Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Lands on IR
Sillinger (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Sillinger's designation for injured reserve is essentially a formality after general manager Don Waddell told reporters Tuesday that the 21-year-old center is expected to miss several weeks due to his shoulder injury. The Blue Jackets activated Yegor Chinakhov from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Joseph LaBate and Mikael Pyyhtia could see more ice time as a result of Sillinger facing an extended absence.

Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Facing weeks on shelf
Sillinger (shoulder) is expected to miss several weeks after general manager Don Waddell told reporters Tuesday, "We know he doesn't need surgery. We've had that confirmed. It's just a matter of rehabbing the shoulder, which is very sore and swollen. It's gonna be a few weeks," per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.
Sillinger is expected to miss most of March based on his recovery timeline. General manager Don Waddell announced Friday that Sillinger (upper body) "will be out for a little while," Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.
Sillinger sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of Thursday's game against the Red Wings, and it appears as though he'll be forced to miss additional time. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but Mikael Pyyhtia will likely enter the lineup after he was called up Friday.
