  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Thursday

Andersen is expected to start Thursday's regular-season finale on the road against Ottawa, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen has alternated starts over the second half of the season, and he'll tend the twine Thursday after Pyotr Kochetkov started Wednesday. Andersen hasn't been particularly sharp in recent outings, going 0-2-1 with a 4.23 GAA and .827 save percentage over his last three starts, although he had a seven-game winning streak prior to his recent skid. He'll have an opportunity for a final regular-season tune-up Thursday, and it seems possible that Andersen and Kochetkov will continue to share playing time in the playoffs.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Losing streak continues

Andersen stopped 16 of 20 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs. Andersen has been alternating starts with Pyotr Kochetkov in recent weeks, and while the 35-year-old veteran was impressive in March, his play in April has been downright woeful. He's lost his past three starts, going 0-2-1 with a 4.23 GAA and a subpar .827 save percentage over that stretch. If the rotation between the pipes continues, then Andersen could start against the Senators on Thursday in the regular-season finale.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Expected to start Sunday

Andersen is slated to start at home against Toronto on Sunday, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Andersen will try to rebound after allowing nine goals on 55 shots (.836 save percentage) over his past two appearances. He's 13-6-1 with a 2.20 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 20 outings this season. Toronto ranks ninth overall in goals per game with 3.23.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Outdueled in shootout loss

Andersen made 24 of 28 saves in Thursday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Capitals. Andersen had a strong first and third period Thursday night but allowed four consecutive goals from late in the first to the end of the second. He then tended a clean overtime before he surrendered the lone goal of the shootout to Washington's Pierre-Luc Dubois. Thursday was Andersen's first overtime loss of the season, which brings his overall record to 13-6-1 with a 2.20 GAA and a .911 save percentage across 20 games. After putting together a seven-game winning streak throughout March and into April during which he allowed just 10 goals, the 35-year-old netminder has lost back-to-back appearances and has conceded nine goals in that span. Given his track record in 2024-25, Andersen should bounce back and stay a top option in the crease for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Thursday

Andersen was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate and is expected to be between the pipes in Washington on Thursday, per Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. Andersen had his seven-game winning streak snapped Saturday in Boston, allowing five goals on 27 shots (.815 save percentage). He is 13-6-0 with a 2.11 GAA and a .914 save percentage across 19 appearances this season. The Capitals lead the NHL in scoring, averaging 3.58 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Woeful showing vs. Boston

Andersen stopped 21 of 26 shots in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins. Andersen found himself on the losing end of a start for the first time since March 1, and this was one of his worst showings of the entire season. This defeat also snapped a streak of eight games with a save percentage of at least .900. Andersen, who has gone 7-3-0 with a 2.11 GAA and a .914 save percentage since the 4 Nations Face-Off break, will aim to bounce back in his next start. Given that the Hurricanes have been alternating between Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov in recent weeks, Andersen's next start will likely come against the Capitals on Thursday, with Kochetkov in line to face the Sabres on Tuesday.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start in Boston

Andersen is expected to defend the road net versus the Bruins on Saturday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Andersen has stopped 161 of 171 shots during his seven-game winning streak. He has a 13-5-0 record with one shutout, a 1.95 GAA and a .920 save percentage across 18 appearances this season. Boston is tied for 29th in the league with 2.59 goals per game in 2024-25, and the team lost 10 straight outings (0-9-1).

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Win streak at seven

Andersen made 20 saves in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Capitals. The one puck to get past him came via an Alex Ovechkin one-timer on the power play in the final minute of the second period. Andersen has won seven straight starts, posting a dazzling 1.43 GAA and .942 save percentage over that stretch, and he's been the better of Carolina's netminder of late -- since the beginning of March, Pyotr Kochetkov has a 2.57 GAA and .895 save percentage in his seven outings.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Faces quiet night in win

Andersen made 14 of 15 saves in Friday's 4-1 win over the Canadiens. Outside of the Habs' lone goal just 23 seconds into the game, Andersen wasn't particularly busy but shut the door the rest of the way. The 35-year-old netminder is up to a 12-5-0 record with a 2.01 GAA and a .919 save percentage in 17 appearances this season. With Friday's victory, Andersen extended his winning streak to six games and has allowed just nine goals during that span. He remains available in several fantasy leagues and is currently one of the best netminders to deploy despite alternating starts with Pyotr Kochetkov. Andersen is just two wins away from passing his total from a season ago and should provide great value in net during the fantasy playoffs. If Carolina continues to alternate its goaltenders and starts Kochetkov versus the Islanders on Sunday, Andersen is likely to start Wednesday against the Capitals.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting versus Canadiens

Andersen will guard the home goal versus the Canadiens on Friday. Andersen is set to take his usual turn in the Hurricanes' goalie rotation. The 35-year-old has won five straight outings, allowing no more than two goals in any of those victories. The Canadiens are coming off a 6-4 loss to the Flyers on Thursday and have lost four straight games.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Strong showing in win

Andersen stopped 35 of 37 shots in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Ducks. Andersen put on a show against his first NHL team, flashing the leather on multiple occasions while facing his highest shot total of the season. He came away with a fifth straight win, a span in which he's allowed just eight goals on 135 shots. He's up to 11-5-0 with a 2.07 GAA and a .918 save percentage across 16 appearances. Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov continue to split the crease evenly -- if that pattern holds, Kochetkov will get a favorable matchup Tuesday versus the Predators, while Andersen is lined up to take on the Canadiens on Friday.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Drawing start against Anaheim

Andersen will defend the road crease against the Ducks on Sunday, Ducks PA Announcer Phil Hulett reports. Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov have alternated starts recently, and that trend will continue in the second half of a back-to-back set Sunday. Andersen has picked up wins in each of his last four starts, posting a 1.50 GAA and .939 save percentage during that time.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Holds firm in win

Andersen stopped 24 of 25 shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Sharks. The lone goal against Andersen was a shorthanded tally by William Eklund in the first period. He stood tall the rest of the way, allowing the Hurricanes' offense to do its job in the win. Andersen has won four outings in a row, allowing just six goals on 98 shots in that span. For the season, he's at a 10-5-0 record with a 2.08 GAA and a .915 save percentage. As usual, only injuries have slowed down the 35-year-old, who continues to share the crease with Pyotr Kochetkov. Assuming the goalie rotation holds, Kochetkov will get the nod Saturday versus the Kings while Andersen is lined up to start Sunday against the Ducks, one of his former teams.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: First goalie off

Andersen was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Max Miller of NHL.com reports, indicating that he'll draw the road start against San Jose. Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov have alternated starts in recent weeks, and that trend will continue Thursday. Andersen is in the midst of a three-game winning streak in which he's posted a 1.67 GAA and .932 save percentage. Despite Andersen's recent hot streak, Kochetkov is riding a five-game winning streak, so it seems likely that the pair of netminders will continue to split time for now.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Facing Red Wings

Andersen will start at home versus the Red Wings on Friday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Andersen will handle the goaltending duties for the first half of a back-to-back set, leaving Pyotr Kochetkov to start Saturday in Philadelphia. Andersen has won his last two starts, allowing just three goals on 47 shots in that span.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Earns win Sunday

Andersen stopped 20 of 22 shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over Winnipeg. Andersen has been alternating starts with Pyotr Kochetkov, but the 35-year-old veteran is making a strong case to see action on a more regular basis. Aside from winning his last two starts, Andersen has posted a save percentage of at least .900 in four of his last five appearances. Andersen has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.24 GAA and a .908 save percentage over that five-game stretch. However, Kochetkov has been almost just as good, going 4-1-0 with a 2.40 GAA and a .904 save percentage over his previous five appearances.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting against Winnipeg

Andersen is starting Sunday's home game against the Jets, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov have alternated starts recently, and that trend will continue against Winnipeg. Over his last five starts, Andersen has gone 1-4-0 with a 2.67 GAA and .894 save percentage. The Jets rank third in the NHL with 3.52 goals per game this season.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Earns win in low-scoring affair

Andersen stopped 24 of 25 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Wings. Andersen was outstanding in this win and did everything in his power to lift the Hurricanes to victory in a low-scoring matchup. Numbers aside, this was a much-needed bounce-back performance for Andersen, who had lost each of his previous four starts. This was the first win since Jan. 28 for the 35-year-old veteran, but Pyotr Kochetkov should get the nod versus the Bruins on Thursday as the Hurricanes stick with their timeshare between the pipes.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Tuesday

Andersen is expected to patrol the road blue paint against the Red Wings on Tuesday. Andersen has lost four straight decisions but was given only four total goals of support in those contests. The Danish netminder has been excellent across 13 appearances against Detroit in his career, owning an 11-1-1 record, .924 save percentage and 2.22 GAA. The Red Wings sit 19th in the NHL with 2.88 goals per game in 2024-25 and are 2-3-1 in their last six games.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Losing streak grows to four

Andersen allowed two goals while making 28 saves in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Oilers. Andersen gave up one goal in each of the first two periods before Edmonton sealed the win with an empty-netter after Andersen left the ice. The 35-year-old is currently on a four-game losing streak, during which he has surrendered 12 goals. Overall, Andersen has a 6-5-0 record with a 2.29 GAA and a .907 save percentage. For the time being, it is best to proceed with caution when playing Andersen in fantasy even though he holds decent value behind a strong Hurricanes defense. Carolina remains in a playoff spot in the Metropolitan, and Andersen will likely continue to alternate with Pyotr Kochetkov in net.
