Top Sean Tucker News

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Efficient on three carries Sunday

Tucker rushed three times for 47 yards and failed to bring in either of his two targets in the Buccaneers' 28-13 win over the Raiders on Sunday. He also returned one kickoff for 25 yards.

Tucker stepped into the No. 2 role once Bucky Irving exited the game with a back injury, and the second-year back responded with a game-long 34-yard run that showcased his electric speed. Tucker saw action on only 11 snaps (18 percent) from scrimmage, but with Irving's status for Week 15 against the Chargers currently uncertain, the former could be headed toward a bigger role behind Rachaad White.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Limited to kickoff returns in win

Tucker returned two kickoffs for 44 yards in the Buccaneers' 26-23 overtime win over the Panthers on Sunday.

With Bucky Irving (hip) logging a career-high 25 carries and Rachaad White tacking on another 11, there was no room for Tucker in the ground game for only the second time since Week 5. In fact, Tucker didn't log any snaps on offense, with all 15 of his plays coming on special teams. Considering Irving has proven amply capable of handling a true workhorse role with efficacy and the fact White is always in line for his share of carries, Tucker doesn't have any tangible fantasy prospects heading into a Week 14 home matchup against the Raiders.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Scores short TD in win

Tucker rushed four times for three yards and a touchdown and secured his only target for seven yards in the Buccaneers' 30-7 win over the Giants on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by Tampa Bay and returned one kickoff for six yards.

Tucker was able to get into the end zone for the first time since Week 6 on a one-yard run in the first quarter, parlaying a sparse five-snap allotment into a serviceable fantasy outing. However, Tucker remains a distant third in the backfield pecking order behind Bucky Irving and Rachaad White, and that arrangement should persist in a Week 13 road matchup against the Panthers.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Logs four touches in loss

Tucker rushed three times for 11 yards and brought in his only target for six yards in the Buccaneers' 30-24 overtime loss to Kansas City on Monday.

Tucker and backfield mate Rachaad White saw just three carries apiece to Bucky Irving's seven. Tucker logged just seven snaps overall (13 percent) from scrimmage, and with both White and Irving available, the second-year back's role figures to remain modest as the Buccaneers face off with the 49ers at home in Week 10.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Plays complementary role Monday

Tucker rushed five times for 29 yards and brought in one of two targets for nine yards in the Buccaneers' 41-31 loss to the Ravens on Monday.

Head coach Todd Bowles had pledged to afford all three of his talented running backs some work Monday night, and he made good on it by even getting Tucker involved in a modest complementary role. The second-year back was solid with his limited opportunities, but backfield mates Rachaad White and Bucky Irving made bigger marks with two receiving touchdowns and a rushing score, respectively. Tucker's workload is the least reliable of the running back room, but he should be able to garner snaps again in a Week 8 home matchup against the Falcons.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Forces way into committee

Coach Todd Bowles said Thursday that Tucker, Bucky Irving and Rachaad White (foot) will all get playing time in a "hot hand" backfield, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Tucker had been the low man on the totem pole, with only nine snaps on offense and three touches all season before his 192-yard, two-TD explosion in Sunday's 51-27 win over the Saints. In the first half, Bucky Irving took 74 percent of snaps and seven of the 10 RB opportunities, but it was Tucker who had superior production with his three touches being a a 36-yard receiving TD, a 15-yard reception and an 11-yard carry. Tucker then got 13 carries and another target in the second half, including six carries for 64 yards and a TD on the final drive in garbage time. His role grew throughout the game even if the final drive is ignored, and he seemingly did enough to keep a role moving forward. Tucker's Week 7 value, along with Irving's, partially depends on whether White is ready for Monday's game against Baltimore.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Breaks out in No. 2 role

Tucker rushed 14 times for 136 yards and a touchdown and brought in all three targets for 56 yards and another score in the Buccaneers' 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday. He also returned two kickoffs for 55 yards.

Tucker came into the afternoon with just three total touches on the season, but the second-year back exploded for a team-high rushing yardage total while technically serving as the No. 2 back behind Bucky Irving. A two-time 1,000-yard rusher in college, Tucker first found the end zone on an impressive 36-yard catch and run in the second quarter, and he added the first rushing score of his career via a five-yard run coming out of the two-minute warning. Tucker's explosive showing would theoretically earn him more playing time on many teams, but with Irving and Rachaad White (foot), whose absence Sunday opened the door for Tucker's expanded role, firmly entrenched atop the depth chart, that could prove difficult. However, were White to remain sidelined for a Week 7 home showdown against the Ravens on Monday night, Oct. 21, Tucker would be line for another robust role in that contest.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: In line for expanded role

Tucker is in line for an expanded role on offense in Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Saints with Rachaad White (foot) inactive for the contest, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Bucky Irving, who's already been working in close to an even timeshare with White at times, will draw the start, but he's yet to log more than 10 carries in a game during his nascent NFL career. Therefore, Tucker, who normally slots in as the No. 3 back on the depth chart, should be in line for his biggest workload of the season as Irving's backup, after only seeing two carries and one target over his first five games. Tucker has worked primarily as a kickoff returner thus far this season and had just 17 touches across 11 regular-season games as a rookie in 2023, but he was a two-time 1,000-yard rusher during his college days at Syracuse.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Limited to kickoff returns in loss

Tucker returned two kickoffs for 86 yards in the Buccaneers' 36-30 overtime loss to the Falcons on Thursday night.

Tucker didn't log any snaps on offense for the first time since Week 2, although he showed well with his pair of opportunities to touch the ball on special teams. The second-year back looks destined to continue as a distant No. 3 option behind the high-usage duo of Rachaad White and Bucky Irving as long as those two versatile options are healthy.

  • Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Logs two touches in win

Tucker rushed once for three yards and brought in his only target for 14 yards in the Buccaneers' 33-16 win over the Eagles on Sunday.

Tucker logged a season-high six snaps from scrimmage and logged his first reception of the season in the process. The second-year back continues to play his largest role on special teams, as opportunities behind Rachaad White and Bucky Irving will continue to be scarce as long as the duo is healthy.
