Guentzel had a goal and two assists in a 5-1 victory over Florida in Game 3 on Saturday. Guentzel scored from in front of the net 21 seconds into the third period, with the teams skating at 4-on-4 to put the Bolts up 3-1. • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Tallies on power play in loss

Guentzel scored a power-play goal on six shots and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 1. Guentzel has scored four times over his last four games, including two power-play goals in that span. His first year with the Lightning saw the winger tally a career-best 41 goals while reaching the 80-point mark for the second time in his career. He's locked into a top-six role and a spot on the first power-play unit, so he should be a significant factor in the Lightning's offense during the playoffs.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Reaches 40-goal mark

Guentzel scored two goals, including one on the power play, on four shots in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Sabres. With the two-goal effort, Guentzel reached the 40-goal mark for the third time in his career. He hadn't potted a goal in his last four outings prior to Sunday. The 30-year-old winger is at 79 points, including 28 on the power play, while adding 214 shots on net, 52 blocked shots and a plus-19 rating over 78 appearances. He'll have up to two more chances to secure the second 80-point campaign of his career.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Returns to practice Friday

Guentzel (personal) was back at practice Friday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Guentzel did not play Tuesday versus Toronto, awaiting the birth of his child. The 30-year-old has 38 goals and 39 assists across 76 games with the Lightning this season. He has been a stud on the power play with 16 goals and 11 helpers on the Lightning's top unit. He should be back in his regular role on the top line, alongside Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point on Friday versus Detroit.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Awaiting birth of child

Guentzel is away from the Lightning while awaiting the birth of his child, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports. No reason was initially provided for Guentzel's absence, but this is an encouraging update rather than a concerning one. Mitchell Chaffee will cover for Guentzel in this contest, while Guentzel will attempt to be ready to return to the lineup Friday versus the Red Wings.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Unavailable Wednesday

Guentzel (undisclosed) won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs, Gabby Shirley of FanDuel Sports Network Florida & Sun reports. Guentzel had three power-play assists in 19:24 of ice time versus the Rangers on Monday. However, it looks like he's dealing with an injury -- it's unlikely the Lightning would be resting a player in a matchup that will have an impact on who wins the Atlantic Division this season. Mitchell Chaffee is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday, but Nick Paul stands to pick up the most extra ice time in Guentzel's absence.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Three PP helpers in win

Guentzel notched three power-play assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Rangers. The Lightning's top power-play unit dominated the game, as Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov also had three-point performances with the man advantage. Guentzel has delivered five multi-point efforts in the last nine games as he closes in on a couple of personal milestones -- the 30-year-old winger needs two more tallies for his third career 40-goal campaign and three more points to reach 80 for the second time.

Guentzel had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 victory over the Islanders on Saturday. Guentzel has eight points (four goals, four assists) over his past five games. It was his 37th goal of the season, putting him within three of equaling his career mark of 40. Guentzel achieved that plateau in 2021-22 and 2018-19. He sits second on the Lightning with 37 goals this season, one behind Brayden Point (38), and he's tied with Kyle Connor for fourth overall in the league.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Fourth straight 70-point season

Guentzel scored twice in an 8-0 win over Utah on Thursday. Guentzel got the Bolts on the board just 1:30 into the game when he chipped the puck past Karel Vejmelka from the low slot. Guentzel's second tally came on the power play late in the second frame. He has six points, including three goals, and 11 shots across his last four games and 36 goals overall this year. He has put up four straight 70-point seasons (84, 73, 77 and 70).

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Big three-point effort in loss

Guentzel had a goal and two assists in a 6-4 loss to Utah on Saturday. Guentzel has 34 goals and 33 assists (187 shots) in 68 games in his first year with the Bolts. He's now within one goal of tying Dino Ciccarelli (35; 1996-97) for the second-most goals by a player in his first season with Tampa Bay. It would take a real push for him to best Brian Bradley, who tops the list with 42 (1992-93), but never say never.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Hat trick in win

Guentzel scored a hat trick in the second period of a 6-5 win over the Sabres on Thursday. Guentzel has put up points in three straight games (five goals, two assists; 12 shots). He's played well this season, and he has 32 goals and 31 assists in 61 games. However, prior to this recent run, Guentzel had gone 32 games without a multi-goal game. He still produced points -- he had 28 in that span. But snipers often snipe in bunches, and he hasn't. However, that's perfectly fine with Guentzel's consistent production.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: First goals in eight games

Guentzel scored two goals and added an assist in a 6-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Guentzel pushed the Bolts up 3-1 early in the second period with an easy, backdoor tap-in; the goal stood as the winner. His second went into an empty net. The goals were Guentzel's first in eight games. The sniper is now one goal from recording his fourth-straight 30-goal season and fifth of this career.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Just two goals in last 12 games

Guentzel has two assists in four games since the 4 Nations Face-Off. The sniper has been stuck at 27 goals since Feb. 6, and he has just two goals in his last 12 games. Guentzel will get his goals -- he's a prolific finisher. Snipers put goals up in bunches, so expect an outburst soon enough.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Gets goal in international debut

Guentzel scored a goal and added an assist Thursday in a 6-1 USA win over Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal. Guentzel's goal came in the third, 11 seconds after Matthew Tkachuk had pushed the USA up 3-1 on the power play. He scored on the rush from the left circle off a pass from Auston Matthews. The two goals in 11 seconds tied an NHL international tourney record (1991 Canada Cup) for the fastest consecutive goals scored by the same team. Guentzel, 30, is the only player on Team USA with no international experience, but his speed, pace and sniping are excellent complements to a strong USA squad.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Top-10 NHL sniper

Guentzel scored a goal Saturday in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders. It was his 26th marker of the season, which puts him into a tie with Mikko Rantanen for eighth in the NHL. Guentzel is on pace for his third 40-goal campaign, but his 19.4 shooting percentage is well above his 15.6 career average. There may be some minor regression over the final 30 games, but we don't think he's going to slump dramatically.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Three points in victory

Guentzel produced a power-play goal and two helpers, one on the man advantage, in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings. Guentzel recorded his second three-point effort of 2024-25 in Saturday's win, as all of his production came in a lopsided second period in which Tampa Bay found the back of the net four times. The left-shot winger has a goal in back-to-back wins after going five games without a tally. He's delivered six points over his last four outings. The 30-year-old has done his part in attempting to replicate the production lost by Steven Stamkos, who is in his first season with Nashville. Guentzel is up to 23 goals, 46 points (15 on the power play), 14 PIM, 111 shots on goal and a plus-8 rating through 43 appearances in his first campaign as a Bolt.
