Lions vs. Colts updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Lions vs. Colts football game
Game Recap
The Indianapolis Colts fell to the Detroit Lions 39-35 when the teams previously met four seasons ago; this time around, they exacted some revenge. The Colts captured a comfortable 41-21 win Sunday. The success made it back-to-back wins for them.
Indianapolis QB Philip Rivers was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 262 yards on 33 attempts. Rivers ended up with a passer rating of 166.40. Indianapolis' SS Kenny Moore got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the fourth quarter into a touchdown.
Indianapolis' defense was a presence as well, as it got past Detroit's offensive line to sack QB Matthew Stafford five times for a loss of 39 yards. The heavy lifting was done by DT Denico Autry and DE Tyquan Lewis, who each racked up two sacks.
Detroit's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Stafford, who passed for three TDs and 336 yards on 42 attempts, and WR Marvin Jones, who snatched two receiving TDs. Stafford ended up with a passer rating of 143.20.
Indianapolis' victory brought them up to 5-2. Detroit's loss pushed them down to 3-4.
The Colts will square off against the Baltimore Ravens at 1 p.m. ET next week at Lucas Oil Stadium. These teams both have allowed few points on average (Indianapolis 19.43, Baltimore 18.86), so any points scored will be well earned. As for Detroit, they will go up against the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. ET next week at U.S. Bank Stadium. Detroit will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a Minnesota defense that has allowed 31 points per game on average.
