  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Loses grip on rotation spot

White Sox manager Will Venable said Sunday that Fedde will be moved to the bullpen following the team's acquisition of right-hander Luis Castillo, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Rather than expanding the rotation to six or demoting struggling rookie Noah Schultz to the minors, the White Sox will instead shift Fedde to a long relief role. Fedde had been part of the rotation all season but 10 of his 22 appearances have come as a bulk reliever, so it likely won't be a big adjustment. The veteran righty has gone 6-6 with a 4.13 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 74:36 K:BB in 102.1 innings this season.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Collects sixth win of 2026

Fedde (6-6) earned the win against the Rays on Friday, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six across five innings. He did not issue a walk. Fedde generated only four whiffs and three groundouts on 91 pitches Friday, but he kept the Rays in check outside of a solo homer from Junior Caminero in the fourth inning. It was the first time since July 5 that Fedde completed five frames, and the veteran right-hander sports a 4.13 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 102.1 innings this season. He's slated to take on the Red Sox next week at Fenway Park.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Tagged for three homers

Fedde did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over 4.1 innings. Fedde was hurt by the long ball Sunday, surrendering three home runs. Jeremy Pena took him deep twice, including a leadoff blast to begin the game, while Taylor Trammell added a solo shot of his own in the fifth inning. It marked the first time since May 12 that Fedde has allowed multiple home runs in a start. After compiling a 5.40 ERA and 0-5 record through his first 11 starts, Fedde has now gone 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA over his last 10 outings. He's scheduled to make his next start Friday on the road against the Rays.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Goes four frames Monday

Fedde completed four innings in a no-decision against Texas on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out six batters. Though he didn't go very deep, Fedde was decently effective, racking up six punchouts and retiring the final eight batters he faced. The veteran right-hander has logged five or fewer frames in nine of his past 10 outings, but that approach seems to be working for him -- he's posted a 2.68 ERA while going 5-1 with a 35:15 K:BB across 43.2 innings during that span. Fedde has worked as both a traditional starter and a bulk reliever throughout the campaign, and though he doesn't have the most overpowering stuff, recent results suggest Chicago is getting the most out of the hurler by astutely managing how he is used.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Nabs win in bulk relief

Fedde (5-6) picked up the win in Saturday's 1-0 victory over the A's, allowing two hits and one walk over four scoreless innings of relief. He struck out three. Entering the game to begin the third inning after opener Bryan Hudson and Chris Murphy had worked a frame each, Fedde kept the combined shutout going over 55 pitches (33 strikes). The veteran right-hander has found success in a sheltered bulk-relief role, and since the beginning of June has delivered a 2.27 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB through 35.2 innings over eight outings.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Likely to fill bulk-relief role

Fedde is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Bryan Hudson in Saturday's game against the Athletics, Brooke Fletcher of Chicago Sports Network reports. Fedde remains part of Chicago's rotation, but he's been used as a traditional starter just once in his last six outings. Hudson is expected to cover an inning or two before turning the game over to Fedde, who owns a 4.20 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 29:17 K:BB in 40.2 innings out of the bullpen this season.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Works around trouble in fourth win

Fedde (4-6) notched the win Sunday against the Guardians, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk in 5.1 innings of relief. He struck out four. A fielding error by Colson Montgomery in the fifth inning kept an earned run off Fedde's line in the hurler's longest outing since April 29 against the Angels. The 33-year-old right-hander hasn't been particularly effective at missing bats in 2026, fanning more than four on just one occasion through 18 appearances. Fedde will bring a pedestrian 4.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 57:34 K:BB over 85 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Athletics.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Working in bulk relief Sunday

Fedde is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Chris Murphy in Sunday's game against the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. On Saturday, the Guardians lineup featured left-handed hitters or switch hitters in the top seven spots, so the White Sox will have the left-handed Murphy open the series finale with the aim of forcing Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt to adjust his batting order. Murphy will likely work the first inning or two before handing the ball over to the right-handed Fedde, who owns a 4.33 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over his eight appearances out of the bullpen this season.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Plenty of support in third win

Fedde (3-6) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in a 9-3 victory over the Orioles. He struck out three. It wasn't a particularly sharp performance from the right-hander, who tossed 54 of 90 pitches for strikes, but the White Sox backed Fedde with a seven-run third inning that decided the game early. It's the first time in four outings that Fedde has lasted five innings and he hasn't served up a homer in any of them, posting a 3.31 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB over 16.1 innings during that stretch. He'll look to build on this effort in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Cleveland.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Avoids serious damage in bulk role

Fedde didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Guardians, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks over four innings of relief. He struck out two. Working behind opener Chris Murphy, Fedde dealt with traffic on the basepaths in every frame he was on the mound for, but the veteran right-hander was able to keep Cleveland off the board until finally buckling in the sixth inning and getting lifted after 75 pitches (44 strikes). Fedde was on the hook for his seventh loss of 2026, but he escaped when the White Sox tied it up in the ninth off Guardians closer Cade Smith. Fedde has been stingy over five appearances (one start) in June, posting a 1.69 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB through 21.1 innings. His next turn through the rotation, either as a traditional starter or bulk reliever, is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Baltimore.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Fans four during loss

Fedde (2-6) took the loss Friday, giving up two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four batters across 4.2 innings in long relief. Fedde entered the game during the second inning with Chicago already trailing 2-1 and was able to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard for four innings while the White Sox's offense put up a run in the fifth to tie the game before taking a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth. That lead was short-lived, however, as Fedde gave up a leadoff single to Dillon Dingler to begin the next half inning and walked Riley Greene before Kerry Carpenter scored both runners on a double. Despite Friday's result, Fedde has remained fairly reliable since the start of June, posting a 1.56 ERA and 1.10 WHIP alongside a 14:4 K:BB over 17.1 innings across his last four outings. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next appearance against a Guardians lineup that's posted just a .620 OPS across its last 10 games.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Earns second win in relief Sunday

Fedde (2-5) earned the win Sunday against the Dodgers, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four over 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. Fedde entered in the fourth inning after Bryan Hudson and Sean Newcomb combined for 3.1 innings of one-run ball. The right-hander struck out two batters to finish the fourth before working around traffic in each of the next two frames. He stranded runners on the corners in both the fifth and sixth innings to preserve Chicago's lead and ultimately pick up his second win of the season. Fedde has pitched well of late, posting a 1.62 ERA across his last four appearances and he now owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 44:26 K:BB across 66 innings this season. The 33-year-old is scheduled to face Detroit on the road in his next outing.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Blanks Twins for first win

Fedde (1-5) picked up the win in Wednesday's 8-0 victory over the Twins, allowing two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings. He struck out two. The veteran right-hander was lifted after only 61 pitches (40 strikes) with the White Sox ahead 4-0, but Grant Taylor and Chris Murphy worked two innings each to complete the combined shutout. It's Fedde's first win since Aug. 9 of last season when he was with Atlanta, and it's just the second time in six outings since the beginning of May that he's been able to last at least five innings. Fedde will carry a 4.94 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 36:24 K:BB through 58.1 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home next week against his former Atlanta teammates.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Following opener Friday

Fedde will server as the White Sox's primary pitcher in Friday's contest against the Tigers, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Chicago will deploy a lefty opener in Brandon Eisert before turning things over to the righty Fedde to handle the bulk of the innings. Fedde's last outing was as a bulk reliever and it didn't go well, as he was bludgeoned for eight runs on 10 hits and two walks over 3.1 innings in a loss to the Giants.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Likely for bulk relief Saturday

Fedde is expected to be used as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Bryan Hudson in Saturday's game against the Giants, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Hudson will be deployed as a starter for the third time this season, with one of those appearances coming as an opener in front of Fedde in an April 24 game against the Nationals. The southpaw covered the opening frame in that contest, while the right-handed Fedde followed with 5.2 innings out of the bullpen. Expect Saturday's game to follow a similar path, with the White Sox hoping that the arrangement can help generate a bounce-back performance from Fedde, who was tagged for four runs on six hits and four walks over a season-low three innings in his last start Sunday against the Cubs.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Exits early in no-decision

Fedde did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out two over three innings. Fedde struggled from the opening frame, surrendering a two-run homer to Michael Busch before recording his first out of the game and losing control of a sweeper that allowed another run to score in the inning. The veteran needed 92 pitches -- just 49 of which were strikes -- to record only 12 outs before being pulled in the fourth inning after allowing back-to-back baserunners. It marked his shortest outing of the season. Fedde has now allowed a home run in four straight starts and eight total during that stretch. He owns a 4.30 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 28:18 K:BB across 46 innings and is scheduled to face San Francisco next.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Settles in after early trouble

Fedde did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Royals, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two over five innings. Fedde was tagged early, surrendering solo homers to Bobby Witt and Salvador Perez in the first inning, but he settled down nicely afterward and kept Kansas City scoreless over the next four frames. The veteran right-hander continues to struggle with the long ball, now allowing seven home runs across his last three starts. Despite that issue, Fedde still owns a respectable 3.77 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 26:14 K:BB across 43 innings. He'll face a difficult test in his next outing against the Cubs as he searches for his first win of the season.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Surrenders three runs Friday

Fedde didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Nationals, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks with one strikeout across 5.2 innings. Fedde worked as the bulk reliever behind opener Bryan Hudson, who gave up one hit and one walk with one strikeout in a scoreless first inning. Fedde threw 91 pitches but generated just five whiffs. While the right-hander has survived for the most part in the early going this season, his numbers are probably better than he's pitched, as Fedde will carry a 3.42 ERA and 16:11 K:BB across 26.1 innings into his next appearance. He doesn't have swing-and-miss stuff and fully relies on his defense.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Yields three runs over 4.2 innings

Fedde didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Athletics, allowing three runs on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts across 4.2 innings. Fedde struggled with his control and was probably fortunate to not have a worse result, as multiple walks are a recipe for disaster with his command-centric approach. Jacob Wilson took Fedde deep for a solo homer in the second inning, the third homer he's allowed in four starts. Fedde will carry a 3.92 ERA and 15:7 K:BB across 20.2 innings into his next start at home against the Nationals.

  • White Sox's Edgar Quero: Sitting Saturday

Quero is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Athletics on Saturday. Quero will get a breather after going 3-for-8 with two RBI over his last two starts. Reese McGuire will start behind home plate and bat ninth while catching for Erick Fedde.
