Sharks' Patrick Giles: Scores first NHL
Giles scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Predators.
The goal was the first of Giles' career, as well as his first point. It took him 11 games to achieve the milestone, though his scoring upside is fairly limited. He's added nine shots on net, 19 hits and a minus-1 rating between the Sharks and the Panthers this season. Giles will face competition for bottom-six minutes once Noah Gregor (not injury related) is able to play, but it looks like the Sharks are willing to give the 25-year-old Giles a fair shake in his audition to stay in the NHL.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Called up Friday
Giles was called up from AHL San Jose on Friday.
Giles was called up after getting traded from the Panthers in the Vitek Vanecek trade Wednesday. The 25-year-old Giles is going to be in contention for a regular NHL job for the rest of the season as he tries to impress his new team. He had seven points in 39 games with AHL Charlotte, so his upside for fantasy is limited.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Traded Wednesday
Giles was acquired by San Jose from Florida on Wednesday in exchange for Vitek Vanecek, per George Richards of Florida Hockey Now.
Giles has five goals, seven points and 39 PIM over 39 outings with AHL Charlotte in 2024-25. He's also appeared in nine games with Florida this season, recording no points, a minus-1 rating, four shots, 16 hits and four blocks while averaging 7:23 of ice time. The 25-year-old will likely remain in the minors for now.

Panthers' Patrick Giles: Loaned to AHL Charlotte
Giles was reassigned to AHL Charlotte on Friday.
After Giles was a healthy scratch Opening Night, he managed to get into the lineup in the Panthers' last nine games. Giles was unable to garner a point in his first season in the NHL, but he did pick up 16 hits and four blocked shots. Giles had 13 goals and 10 assists in 66 regular-season AHL games in 2023-24.

Giles was called up by the Panthers on Friday, per Colby Guy of The Palm Beach Post.
Giles had 10 goals, 23 points and 31 PIM in 66 regular-season games with AHL Charlotte in 2023-24. The 24-year-old hasn't made his NHL debut, but perhaps he'll draw into the lineup Saturday versus Buffalo if Barkov (lower body) is unavailable after being hurt during Thursday's 3-1 loss to Ottawa.

Giles is not on Florida's Opening Night roster, according to David Dwork of The Hockey News on Monday.
Giles will report to AHL Charlotte as a result of being waivers exempt -- the 24-year-old provided 23 points in 66 regular-season contests with the Checkers in 2023-24. The right-shot forward will look to make his first NHL appearance in 2024-25 if he can continue developing his game in the minors.
