This was Philp's first point in five games since his recall from AHL Bakersfield. He has replaced Derek Ryan on the roster and in a bottom-six role, centering the fourth line. Philp is at two helpers, eight shots on net, six hits, four blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over eight appearances this season. The 26-year-old is unlikely to see enough ice time to make an impact in fantasy.

Oilers' Noah Philp: Helper in NHL debut
Philp recorded an assist and three shots on goal in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Predators.
Philp took the long road to the NHL, which included taking a year off for personal reasons in 2023-24. He didn't miss a step with the time off, and he was one of the Oilers' last roster cuts in training camp, which put him in position to earn a call-up early in the campaign. Philp also won 10 of 14 faceoffs, taking more draws than every Oiler other than Leon Draisaitl. Philp will have the length of Connor McDavid's (ankle) 2-3 week absence to make a case to stay in the NHL as a bottom-six center.

Philp produced 19 goals and 37 points in 70 AHL contests during the 2022-23 regular season. Due to personal reasons, he did not play any hockey last campaign. Philp signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Oilers in July to resume his career. He will probably spend most of 2024-25 in the minors.
