Bulls' Buddy Hield: On the move again to Chicago
The Bulls acquired Hield (and cash) from the Hornets on Saturday in exchange for Rob Dillingham, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Hield was recently traded to Charlotte on Tuesday but is on the move again to Chicago. The 33-year-old has spent time with the Pelicans, Kings, Pacers, 76ers, Warriors and Hawks throughout his career. In 765 regular-season appearances, Hield has averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists over 27.5 minutes per contest. He's also a career 39.5 percent shooter from deep. Hield could have a tough time earning consistent minutes with the Bulls, so his fantasy ceiling isn't very high. While he may only be used situationally, there is a small chance he will see playing time throughout the 2026-27 campaign if there are injuries.

Hornets' Buddy Hield: Dealt to Hornets
The Hawks are trading Hield, Ryan Nembhard and cash to the Hornets for Dorian Finney-Smith on Tuesday, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Hield struggled to carve out a meaningful role for Atlanta, making just seven regular-season appearances with the Hawks last year, so the move to Charlotte gives him a chance for a fresh start. The veteran sharpshooter gives the Hornets wing depth but still doesn't appear likely to have an Opening Night role.

The veteran sharpshooter's $9.7 million salary for 2026-27 was fully guaranteed by Atlanta this offseason, but his role remains uncertain on an extremely crowded Hawks roster. Hield averaged 7.6 points while making 1.0 three-pointers per game during the regular season in 2025-26, but Atlanta's collection of perimeter options could make consistent minutes difficult to come by.

Hield had his $9.66 million salary for the 2026-27 season fully guaranteed by the Hawks on Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Hield began the 2025-26 campaign in Golden State before being traded to Atlanta ahead of the deadline. In seven regular-season games with the Hawks, he averaged a career-low 5.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists across 7.3 minutes while shooting 41.2 percent from deep. It's unknown what the future holds for Hield, but he will remain in Atlanta for now. However, there is always a chance other teams in need of a reliable shooter will come calling at some point moving ahead.

Hield was back in the rotation, albeit during garbage time. Since arriving in Atlanta, Hield's role has been basically non-existent, suiting up on just six occasions. During his time on the floor, he has averaged 0.9 points and 0.9 rebounds. He can be safely ignored in all formats.

Hield (recently traded) is available for Saturday's game against the Hornets.
Hield and Jonathan Kuminga (knee) were traded by the Warriors on Wednesday in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis (Achilles). With the trade finalized, Hield is ready to make his debut for the Hawks, though he'll be competing with fellow veterans CJ McCollum and Gabe Vincent for minutes off the bench behind backcourt starters Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Hield averaged 11.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.1 threes and 1.0 steals over 20.3 minutes per game over his last nine games with Golden State.

Hield produced 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Monday's 135-112 victory over the Heat.
It's unclear how Steve Kerr will proceed without Jimmy Butler (knee), but Hield's minutes will probably jump somewhat. He's often served as a backcourt replacement, but his sharpshooting skills can also come in handy at the wing. He'll likely be a prime pivot along with De'Anthony Melton (knee) as the Warriors try to stay relevant in the Western Conference.
