CHICAGO (AP) David Hamilton homered and doubled, shaking off an early error at shortstop to help the Boston Red Sox rally past the Chicago White Sox 6-4 in 10 innings Sunday.

Jarren Duran reached on an error by reliever Michael Soroka (0-7) in the 10th, sending automatic runner Ceddanne Rafaela from second base to third. He scored on Jamie Westbrook’s sacrifice fly, and Rob Refsnyder singled home another run as Boston (33-33) returned to .500.

“We really needed that,” Hamilton said. “We didn’t play like we wanted to this series.”

Kenley Jansen (2-1) struck out five in two innings for the win. Cam Booser fanned two in a perfect 10th for his first career save.

“I told (manager Alex Cora) that I got the inning. I got the next inning. I don’t want to hear it,” Jansen said.

Paul DeJong hit a three-run homer and doubled for the White Sox, who had won two straight after a franchise-record 14-game losing streak.

Corey Julks also had two hits for Chicago, which is a major league-worst 17-49. The White Sox have not won more than two consecutive since May 8-11 against Tampa Bay and Cleveland.

“We took advantage of some of their mistakes there and we couldn’t quite put those finishing touches on them,” DeJong said. “Tough way to lose, but I liked the ways we played the last three days.”

Hamilton doubled and scored on Reese McGuire’s sacrifice fly off Tanner Banks to tie it 4-all in the ninth.

The White Sox went ahead 4-3 in the seventh. Julks led off with a double, and pinch-runner Duke Ellis scored on a single by Gavin Sheets.

Duran, who scored three times, walked and came home on a groundout to tie it at 3 in the sixth.

DeJong's three-run shot put the White Sox ahead after the Red Sox committed three errors in the fourth. Sheets reached on an error when pitcher Justin Slaten tried to cover first, advanced on Hamilton’s fielding gaffe and moved to third on McGuire’s botched pickoff attempt from behind the plate before DeJong’s 12th homer of the season.

The Red Sox also had an eventful play in the sixth. DeJong reached on a ground-rule double when a flyball bounced past left fielder Duran and center fielder Rafaela on a windy day.

Hamilton hit his third homer in the fifth.

“It was really cool to see some of the younger guys step up, some of the rookies,” Refsnyder said. “Hamilton had that play early, he was pretty upset about it, he was pretty hard on himself, but his at-bats after that were fantastic.”

Duran led off the fourth with his major league-leading 10th triple and scored on a double play for a 1-0 Boston lead. He has the most triples in a Red Sox season since Jacoby Ellsbury’s 10 in 2009.

Chris Flexen allowed two runs in five innings for Chicago.

Zack Kelly struck out three in two scoreless innings in his first career start on a Red Sox bullpen day.

ON THE MOVE

The White Sox plan to bring up right-hander Drew Thorpe from Double-A Birmingham to make his major league debut Tuesday at Seattle. Thorpe, one of the team’s top prospects, was acquired from San Diego in the Dylan Cease trade in March.

“He’s a strike-thrower, he’s a competitor, he’s got a plus-plus-plus changeup,” manager Pedro Grifol said.

The 23-year-old Thorpe is 7-1 with a 1.35 ERA in 11 starts with Birmingham. He has 56 strikeouts and 17 walks in 60 innings.

Thorpe was traded from the New York Yankees to San Diego in the Juan Soto deal in December.

Also on Sunday, the White Sox optioned right-hander Nick Nastrini to Triple-A Charlotte, brought up left-hander Sammy Peralta from Charlotte and designated left-hander Shane Drohan for assignment.
