Marcedes Lewis: Goes back to practice squad
Lewis reverted to Denver's practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transactions log.
Lewis suited up for his second game of the season in Week 10 versus the Raiders, and he again did not record a stat Thursday. The Broncos will be able to elevate him from the practice squad one more time this year before they would be required to sign him to the active roster to make him eligible to play.

Broncos' Marcedes Lewis: Elevated to face Raiders
The Broncos have elevated Lewis from the practice squad for Thursday's matchup against Las Vegas, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Lewis was previously elevated for Denver's win over the Texans in Week 9, a contest in which he played six offensive snaps and was not targeted. The veteran tight end will get another chance to handle reserve duties versus the Raiders on Thursday Night Football, as Nate Adkins (knee) is sidelined for a second straight contest.

Marcedes Lewis: Returns to practice squad
Lewis reverted to the Broncos' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Lewis joined the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday and was elevated for Sunday's game against the Texans to provide depth at tight end due to the absences of Lucas Krull (foot, IR) and Nate Adkins (knee). The 41-year-old Lewis saw the field for just six of the Broncos' 63 offensive snaps -- well behind Adam Trautman (46) and Evan Engram (32) -- and did not show up in the box score otherwise. Lewis could be elevated for Thursday's game against the Raiders to serve as the TE3 if Adkins is not cleared to play.

Broncos' Marcedes Lewis: Elevated for Week 9
Lewis was elevated from the Broncos' practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
The 41-year-old veteran was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Texans. Injuries to Lucas Krull (foot) and Nate Adkins (knee) will render them unable to compete Sunday, so the Broncos will turn to Lewis to provide offensive and special teams value behind Evan Engram and Adam Trautman.

Marcedes Lewis: Joins Broncos' practice squad
Lewis signed with the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 41-year-old is expected to provide depth at tight end, as Lucas Krull (foot) and Nate Adkins (knee) are both currently dealing with injuries. Lewis appeared in 17 games for the Bears in 2024, catching his lone target for two yards across 260 total snaps (209 on offense, 51 on special teams).

Bears' Marcedes Lewis: One reception in 2024
Lewis played in 17 games for the Bears during the 2024 season, catching is lone target for two yards.
Lewis played 20 percent of the snaps, though he was primarily used as a blocker. The veteran will be an unrestricted free agent who will turn 41 years old this offseason. If Lewis chooses to sign with a team, he'll likely resume a similar role to the one that afforded him just 13 targets over the last three years.

Bears' Marcedes Lewis: No usage in passing game in Week 15
Lewis went without a target in Sunday's 38-13 loss to the 49ers while playing six of the Bears' 53 snaps on offense.
Lewis has suited up in each of Chicago's first 13 games of the season, but he's played more than 20 snaps on offense on just one occasion and has logged only one target on the campaign. Rather than representing a viable pass-catching threat, the 40-year-old tight end -- the second-oldest player in the NFL -- brings most of his value as a positive locker-room presence and as a reliable blocker at this stage of his career.

Bears' Marcedes Lewis: Intends to re-sign with Bears
Lewis is meeting with Chicago on Monday with the intention of re-signing for the 2024 season, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
Lewis appears set for a second campaign in Chicago after playing in all 17 regular-season contests last season. He's regarded as one of the league's top blocking tight ends and sprinkled in some contributions as a receiver in 2023, catching four of five targets for 29 yards and a score. His Week 16 touchdown was notable in that it made him the oldest tight end in NFL history to record a receiving score. Lewis turned 40 years old in May and will be embarking upon his 19th professional campaign in 2024. He's unlikely to make a significant impact on offense or in fantasy, but he'll boost the Bears offense with his blocking while serving as a positive locker room presence.
