  • Frank Gore: Gets spot on practice squad

The Bills re-signed Gore (knee) to their practice squad Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.

Gore dealt with a knee injury late in the preseason, but the undrafted rookie out of Southern Miss no longer has an injury designation. The clear top man in Buffalo's backfield is James Cook, with Ray Davis and Ty Johnson locked in for the top reserve spots. Darrynton Evans (hamstring) will also handle a depth role once back from injured reserve, so Gore lacks a clear path to activation from the practice squad, barring injuries. Still, he showed enough during the preseason to warrant a chance to continue his development.

  • Frank Gore: Cut by Buffalo

The Bills waived Gore (knee) on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The son of longtime NFL running back Frank Gore, the Southern Miss product went undrafted in April before signing with the Bills. Gore was impressive during the preseason, rushing for 163 yards and one touchdown on 33 carries while adding four grabs for an additional 16 yards. It wasn't enough to claim a 53-man roster spot behind James Cook and fourth-round rookie Ray Davis, but there's a good chance Gore is either claimed or lands a job on a practice squad.

  • Bills' Frank Gore: Getting X-rays on knee

Gore is scheduled to undergo X-rays after injuring his knee during Saturday's preseason game against Carolina, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Gore was having a tremendous outing in the Bills' preseason finale, racking up 101 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries before suffering the knee injury. He has been competing against Ray Davis, Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans (hamstring) for the backup running back job behind James Cook. The results of the X-rays will be a crucial factor toward Gore's chances of making Buffalo's final 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.

  • Bills' Frank Gore: Out with knee injury

Gore (knee) is out for the rest of Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers.

The undrafted rookie was having himself a day before leaving late in the game, carrying the ball 18 times for 101 yards and a touchdown before exiting. Gore is fighting for a roster spot on a thin running back depth chart behind starter James Cook. The son of longtime NFL back Frank Gore recorded 4,022 yards and 26 touchdowns during a four-year college career at Southern Miss. Making matters worse for the Bills, fellow running back Darrynton Evans suffered a hamstring injury prior to Gore's injury and also had to leave the contest.

  • Frank Gore: Signing with Buffalo

Gore intends to sign with the Bills as an undrafted free agent, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

The son of longtime NFL back Frank Gore, Gore spent all four years at Southern Miss and carried the ball 759 times for 4,022 yards and 26 touchdowns during his collegiate career. He led the team in rushing all four seasons and earned an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl, where Gore was named Offensive MVP. A college workhorse, Gore joins a light depth chart that includes James Cook, fourth-round rookie Ray Davis, Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans.
