Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Punches out 10 in third loss
Flaherty (0-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out 10.
Although he remained winless on the campaign, it was still one of Flaherty's better performances so far. The right-hander fanned a season-high 10, issued fewer than two walks for the first time this year and also pitched at least five frames while yielding two runs or fewer for just the third time in eight starts. Flaherty still has a disappointing 5.56 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 42:26 K:BB over 34 innings, but he's next set for a soft matchup against the Mets.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Struggles continue Friday
Flaherty allowed four runs on five hits across 3.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers. He walked three and struck out four.
For the third straight start, Flaherty failed to pitch at least four innings, and he has an ugly 10.00 ERA and 2.67 WHIP during this stretch. Overall, the righty has a 5.90 ERA and 1.79 WHIP, and he's already walked 25 batters across 29 innings this season. Flaherty should get the opportunity to work out of his funk, but he's hard to trust right now from a fantasy perspective. His next outing is scheduled for Wednesday at home against the Red Sox.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Rocked by Reds on Saturday
Flaherty (0-2) took the loss against Cincinnati on Saturday, surrendering six runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters over two innings.
Flaherty was staked to a 1-0 lead after half an inning, but he quickly fell behind by yielding two homers for four total runs in the bottom of the frame. The Reds got to him for another long ball in the second, and Flaherty wasn't allowed to return to the mound for the third. The three long balls were a season worst for Flaherty, who had given up just one homer over his five starts prior to Saturday. It's been an up-and-down campaign, as Flaherty holds a 5.33 ERA despite yielding one or no earned runs in three of his six outings. His next start is projected to be a home matchup versus Texas.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Loses control in no-decision
Flaherty didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Red Sox, allowing two runs (zero earned) on three hits and six walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out three.
With Monday's game having an early first-pitch time of 11:10 a.m. ET, Flaherty appeared to be a step slow on the mound. It was the third time in his career that the right-hander issued at least six walks, and the Tigers decided they'd seen enough after he threw a season-low 73 pitches (41 strikes). Flaherty has a strong 3.47 ERA through 23.1 innings, but his 1.59 WHIP and 24:20 K:BB are major causes for concern ahead of a difficult task at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park against the Reds in his next start.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Sharp again in no-decison
Flaherty did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Royals, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings.
The right-hander was dominant for much of the outing, opening the game with four strikeouts over the first two innings while needing just 25 pitches. Flaherty's only blemish came in the fifth, when back-to-back walks set up an RBI single from Kyle Isbel. After a mediocre start to the year, the 30-year-old has looked much sharper over his last two starts, allowing just two runs while striking out 13 across 11.2 innings. Flaherty has now lowered his season ERA to 4.05, but his 14 walks remain a concern, and he'll seek to keep building momentum in his next scheduled outing against Boston.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Takes no-decision Thursday
Flaherty allowed one run on five hits across 5.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Twins. He walked three and struck out six.
Flaherty dealt with his fair share of baserunners on the afternoon, but he limited the damage and ultimately had a solid outing. The only run allowed by the righty came on a Josh Bell solo homer in the fourth inning. This was Flaherty's longest start of the season so far, and he managed to lower his ERA to 5.14 in the process. He also has 14 strikeouts across 14 total innings. Flaherty is still in search of his first win of the year, and he'll look to pick that up in his next appearance, which is scheduled for Wednesday against Kansas City.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Falls short of win Saturday
Flaherty didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 11-6 win over the Cardinals, getting charged with five runs on three hits and four walks over four-plus innings. He struck out six.
Facing the team he made his big-league debut with in 2017, Flaherty was cruising with a 7-1 lead heading into the fifth inning, but he put the first four batters of the frame on base before getting the hook after 86 pitches (47 strikes). Jordan Walker then greeted reliever Drew Anderson with a grand slam, tacking three more runs onto Flaherty's ledger. The veteran right-hander has fallen short of lasting five innings in both his starts to begin the year, posting a 7.56 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 8:8 K:BB through 8.1 innings. He'll try to find some consistency in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Minnesota.

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Labors through 4.1 frames in loss
Flaherty (0-1) took the loss against San Diego on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.
Flaherty actually retired the first eight batters he faced, but he then gave up three straight singles with two outs in the third inning to allow a run to score, and another Padre crossed the plate on a subsequent fielding error. After an uneventful fourth frame, Flaherty walked three straight batters with one out in the fifth before being pulled. Overall, he tossed just 49 of 89 pitches for strikes, though much of his control issues came late in the outing. Flaherty will look for better results his next time on the mound, which is tentatively slated to be next Saturday at home against St. Louis.
