up to face the Pirates at home his next time out.

Castillo gave up multiple homers for a third consecutive start, and he's also failed to complete five innings in any of those outings. He's made five starts since joining the White Sox at the trade deadline, and the numbers have been less than impressive -- he owns a 6.45 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 2.8 HR/9 across 22.1 innings over that stretch. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Astros.

For the second consecutive start, Castillo did not have his best stuff and failed to make it through five innings. The 33-year-old gave up multiple long balls for the seventh time out of 24 appearances this season. The trade-deadline acquisition has not had the ideal start to his White Sox career, posting just one quality start through his first four outings while owning a 5.89 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB in 18.1 innings.

Castillo wasn't able to build on his dominant performance last time out, with the right-hander serving up two homers in the first inning and failing to complete five frames. In three starts since joining the White Sox, the 33-year-old has posted a 4.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB across 15.2 innings. In total, Castillo owns a 4-9 record with a 4.99 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 102:36 K:BB across 115.1 innings (23 outings) and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Mets.

Castillo stumbled with five runs allowed over four innings against the Red Sox in his White Sox debut, but he took advantage of a more favorable matchup in his second start with his new team. The 10 strikeouts were easily a season high for the veteran right-hander. His two longest starts of the year have come against the Reds -- he also tossed seven innings against them in his penultimate start as a Mariner. For the year, Castillo is sporting a 4.96 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 101:35 K:BB through 110.2 innings over 22 games (19 starts). He's lined up to make his next start on the north side of Chicago against the Cubs next week.

After holding Boston hitless through his first two innings, Castillo gave up a two-run homer to Connor Wong in the third before surrendering three runs in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5. It's certainly wasn't the ideal White Sox debut for Castillo, who struggled to a 6.35 ERA across 17 innings in his final three starts with the Mariners before being shipped east at the trade deadline. Through 103.2 innings this year, his ERA sits at 5.30 -- he hasn't finished a season with an ERA above 4.00 since 2018, his first full year in the majors. Castillo will look to turn things around his next time out, tentatively lined up to come at home against the Reds, the team he began his career with in 2017.
Castillo will make his White Sox debut Thursday in Boston, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
After making his final start for the Mariners on Tuesday before being dealt to the White Sox on Saturday, Castillo will be well-rested and will have some extra time to get acclimated before debuting for his new organization. A three-time All-Star, Castillo brings ample experience to the White Sox rotation, but he submitted a 5.06 ERA and 1.39 WHIP -- both career-worst marks -- over 99.2 innings for the Mariners this season. He's been especially stung by the long ball recently, surrendering seven home runs over his last three outings after giving up just two total in his eight appearances before that.
The White Sox acquired Castillo from the Mariners on Saturday in exchange for right-hander Seranthony Dominguez, outfielder Nolan Jones and catcher Boston Smith, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The 31-year-old righty will head to Chicago and bolster a rotation that's received excellent results from Davis Martin and Sean Burke but uneven production from Anthony Kay, Noah Schultz and Erick Fedde at the other three spots. While the three-time All-Star easily becomes the White Sox's most battle-tested starter, Castillo has endured a career-worst 2026 campaign. After submitting a 3.54 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 32 starts for Seattle a season ago, Castillo turned in a 5.06 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 20 appearances (17 starts) in 2026 prior to being dealt. Castillo showed signs of righting the ship in May and June, but he went 0-3 with a 5.48 ERA and 1.52 WHIP while serving up seven home runs in 23 innings over four July outings. He last pitched Tuesday, so Castillo could be ready to make his White Sox debut during the team's series in Boston early next week.
