  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Nets third goal this postseason

Knies scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Ottawa in Game 4. It was his third goal of the postseason. Knies bulled his way past two defenders after chipping the puck through them. He then broke in on Linus Ullmark and finished a deke over the netminder's blocker. In addition to his three goals, Knies has six shots and seven hits in four games this postseason.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Another power-play snipe

Knies scored a goal in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Senators. His goal came when Knies fired a centering pass toward the net that deflected off Shane Pinto's skate in front and trickled over the goal line on the power play. It was his second goal this postseason; both snipes came on the power play. Knies has looked sharp this postseason, but we'd like to see him fire the puck a bit more, as he has just four shots in three games.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Tacks on power-play goal

Knies scored a power-play goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Senators in Game 1. Knies cashed in for the game's final goal when the Senators were unable to control the puck in front of their net in the third period. Knies' physical playing style sets him up well to be an impact player in the postseason. He had a strong regular season with 29 goals, 29 assists, 15 power-play points and 182 hits over 78 appearances while mainly playing on the top line.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Helps on first and last goals

Knies registered two assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Red Wings. Knies set up Auston Matthews on the opening tally and also helped out on Scott Laughton's game-winner in overtime. Knies has four goals and five assists over eight contests in April, so he looks ready to have a breakout on a bigger stage in the postseason. He put up an impressive 29 goals, 29 assists, 152 shots on net, 182 hits and a plus-7 rating over 78 regular-season outings.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Bags second career hat trick

Knies scored three goals, one on the power play and another the overtime winner, in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Lightning. It was the 22-year-old's second career hat trick, as the Maple Leafs' top line of Knies, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner combined for all four of the team's goals and nine total points. With four games left on Toronto's regular-season schedule, Knies needs one more tally to reach 30 for the first time in his career.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Registers helper Saturday

Knies logged an assist, six shots on goal, four hits and two PIM in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets. Knies has a goal and six assists over his last six outings after helping out on an Auston Matthews tally late in the third period. The 22-year-old Knies is up to 26 goals, 26 helpers, 139 shots on net, 178 hits, 41 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 72 contests overall. As long as he stays on the top line, he'll be a strong all-around option for fantasy managers.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Earns two points in win

Knies scored a goal, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Panthers. Knies has six points over his last five outings. The 22-year-old's tally ended a five-game goal drought, and it was the game-winner. For the season, the winger has 26 goals (five game-winners), 51 points, 133 shots on net, 174 hits, 38 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 71 appearances. He continues to serve as a power winger on the Maple Leafs' top line.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Supplies helper in win

Knies notched a power-play assist, two shots on goal and three hits in Monday's 6-2 win over the Flames. Knies logged 19:52 of ice time to lead Toronto forwards in the blowout win. The winger has gone six games without a goal, but he has three assists in that span while maintaining his top-line role and a spot on the first power-play unit. For the season, he's up to 24 goals, 20 helpers, 113 shots on net, 149 hits and a minus-3 rating across 63 appearances.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Two points in victory

Knies produced a goal and an assist in Sunday's 6-5 overtime win over the Penguins. Knies set up an Auston Matthews tally early in the middle stanza before potting a goal of his own at 19:59 of the same frame. Knies' marker was a true buzzer beater -- the on-ice officials had to review the play to make sure that there was enough time on the clock before the puck crossed the goal line. The 22-year-old's point streak is at three games (two goals, two assists), and he's enjoying a breakout campaign playing alongside Matthews and Mitch Marner. Knies sits fifth on the club in scoring with 23 goals and 17 helpers through 56 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Scores again Thursday

Knies scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kraken. Knies' second-period tally stretched the Maple Leafs' lead to 3-0 in the second period. He has three goals and five points over three outings since he returned from an upper-body injury that cost him two contests. The winger has earned a career year in just 50 appearances, registering 21 goals and 36 points while adding 88 shots on net, 115 hits and a plus-1 rating. The sky's the limit for Knies as long as he remains on the top line.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Hits 20 goal plateau for first time

Knies had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win over Calgary on Tuesday. He has two consecutive two-point games under his belt and eight points (four goals, four assists) in his last five appearances. Knies hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career, and his 35 points equal his career mark from last season. The leap forward in his game is obvious -- he hit 35 points in 80 games last season but pulled it off in 49 this year.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Two-point night in win

Knies earned a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Oilers. He didn't skip a beat after missing two games due to a shoulder injury, stepping back onto the top line and first power-play unit. Knies is just two points from his career mark of 35 points. However, his shooting percentage (22.9) is significantly higher than his 13.0 from last season. Still, Knies has been a solid fantasy contributor with 19 goals and 113 hits through 48 appearances this campaign.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Placed on IR

Knies (upper body) was designated for injured reserve Wednesday, per the NHL media site. Knies will switch places with Max Pacioretty (upper body), who was activated off IR prior to Wednesday's clash with Minnesota. At this point, the 22-year-old Knies may have to wait until after the 4 Nations Face-Off to get back into the lineup, though no official timeline has been announced.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Might be available for Saturday

Knies (upper body) might be able to return Saturday versus Edmonton, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Wednesday. Knies is expected to miss his second straight game when the Maple Leafs face Minnesota on Wednesday, but that might be the extent of his time on the shelf due to his upper-body issue. He has 18 goals and 31 points over 47 outings in 2024-25. When healthy, Knies could play on the top line alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, which would push Bobby McMann off that unit.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Injured Wednesday

Knies (upper body) won't return to Wednesday's game versus the Blue Jackets. Knies was hurt late in the second period and ruled out shortly after the start of the third. He took a hard hit on his last shift that led to his injury. Knies has earned 12 points over 11 contests in January, so his potential absence would be a big one for the Maple Leafs if he can't play Saturday in Ottawa.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Massive three-point effort

Knies had two goals and an assist in Monday's 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. When Knies steps into his power, Knies really steps into his power, and it's impressive. He has 18 goals, 31 points and 80 shots in 46 games. Knies is just four points from tying his rookie scoring mark, and he already has set a new high for goals. He's thriving in Craig Berube's north-south style, and a 35-goal season is within reach.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Three-game, five-goal streak

Knies scored the game-winning goal Tuesday in a 3-2 victory over the Flyers. Knies' goal gave him five during a three-game goal streak (seven points) after he went nine without a goal. The young wing is bursting with confidence. He's playing alongside Auston Matthews, and it's a matter of the superstar making the kid, at least right now. Knies is not as talented as his current exploits. But we'll take these goals 100 times out of 100.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Scores again Sunday

Knies scored a goal, added two PIM and levied five hits in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers. Knies didn't replicate his three-goal, two-assist performance from Saturday, but he looks to be much more comfortable in the lineup with Auston Matthews back in action. The 22-year-old Knies is a natural fit alongside his superstar teammate, which should lead to steady production going forward. Overall, Knies has 15 goals -- matching his total from 80 regular-season games in 2023-24 -- while adding 10 assists, 69 shots on net, 83 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 39 appearances.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Five-point outburst includes hattie

Knies scored three goals and had five points in a 6-4 win over the Bruins on Saturday. What a night. Knies scored his first NHL hat trick. In the process, he ended his point and goal droughts of five and nine games, respectively. Not surprisingly, Knies' offensive explosion coincided with the return of linemate Auston Matthews, who had missed six games because of an upper-body injury. Get the young winger back in your lineup. He won't soon have another five-point game, but he will generate offense playing alongside one of the NHL's best players.

  • Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Mired in goal drought

Knies' goal drought stands at eight games after he was held off the score sheet Tuesday in a 3-1 win over the Islanders. Knies appeared to have snapped the slump early in the second period, but New York used a coach's challenge for goalie interference, and the call on the ice was overturned. Knies still seems to have coach Craig Berube's trust, as he plays mostly on one of the top two lines and gets first-unit power-play time. He also continues to lay hits. Knies, more than any other Leaf, might be the most affected by the absence of center Auston Matthews (upper body). His game is developing, but he still can't carry a line on his own.
