Earlier this week, former Red Sox pitcher and current baseball analyst Curt Schilling had some critical remarks for new Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine in a radio interview. Though he was far from specific, Schilling painted a picture that some of the Red Sox players were complaining about Valentine.

One Red Sox player, Josh Beckett -- a former teammate and rotation-mate of Schilling's -- was asked about the comments and his replies seemed to indicate the big righty was a bit peeved with Schilling.

"I haven’t seen him around this year," Beckett said when informed of Schilling's comments (via SportsRadioInterviews.com). "I didn’t know he was going to be one of our pitchers."

More from Beckett (via SportsRadioInterviews.com):

“Game’s a lot easier from over there [as a media person], I think. As far as him speaking about how things are being run here? I haven’t seen him around here to where he would know that much.”

Beckett also gave a one-word answer when asked if he'd spoken with Schilling: "No."

Finally, Beckett got Valentine's back and said that having him as manager so far has been "great."

Good for Beckett. He mostly took the high road while also denigrating the Schilling comments just enough to make people question the validity of the anti-Bobby V. statements. That's perfect PR.
